  1. That was back before AIDS was invented and anything you could possibly get could be cured with a shot. Porn had just begun to become more mainstream. Long enough past the 60s, hair everywhere, birkenstock wearing tree hugging sexuality so young women were more astute and aware. Oh yes. Good times. Good times.
  2. Gentlemen, when aggy and Missery left the Big 12, they paid less than 1/2 of the exit fees. https://alcalde.texasexes.org/2012/02/texas-am-missouri-to-pay-less-than-half-of-big-12-exit-fees/ So, a precedent has been set. If the Irate8, or 6 of the 8 agreed to this figure in 2012, the remaining Big 12 members (less WVU and TCU), are now in the position of having to explain why this less than 50% figure was acceptable in 2012 and not now. Also, as with any breach of contract, the Irate8 has the duty to attempt to mitigate its damages. Perhaps explaining a bit why they are scrambling so much to look at new members to the conference.
  3. That was the start of my senior year at UT. Went to Jorge's, which was then on Guadalupe (?) just south of the Campus. Damn, those margaritas back then were killer. Both my date and I had 2 of those things. And we were feeling no pain. Had the flask of Jack Daniels in the boot for the game. Found parking near the Nighthawk on the Drag. If I recall correctly, my date that night had a fairly liberal definition of her own morality. (The Golden Age of Promiscuity) So, we hoof it to the game. Electric atmosphere, and Jack was doing his job ... until ... About midway through the 4th quarter, the date looks at me, says... I don't feel so good, and then BOOM! Passes out in the stands. Oh, the joys of being young.

This video is 14 years old now. And it still captured the big plays and emotion of that season incredibly well.
  5. Assuming arguendo, that Alliance moves forward. If I Ran the Zoo, or the SEC whichever, my response would simply be, "Ok, Cool, Hook 'em." Then, I would approach Clempson and Florida State and tell them, "hey, we are leaving the NCAA, forming our own Association, will have our own separate rules, games, playoffs, oversight. Want to come play with the big boys? Then, I would approach Ohio State, Meatchicken and maybe include State Penn and tell them, "hey, we are leaving the NCAA, forming our own Association, will have our own separate rules, games, playoffs, oversight. Want to come play with the big boys? Then, I would approach USC, Oregone, Stanford and maybe Washington and tell them, "hey, we are leaving the NCAA, forming our own Association, will have our own separate rules, games, playoffs, oversight. Want to come play with the big boys? I would then tell all universities that along with the athletic alliance, we are developing an academic alliance where once a university has reached certain academic and research standards, they join the academic alliance where libraries and research can be shared, where there is a somewhat open exchange pertaining to grad students and professors could openly collaborate on important studies. And part of that academic alliance would be funded by the increased revenue brought in by the television contracts and related revenue. Some will say nyet. Most would recognize that it is in their long term best interests, financially, athletically and academically and say "Da baby."
  6. Sometimes, I feel like a Pilgrim in an unholy land. That's why I lurve Surly so much. No, you heathen (with all due respect). All of the privately owned units are on the 44th floor. So, of the 47 floors in the Hilton Midtown, 46 of them check in on the ground floor. All except 1. Hold and cold running maids. Private lounge for the hoi AND polloi on the floor. Prostitutes which discount their prices. "Lovie, my God ... he must be a Yale man."
  7. Contrary view time ... If this is the same as "Hilton Grand Vacations," my significant other bought into it about 5 years ago. We love it for a number of reasons. First, you have the option of having a number of Hilton Grand Vacations be your "home base." Depending on the Home Base, your buy in varies. (For example, if NYC is your home base that costs you more than the Hilton in DC). When you acquire your Home Base you acquire a certain number of points. You are not limited to just one location. These points can be utilized at any of the 56 Hilton Grand Vacation sites domestically and internationally. Each of these locations will cost you fewer points (less dollars) than what you would have to spend at comparable nearby hotels. In the past four years, we have used Hilton Grand Vacations points to stay at the Hilton properties in the following locations: NYC (mid-town Manhattan), Washington D.C. (two blocks away from GW University, Key West, San Diego (Carlsbad, on the beach), Cabo (on the beach), Myrtle Beach (on the beach), Big Island of Hawaii,. Check in at these hotels is depending on the location, expedited. For example, in NYC, you go right past the Great Unwashed on the first floor check in, zip up to the 44th floor and the personal concierge up there gets you checked in. Here is the website on it: https://www.hiltongrandvacations.com/ If you want more information, PM me and I can give you her name and contact information.
