  1. I meant to post yesterday on the anniversary of 9/10/91 at MSG. I think it is the only full show with Branford and Bruce. Back in my tape trading days, the first set tape, which included the Help>slip>frank from the second set, was one my two most listened-to tapes (the other was the first tape from 9/21/72). The SBD was mixed perfectly and each guy’s playing is so tight it sounds like a studio recording. The CC Rider> It Takes a lot to Laugh is one of my favorite things they ever did. They nail every song in the first set and he second set is really good too.
  2. I’ve actually never checked that whole show out. Will have to. I mostly collect official releases so I am pretty light on the mid 80’s. The Music Never Stopped (Fall ‘80?) that follows the shakedown in that box set is phenomenal too. Both peaks in the jam are outrageous. It is ranked surprisingly low on heady versions - for my ears, none of the ones near the top can touch it.
  3. We went camping with another family and my friend’s wife loaded their new Yeti with food and drinks. When we got there, she discovered that she should have added ice if she wanted everything cold. She thought the cold was included in the price.
  4. For my taste, the beer at ABGB is better, and it’s not close (i’m not a fan of NE IPAs, beer should be bitter- west coast pales and northern German pilsners FTW). Food is of similar quality. Getting a table at either sucks when busy. During our last visit to PHP on burnet, I opened a tab at the bar, then ordered food at the food counter once we got a table and they added it to the tab. I went to the food counter to close out because there was no line. They made me get back in the long ass bar line because that is where I opened the tab. Fuck that. If I can add to the tab at both counters, let me close it at either. Made no god damn sense. That being said, my kids love their Caesar salad and pretzels, so we’ll be back. Also, you can order a scoop of Amy’s vanilla for $1 and have a beer yourself if you want to get your kids an afternoon treat (it is listed as an add-on to the other deserts, but they’ll sell it by itself if you ask)
  5. I took a surly break for a while but am back. Enjoyed going through and catching up. I lean towards 72-74 so some really good early versions of Row Jimmy are 2/24/74 and 11/17/73 (any song from either of these shows is a really good version). 7/31/74 is good too (all three were Dave’s Picks). Hate, which Shakedown were you listening to? I love the one from the So Many Roads set (NYE ‘83) and the one from the Fall ‘79 road trips. Also 9/10/91 with Branford. Phil has a really cool tone and takes control near the end.
  6. This showed up this morning on a vacant commercial lot near my office on Airport commerce (near 183&71). It is so trashed I am surprised it survived the journey. This is what should be deposited near our city council members houses. They are harder to get rid of.
  7. Maybe ending their systematic exclusion from certain gameday traditions would increase interest and attendance amongst these folks. I can’t imagine it is so hard a task that only white guys and a few token others can handle it. fwiw, I am white but never would have been considered for the cowboys or spurs. I just didn’t run in those circles. A path to get in on this gameday stuff through merit would have been pretty awesome to strive for.
  8. I love the William Tell bridge. For me, 9/10/91 with Branford and Hornsby is as good as any show from any era. Over the yearsI have listened to that first set more than just about any other tape/disk.
  9. Fine, your small minded trolling, reliance on name calling in lieu of wit, and obvious need for acceptance in a group would have made you a much better fit for aggy than I ever would have been. please post about the cowboys or move on. Quit thread shitting. I apologize to everyone for feeding the troll. I’m out of this thread.
  10. I’ve been going through Spotify and listening to Europe 72 Dark Stars and Other Ones as I work on stuff most nights. Tonight I detoured to 2/26/73 DiP28 Dark Star. The pre-verse section is phenomenal-very jazzy and ~19min. After the verse is mostly space, but picks up and then flawlessly segues into Eyes. Not sure why, but I bought very few Dick’s picks after #14 so I am unfamiliar with this one. Glad they are available to stream.
  11. Please stop. You’re embarrassing yourself. The depth of your debating skill is to use one tactic over and over. Since you can’t think of anything clever, you just call me an Aggie. Did you think the 4th time would really zing me? As for the topic at hand, I think the Spurs satisfy our need for an on field game day organization that effectively excludes at least 99% of the student population from even being considered for inclusion. Let the Cowboys back on campus in 6 years to focus on charitable good deeds and seatbelt awareness. They can even wear their fancy outfits wherever they want. Just don’t let them back on the field to embarrass us yet again. Short of Pom firing the cannon, which would be awesome on TV, how about we give the honor of firing the cannon to an honors organization for exceptional academic achievement? We could showcase our best and brightest, include representatives from as much of the student body as possible, and a few could have their achievements highlighted on the Jumbotron each week.
  12. Went to Texas and graduated twice. My brother went to Texas A&M. I get what ‘aggy’ means and I happen to think using it is on the level of them calling us tu, like my Aggie brother does. I refuse to act like an Aggie, but I guess you are ok with it. I know you will always beat me on post count, which seems to matter here, so I will bow out of this meaningless pissing match. Hookem!
  13. Your brother go to UC Davis or NMSU? He went to the Texas one. Is the question because I spelled it right? I don’t see the point in writing aggy, it feels too much like calling us tu. No need for me to belittle them with a childish nickname, they do a fine job embarrassing themselves. back to figuring out who’ll fire the cannon.
  14. I think it moved. Girls in chaps firing a cannon sounds pretty great to me. Way better than douchebags in tan wranglers. The latter organization is way too similar to the Aggie brainwashing and hazing shit my brother experienced in the early 90’s. One of the main reasons I made a better choice and became a Longhorn.

Santorini is the only place in town that somewhat reminds me of the food in Greece. El Greco used to be really good until Gordon Ramsay fucked it up and they closed.
  16. 7-11 nachos. Just chips and cheese is great. With chili and jalapeños is great too. Sometimes I add the Cholula packets. I don’t think i’ve ever shared a single chip in all the times i’ve gotten them.

  19. Just got back today. The flowers were awesome. Our highlights were an overnight backpack up into the Chisos and an overnight raft trip. We had 2 families, each with a 6 and 9 year old. We hiked in ~4 miles and dropped off gear at the campsite in Laguna Meadow (#2-huge site, plenty of room for a big group, and right below Emory Peak), then did the 5 mile round trip to the South Rim in one day and hiked out the next day. We were so proud of the kids. My wife and I hiked it ~13 years ago, but the entire range had a cloud sitting on it so we never saw a thing. The view off the rim this time was so worth the effort with the kids (carrying all that water was a bitch). The raft trip was with Far Flung and went through Colorado and Dark Canyons in the State park. The outfitter did a great job and we all had so much fun. We also went across the border to Boquillas, went to the hot spring, hiked the window, went to the Starlight, stayed in the Tipis at Basecamp Terlingua, which were really nice, and stayed in Marathon a night. What a great place to visit.
  20. When my daughter was 15 months old, we flew up to Vermont and then drove to Nova Scotia, which is at least 10-12 hours. Just across the border from Maine, we stopped at a park/restaurant area for an hour or so to let the little one run around. When getting back in the car, I noticed a high school aged couple about to eat sandwiches in their car next to us,. They had their windows down and were not pulled all the way into the spot so our back door lined up with their front door. My daughter fought like hell as I tried to strap her into her seat. It took at least 15 seconds or so and I lost track of my surroundings. As I leaned over and struggled, I pushed out a huge, loud, disgusting fart right into this poor guys window right at his sandwich, surely ruining their lunch date. My wife and I locked eyes when we realized what happened, slammed the daughter into the seat, and tore out of there without looking at the poor couple. We then laughed historically down the road.
