  1. Plain English had a great episode on this a few weeks ago.
  2. Straight out of college I bought that mentioned g35x that I couldn't afford to maintain on a stupidly high rate. Started dropping oil after a few years and went downhill from there. Always missed it so the 340i was too much to resist.
  3. I posted a while back looking for advice on my wife's next SUV - finally convinced her to look at low mileage X5s and she's thrilled. Almost jumped at an MDX but she hated that touchpad. What I didn't plan on was trading out of my Model 3 for this a few weeks later... Takes me back to my old G35x. Just a fuck of a lot faster.
  4. My turn to join the fun. Back in June we had some hail roll through (78737) - as I remembered it was pretty small stuff but a lot of it. Didn't think to get anyone out until it seemed like every other house on the block (inc. adjacent houses) had a new roof scheduled or installed. Lots of chasers of course but I had a recommended company come out and they see enough evidence to continue. Also had a friend who deals in metal roofs (adjuster in prior job) come out and he was confident in replacement. They probably all say this but what do I know... Long story short, Traveler's comes out twice with their 3rd party inspector, 2nd time with a rep from the roofing company to show evidence. Come back stating no damage to the roof both times (only covering gutters and fencing...) despite asphalt debris in my drainage areas, etc. Roofers saying we can get their in-house PA/lawyer involved if we want to go that route at no cost to us ("10% of profit claim"??). Roof is from the original build (2008) so I figure it's due for replacement sooner rather than later. Well out of my depth here, just wondering if escalating this thing is common practice or worth the song and dance. Any asshole advice very appreciated.
  5. If it weren't for a bootleg SKY stream I'd have gone back to bed by now. Fuck NBC.
  6. That's part of the issue... Wife's ideal price point doesn't get far enough into Audi/BMW etc to feel the luxury. Test drove X3 and Q5 today and she wasn't impressed. She's coming from a '13 Pilot (awesome, reliable car) so has her mind set on a fancy brand. Car buying can be difficult enough without bringing my wife into it.
  7. Apologies for not digging too deep into the thread but looking for opinions on the luxury mid-size SUV market. We checked out the qx60 and c60 today. I loved my old g35 so I'm partial to the 3.5 (if they're anything like they used to be) over the other 4c turbo options but what do I know - wife (no pics) probably doesn't give a shit one way or the other. Haven't had recent ownership experience with any of the big brands so any help is welcome.
  8. Everything Francisco said is on-point. I'm also using Nike Superreps and have maybe 400 rides on them w/ no complaints - solid shoe for a good price. If you'd rather look local most bike shops will have some selection but less so w/ the Delta pattern that you need. A good fitting shoe makes all the difference in the world but you can easily get started w/ something pretty close. Had a cheap HD garage rug under mine for a while but it's not really needed. Grab a nice heartrate monitor if you're into metrics - A Scosche Rhythm is going on 4 years without issue for me. Get some cheap BT earbuds on Amazon because the built-in speakers are complete garbage. One piece of advice I'd give is to hide leaderboards and just focus on your own ride. Any non-plus bike is a complete crap shoot in terms of resistance equivalencies. Your 50 resistance could feel like someone else's 30, etc. If you're on the subreddit for long you'll realize that seemingly everyone posts pro cycling metrics which can be a mind fuck starting out. Do your own calibration at the start if you want but over time you'll really be racing yourself. If I were to ever get a new bike or change mine I'd lose all reference. Funny thing Francisco... We just got the tread and I figured my legs would be in great shape after years of riding. Fuck if it's not a completely different type of workout somehow. I find 90% of the challenge when pushing myself is mental - if I can get past the panic and self-doubt then I'm golden. Just 20 runs in and really getting my ass kicked trying to get comfortable w/ that battle but enjoying the challenge. Don't get discouraged starting out - it's supposed to kick your ass! Before you know it you'll get a few punches in and then you're hooked.
  9. He's called that a ball twice this inning. This fucking guy
  10. Hook Em! What a fucking match
  11. How many times are we going to let Nixon fuck us in one weekend?
  12. Was just about to echo this... everything about this is fucking disgraceful.
  13. Almost to 1,200 rides here and echo everything said about the cost. I'd probably pay the subscription for the bike & a few scenic rides alone. You get to the point where you don't need the motivation - you WANT/NEED to be kicking ass on the bike. Even a short or low effort ride is hugely therapeutic for me. Shitty day? Work sucks? Bitchy wife? Take a ride. I don't know what I would have done throughout the pandemic without being able to feel like I've done something productive for myself or my health. Would recommend for the Nth time on this thread.