  8. It makes me smile that so many of these mouth breathing sports "journalists," believe that Texas simply woke up one day, contacted Cletus up at ou and said, "Cletus, I'm going to go to the SEC. Want to come along?" That no research nor analysis was conducted and it must have simply been a knee jerk reaction. Undoubtedly, my fellow mouthpieces for numerous MONTHS have researched every possible aspect of switching conferences. What about CBS with its tv contract rights with the SEC? They could be TROUBLE!!! Answer: Yeah right. When the move happens in 2022, they could have the following line up: Texas vs. ou, the next week; Alabama vs. LSU, the next week; Georgia vs. Texas, the next week: ou vs. Alabama, the next week; Georgia vs. Florida, the next week; Texas vs. Alabama, the next week; ou vs. Florida. The commercial rate they would charge corporations for those games would be unworldly. "Ok, what about the rest of the Irate Eight?" Response: "Here are the 10 most likely scenarios ..." Financial exposure? Possible legislative blow back? Anti-trust issues? Economic impact on the two schools as well as the States of texas and oglaucoma? increase in applications to attend the schools? Recruiting? blah blah blah The UT big cigars and other decision makers have been playing 4D Chess. Pretty much everyone whining about this, or being left behind are still trying to understand the rules of checkers.
  9. In Austin in the last 70s, a 12 pack of Pearl beer was about $1.89. Pearl at that time, also had the Beer Cap puzzles. The first few were easy. For some reason, the more you drank the more difficult they became.
  10. Now now... I'm sure Crowder did exhaustive work into how we are discovering that certain people are more genetically predisposed to develop mental illnesses ... from depression to eating disorders to anxiety, etc. I am sure Crowder also exhaustively researched the biological components of many mental illnesses ... the specific parts of the brain that are involved or the evolving treatment for certain mental illnesses. Treatment protocol like Repetitive Transmagnetic Cranial Stimulus (rTMS) which even health insurers are beginning to pay for, or polychromatic light therapy treatment. On the other hand, he might simply be an uninformed, self-absorbed jackass.
  11. Oh Johnny... you could damned well get away with almost anything.
  12. Boys, I can't help but feel a seismic shift in "who has hand." When aggy was accepted into the SEC, I imagine the thinking was long these lines, " Ok boys, there is a recruiting rich environment in the State of Texas and we are not getting enough of them. There are a lot of television sets in Houston too. Let's go after them. So, they naturally look at aggy. And the SEC knows that aggy has not finished in the top 4 in football, basketball nor baseball since before the North Koreans poured over the 38th parallel. aggy has a massive inferiority complex and will be just the type of cuckold puppet we need. They won't challenge our national power programs and they will put the conference above their own needs. And... we can screw with Texas a little bit. And so .... aggy gets the invitation. And it works out exactly like the SEC thought it would. aggy trumpets the conference, doesn't even win their own division, and they don't see that the SEC is humping their wife every time aggy goes out into the sheep fields. With Texas ... there is a different narrative. Texas brings to the SEC a national brand. It bolsters the SEC's bankroll and makes negotiations with the SEC's Sith Lord and Master, the Mouse, a bit easier. BUT, for the mighty SEC there is a downside. Whereas, aggy wasn't much of a threat to go into Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia to poach recruits... we are... and will. After all, "How ya gonna keep 'em down on the Farm after they've seen Paree? (or Austin)" They are bringing the wealthiest and now, most successful athletic program into the SEC. Undoubtedly, there have been talks about conference championship games rotating with some being played in Texas.... something the SEC did not even have to consider when the cuckold puppet joined. As Japanese Admiral Yamamoto wrote in his diary, "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant ... and filled him with a terrible resolve."
  13. So, on July 5, 2021, Loro in Dallas opened. (I believe the original in Austin opened in 2018 and one is supposed to open in Houston sometime this fall) First, I like the location. It's on Haskel just east of Central Distressway. So, no Deep Ellum, Uptown traffic mess. It does have that Texas Dancehall look to it. The parking lot is small and kind of funky but lots of nearby street parking. I thought no reservations but apparently you can go "on the line" and have Mr. Google contact the restaurant and make reservations. Without reservations, when you get there and if there appears to be a wait, they take your name in front of the place and put you on a list. (Or, you tell them you are meeting friends inside, walk in, find an empty place and sit down). They have the scan menu thing on your table. Then, when you know what you want, you walk up to the bar and order (both your drinks and food). You pay as you order, bartender serves you your drinks and gives you a numbered thingiemabob for your order. The waitstaff brings you your food when it is ready. The SO and I started with the wonton chips (the thai green salsa is particularly good). We then had the smoked beef brisket with thai herbs and chili gastrique and the oak smoked salmon with cucumber yuzu broth, parsley and lemon. The brisket was very good, tender, good flavor, the thai herbs add a nice finishing flavor. But, for us the star was the salmon particularly with the cucumber yuzu broth. The broth was incredible! As for drinks, we wanted to try something different so we both had a frozen gin and tonic. (they also have frozen mojitos). Unlike many frozen margaritas, the frozen G&T was very good, refreshing and you could taste the gin in it. Good atmosphere. They have a separate outside area with television, etc as well as outside seating. Yes, you are going to get some of the Dallas Douches in attendance but it is what it is. The Asian aspect worked very well with the food and prices are pretty reasonable. Give it a whirl Gents. https://www.loroeats.com/dallas
  14. Dear Bob, we think so little of your little hissy fit, we didn't even see the need to retain outside counsel. In fact, your claims were so ridiculous, we did not even have our in-house staff attorneys respond. In fact, your claims were so in outer space, we picked the person who has nothing whatsoever to do with ANYTHING, our dude heading up Programming and Content, to say ... Piss off! That's cold. I love it.
