You are conflating auto-pilot data with FSD data. They are different. I stated that there have been two confirmed fatalities associated with FSD in over 2.5 billion miles driven by FSD vehicles. That's all I said. Nothing more, nothing less.
Seriously though... by the time it is observable again in 2028, we should be able to determine location and timing of strike and then weigh the cost-benefit of intervening to modify trajectory or evacuating the impact site. There is absolutely no reason that this should kill millions of people.
I hope that everyone who ever mentioned/suggested/advocated trading away starting pitching last year or the year before spends some time marinating with this graphic.
To paraphrase the great baseball mind of General George S. Patton:
"No bastard ever won a pennant by trading away his starting pitching. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard trade away his starting pitching."
You know that you are just voting for leopards to eat their faces. Because they’ll totally stop when done with those guys. Do you even Reign of Terror, bro?
Swim call is a high-risk/low-reward evolution that has been naturally phasing out as fewer and fewer COs are willing to assume that risk. It's a minimal morale boost that could turn into a shitshow if a Sailor were to drown. That said, I'm glad I got to do it a couple of times during my career, once over the Mariana Trench.
My experience is that it has variable buoyancy based on liquid and gas content, just like certain type of maritime vessel. Even has a similar tapered shape.
