  1. You are correct... I should have said that FSD 12 is the first Tesla release to employ an end-to-end neural network for vehicle control instead of coded rules-based software.
  2. Broke my COVID cherry after more than four years. I got it last week after my wife returned with it from a business trip to DC, and she didn't become symptomatic until day 2 after being home. Let's just say I was fully exposed on day 1 of her being back home. I had pretty mild symptoms for 2-3 days and still have a periodic cough. The low energy level was by far the worst symptom for me. I never measured with a fever, but I sweated through my sheets like never before on night two.
  3. We are less than a year removed from the release of FSD 12, the first version trained with a neural network. The leap in performance over the past few months as been exceptional. I still have hope that it can achieve Level 5 autonomy.
  4. $99/mo is the subscription price for FSD. I currently treat FSD as an advanced driver assistance feature. It makes for very stress-free driving for me, personally. I still have hope for the system based on how I see it perform on a daily basis.
  5. I’m open to the idea that there are inherent flaws in Tesla’s approach to autonomous driving that may prevent them from ever reaching level 5 certification. I’m also open to the idea that they just might be the one to pull it off. It’s not just blind confidence in the company, and definitely not any level of confidence in Musk, that keeps me open to the second idea. It’s my personal hands on experience with the system for the last 32 months. I’ve watched what used to be herky jerky wheel movements and phantom braking evolve into super-smooth natural maneuvers. I’ve gone from intervening with the system 6 or 7 times in a 5 mile drive to almost never on drives lasting a few hours. The times that I intervene now are almost always a matter of my preference rather than the car doing something remotely unsafe. After nearly four years of ownership, I still love the car. It’s the most fun-to-drive car that I’ve ever owned. I still love the convenience of coming out each morning to a car with a full “tank.” I have a piece of the most advanced autonomous driving technology directly available to consumers in my garage, and I enjoy using it and testing it and feeding the dataset that may eventually get the product over the finish line. For those who call me a sucker and a paid beta-tester, FSD is factored into the KBB resale value of the car, so $6K of the $8K I paid is still reflected there. About 20% of the current value of the car is due to it being an FSD vehicle. Despite the comments poking fun at me, I have never been a blind defender of all things Tesla (and especially not Musk). I try to limit my Tesla commentary to my personal experience with my vehicle and also to counter any misinformation about Tesla. There are always multiple sides to a story, so I just try to present another perspective on some of the commentary and news that gets shared here.
  6. Had one yesterday. Not bad for a fast food burger. My patties were overseasoned and quite salty, but the cheese melt was great and the sauce is good. Freddy's doesn't have anything to worry about, though.
  7. This is addictive and a massive timewaster since there are unlimited grids to play.
  8. First things first... an obvious fuck-up by the system that needs to be addressed. I'm sure this will be resolved quickly. That's one of the main benefits of the OTA software updates. A couple of points for consideration, though: 1. The vehicle does not run a red light. It is turning right out of a McDonald's parking lot and then trying for an immediate U-turn onto the navigation track for a new destination - no doubt a questionable navigation decision, but one that we've all seen on the roads before. The screen cap shows the car doing the subsequent U-Turn, and the red traffic signal you see on the left is for crossing traffic. The green arrow to the right is the signal for the Tesla's direction of traffic. But none of this excuses the Tesla for failing to yield to the vehicle already in the left turn lane. This scenario is a bit of a quirky edge case, so using it as dispositive evidence that the system is "not good" is cherry-picking. 2. The creator of the video made this video to show the one issue he experienced during several hours of driving in FSD 12.5.1.1 with zero interventions. His overall assessment is, "The release is amazing and has made driving boring (in a good way)." The system is improving with every release and the fact that users are having to search out uncommon scenarios to test the limits of the system speaks volumes as to how well the system currently performs. I wish dumbass Elon would stop throwing his "delivery" dates out there, though.
  9. I realize that MLB has a lot of moving parts in play, but it feels strange to finish the season series with a divisional rival in the first week of August.
  10. Definitely a fun show, but I’m square in the demo who is in mostly due to the nostalgia from watching the original 100 times as a kid. I imagine this is only going to appeal to a niche audience, though.
  11. The first time scoring 6 runs since the walkoff against LA, another solid start from Kikuchi, plus a nice day for the rookie in his second game.
  12. Glad he was leading off and double glad that he got sat down.
  13. Sigh... Pressly is in a really bad stretch. Need to find an injury and take a couple weeks to nurse it.
  14. Kinda hard to argue against someone's subjective opinion. But no, I don't agree.