  15. No, the trial would not be in Delaware. Thousands of corporations register there for various reasons. But, venue would be where the principal place of business resides or where the material parts of the claims arose. Another factor that any court would take into account is ... mitigation of damages. An aggrieved party under a breach of contract has the duty to take reasonable action to mitigate its damages. So, if a university can make up for some of the expected lost revenue by aggressively pursuing being absorbed into another conference, it must take those steps or risk the likelihood of having its pay day reduced ... perhaps significantly so. Along those lines, does Bowlsby have a conflict of interest? If all 8 members can be absorbed elsewhere then while that is going on, negotiations are underway to make sure that new larger conference (AAC perhaps) be included in the expanded playoffs and have a larger television contract, but that would mean Bowlsby loses his job, he would be forced to negotiate himself out of a job. That testimony would be epic! Mouthpiece Shark: So, Bowlsby, did you negotiate with other conferences to have all 8 teams absorbed as a package deal? Bowlsby: Uh ....... Mouthpiece Shark: So, Bowlsby, with a new TV contract which the Mouse or the Fox said they would have done, that would have increased each of the 8 schools' revenue by X amount. Did you consider that Sport? Bowlsby: Uh ..... Mouthpiece Shark: So, Bowlsby, records indicate the Conference was paying you $6 million a year plus incentives. If a new conference was formed, you would be out of a job. You certainly took that into account didn't you Old Boy? Bowlsby: Uh... well... uh.... Mouthpiece Shark: And you were the one, just days before those fine institutions of higher learning, Texas and ... well, Texas anyway, announced they were departeering, you said, It's ok, nothing to see here.... move along. Correct? Bowlsby: Uh....
  16. Rotating football championship games in Atlanta and Jerry's World. Basketball tournament in Dallas. But, speaking of registration headaches, Napa and Sonoma wine, how many of your fucks during your time at UT took the time to go visit the Gutenberg Bible in the Ransom Center? Apparently, there are fewer than 20 intact Gutenberg Bibles in the world and UT has one of them. https://www.hrc.utexas.edu/gutenberg-bible/

    Thujone

So, in the realignment thread, the Picasso of Pricks announced the unveiling could be ... tonite. In the meantime, I was never curious enough to look up what is the origination of the Master's name. Until ... "Thujone acts on GABA as an antagonist (opposite to the effects of alcohol). As a competitive antagonist of GABA, thujone alone is considered to be convulsant,[5] though by interfering with the inhibitory transmitter GABA, it may convey stimulating, mood-elevating effects at low doses. It is also used in perfumery as a component of several essential oils." Clever Lad that Thujone.
  18. January 1, 1982. I had just completed my first semester in law school and was visiting my parents who at that time, lived in Huntington Beach, California. My idiot older sister lived out there and had married a sculptor, artist, stoner. (He did some work on the movie, "The Thing" was just released in 1982). 6th ranked Texas is playing 3rd ranked Alabama in the Cotton Bowl. That 1:00 p.m. start in Texas meant 11:00 a.m. Left Coast Time. Soooo, I start pounding Bloody Marys (Maries?) around 10:00. Game starts. Idoit sister's (now ex) husband comes staggering into the room in the second quarter. Willie (yes, his true name) says, "So, Steve, so like, what are you about man?" I remember slowing looking up at him and in an exaggerated drawl say, "Well, Willie, I'm about to start my 3rd Bloody Mary and then watch the rest of this fucking game. Wanna join me?" His blood shot eyes open wider, he mumbles something and stumbles out of the room. I watched out Horns come back in the 4th to beat the Bear Bryant lead Bama team. (But for that horrific loss against Arkansuck earlier in the year, we probably would have won the MNC that year)
  19. If herpes is your thing ... not that there's anything wrong with that.
