  1. This thread inspired me to detour through Amarillo on my way back home to Austin from Pagosa Springs. Mountain oysters and 24oz. porterhouse. It was actually a good steak!
  2. On the way up to Pagosa Springs to work from "home" for the next couple of weeks I stopped by Evie Mae's in Wolfforth. It was all excellent. The brisket and ribs perfect. The brisket chili was a nice surprise. Oh and shit it's cold in Lubbock with that wind blowing! I then stopped 50 minutes up the road in Olten, TX (aka BFE) at Rejino BBQ (2nd pic). Also a top 50 joint. The brisket and ribs were a notch below Evie Mae's, but their sausage was better. Great snap. They use the full St. Louis rib.
  3. Back in the day, Rosebud-Lott
  4. I saw this on Wednesday night. The acting was great. I'm in the same boat, I didn't know the story and Shakespeare is hard for me to follow the dialogue. I went home and read the plot, oh yeah, that all makes sense now. Probably need to do a second viewing.
  5. Saw it tonight at the Regal Arbor, man I love that little theater. I didn't like it as much as I thought I would, but it was still enjoyable. My mom used to make shit on shingle (SOS) growing up and I went to Ocean's Cabaret about 15 years ago after a wedding. So it hit a little close to home.
  6. For the GZ BLT+ recipe, I did slather a buttload of Duke's mayo on it and used 6 thick cut slices of peppered bacon.
  7. Hey now, I had one after our West Virginia game at Primanti Bros. Way better than the game!
  8. Yeah, but the creaminess of the avocado did take it to 11 though.
  9. I made a BLT a few days ago. Geoffrey Zakarian's recipe. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/geoffrey-zakarian/gzs-ultimate-blt-2563058 Damn good!
  10. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Who doesn't love a good underdog story? Got a good chuckle at Kirk Herbstreit, Todd Christensen and Mike Golic calling the Arena Bowl 10 game.
  11. Just found out today at family Christmas that my cousin, early 50s, pretty good health, nearly died of covid back in July. They never told most of the family. Around July 4th he started having trouble breathing, he went to the ER and his O2 was in the low 90's so they sent him home. He goes back a few days later and his O2 is 80 and they send him home again. A couple days later he's laboring hard for breath and they go back to the ER and his O2 is below 60 and they finally admit him. He's in a world of shit now and is in ICU for two weeks on high oxygen. They don't think he's going to make it and are ready to intubate him and the wife tells the Dr. we are going to take him home to die. He somehow makes a turnaround and pulls through. Never was intubated, but was in the hospital for over 4 weeks. He lost his hair, which has all grown back now. Still gets winded pretty good when he pushes himself too hard. He has issues now with joint pain. Lesions on his lungs from the covid pneumonia the docs think. Unreal. Him and his wife's side of the family have never taken the pandemic seriously nor practiced any precaution and he almost fucked around and found out. The good thing that came out of this is that it scared their family enough to all get vaccinated. Another cousin had covid almost a year ago and still has only part of her sense of smell back. My 16 year old nephew had covid 2 months ago and his taste is still off. Merry Christmas!
  12. I made 10 dozen tamales last weekend for our family Christmas, I do this annually. Not bad for a gringo.
  13. Going to the show Sunday night. Can't wait! Saw it 2 years ago in Austin at Bass.
  14. It's going to be a good Saturday!
  15. Yeah, I got 5 through the venue presale yesterday. The cheapest tickets they had were $129 ($150 with fees). Last row of the upper deck is what I got. They should have offered some for less than $100 in the upper deck. Crazy.
  16. Just got my Eagles tickets for the show at the Moody Center in May!
  17. Got Moderna boostered a few weeks ago, came in >2500 for S protein and negative for prior covid infection. Should be good to go for a while!
  18. I rolled into town this morning blaring duelling banjos to set the mood. Let's do this! laugh/cry.gif
  19. The Dogfish Head Brewery and Gettysburg will probably be the highlight of this trip, but I'll be in Morgantown tomorrow dammit! Yes, I'm a glutton for punishment. Fun fact, President Lincoln delivered his Gettysburg Address 158 years ago today.
  20. Well I had to try it. And I have to say, pretttyyyy, pretty good.
  21. Yeah, I was all up in Bevo's grill.
  22. The only time it felt crowded was when the players ran onto the field before the game as everyone was crowded around the tunnel. Never had to wait for drinks or food and no issues finding a couple open chairs within 5 minutes of searching. I think those seats are like $8,000 a piece. Yikes!
  23. Y'all, I got to be honest, the field club is pretty damn cool. I apologize to all the folks I talked shit about for not sitting in their gray seats. Why would you? You can high five Bevo, you are right on top of the action when the ball is on your side of the field. I actually did sit in my gray seat most of the game and I had like 3 rows to myself. I was sprawled out like I was watching the game in my recliner at home! Plus, I think I ate my weight in Lambert's mac n cheese.
  24. I'll be there. Really looking forward to Gettysburg on Sunday!
  25. I got two tickets in those fancy south end zone seats that nobody sits in for Saturday's game. Does the club open 2 hours prior to kickoff?
