  1. Burnt Bean Co. did not disappoint! Got here at 7am and they had all the meats ready, which I was not expecting. Fatty brisket was excellent, as was the beef rib, just melt in your mouth. Both nice and peppery. I liked the jalapeño/ sausage over the regular beef ones. Now the question is do I hang around to try any of the sides? They aren't ready yet. May need to grab a barbacoa taco real fast as well. Line is down the sidewalk, probably over an hour wait now.
  2. So on Sundays, does Burnt Bean Co. have brisket/full menu at 8am when they open?
  3. Just got my ticket allocation from the ticket office today. Anyone else at the top of section 201 with me? Looking forward to my first trip to Morgantown! Going to make it a long weekend and check out Gettysburg too.
  4. I just snagged parking at Park Hills Baptist church on the other side of Mopac $32 https://parkhills.ticketbud.com/acl-music-festival-2021-reserved-parking-at-park-hills-450726c6-dfa89026869d?preview=true&vox=true&_ga=2.39524513.345331425.1629473234-1897542727.1629473234 Hopefully it's not too bad of a cluster.
  5. I got the 14.5 inch, because I wanted it a little higher. With the platform bed I bought, the top of the mattress is right at 30 inches from the floor. I did not need get a bed frame, would have been way too high.
  6. I bought a Saatva Classic firm, 3 months ago, at the recommendation of the fine folks in this thread. https://www.saatva.com/mattresses/saatva-classic I really like it so far.
  7. I finally got mine yesterday for weekend two.
  8. I was there last month, very underrated national park. Stayed in Dickinson, about 45 minutes from the park entrance. I spent the day at the south unit, drove the south loop. Didn't do any major hikes. Tons of buffalo and the landscape is amazing.
  9. Ok, thank you. I am going weekend two as well. I did get the shipping notice last week. Guess I should have read it more carefully. I'll look for them at the end of the week then.
  10. Has anyone NOT received their wristbands yet? When should I start getting concerned?
  11. I listened to about 25 Crime Junkie podcasts on a long road trip last month and really enjoyed them.
  12. I came to see Salt-N-Pepa and the MOB. I guess one out of two ain't bad.
  13. Like others here, I saw Norm Macdonald at Cap City on Dec. 2nd, 2011, the 10:30pm show. Can't believe it's been that long! He performed for about 3 hours, I am guessing way longer than normal. It was great!!
  14. I've always liked Tech, mainly because of all the grief they caused aggy in sports throughout the years. Plus they had the pirate. I'm fine with this.
  15. I had my one year post vax appt. with the Moderna trial last Friday. Mostly just did bloodwork. They told me starting around Sept. 20th they will be calling us back in and start their booster trial to whomever wants it. Double blind again, so half of us will get the booster and the other half placebo. I will partake. My Texas Cares antibody result was 390 after 1 year. 43 year old male and no health issues. After reading a few articles based on what @Dontshootrude posted last week, I don't feel as anxiuos about getting the booster on my own right away.
  16. I just got back from a National Parks tour last week. Flew into Minneapolis and headed west. Ended up in Portland, OR. 12 days later. 4,956 miles driven! It was a one way rental with Alamo that I booked at the end of May. $1,300 was the total for a Chevy Traverse that had 21,000 miles on it, which I didn't think was too bad considering the pandemic. If I had waited until June/July that price would have been at least doubled. Booking early was the key for me. There were not a ton of cars in the garage when I picked it up, but didn't have an issue getting my SUV.
  17. Is Brown's BBQ in Austin worth a stop?
  18. Moderna trial participant here. I got an S-protein antibody test outside of the trial 1 month, 6 months and 1 year post vaccination. Here are my results. (Note: the test done was a Euroimmun ELISA qualitative assay to detect IgG antibodies. >1.09 = Positive) Oct. 19th, 2020 = 8.99 Mar. 31st, 2021 = 6.88 Aug. 31st, 2021 = 2.52 I also did the Texas Cares study on Monday and my result for that test was 390. I have my 1 year appt. tomorrow with Moderna, I'll see what they say about a booster.
  19. I'm in the Moderna trial and had my first shot a year ago on Aug. 18th. I had my blood drawn for the Texas Cares study yesterday and my antibody level is 390. Anything above 0.8 is positive, so it doesn't seem as bad when you look at it like that. I was also negative for prior infection.
  20. First shot Aug. 18th, 2020 in the Moderna trial here.
  21. Yes, I heard about the strike that started today I believe. I'm hoping things stay open, but have a back up plan if they don't. (Which would be just staying in Glacier NP an extra night before heading down to Yellowstone.)
  22. Fully vaccinated Americans can travel to Canada starting August 9th. You still have to have a negative covid test within 72 hours before entry. https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/news/2021/07/government-of-canada-announces-easing-of-border-measures-for-fully-vaccinated-travellers.html
  23. I am planning on getting this same rapid test done for a trip to Canada in two weeks. No flight, just a border crossing in Montana. Does anyone know if Canada will accept this test? On the Canadian health website it says any molecular covid test including NAAT. So I am hoping I will be good.
