  1. Just got Dave’s picks 28, 6/17/76 (the day before I was born). The quality of the mix from the Bettyboard is incredible. Listened to the first set so far. Really nice Big River, they love each other, cassidy, row jimmy, and music never stopped. Can’t wait for set 2! Keeping my complete Dave’s collection going as i’ve subscribed next year as well. Wish I would have done so with Dick’s and Road Trips.
  2. Beastie Boys at the Agora Ballroom in Dallas in 1991 right after check your head came out. ~1000 people or so.
  3. Pharmacist here. The Shingrix vaccine is very undersupplied right now and backordered everywhere. Start working on it soon if you want any chance of getting the second dose within the recommended 6 months. It makes me really surly when mfr’s come out with a new product, market the hell out of it to create a huge demand (esp. for a shingles vaccine, i’ve had shingles, it is the worst), then don’t have the product to supply the demand. Customers blame the pharmacy instead of the mfr. sucks. Sorry for the thread detail, definitely not trivial.
  4. While watching Nailed It (cooking show on Netflix) they had to make a cake shaped like a grill but the host kept calling it a barbecue. Before I could say anything my 8 yo daughter (no pics) yelled at the screen “it’s a grill, barbecue is meat!” Proud dad moment.
  5. My brother owes me some $ so i’m trying to get him to by me the FLAC of the box set in return. Need to remind him again. Amazon Prime has Truckin to Buffalo, Dead Ahead, So Far, The GD Movie, Closing of Winterland and a few other things available to stream. Buffalo seems like the whole show, but winterland is a severely edited version (maybe the version they played on PBS?) so don’t get too into the Scarlet because it cuts mid-jam for a Bobby interview and never shows Fire. No Dark Star>other one either. Better than nothing.
  6. We had brunch at rioja and dinner at work and class. Both excellent.
  7. A few years ago it was my kids favorite place and we went once or twice a week. We went less and less as they took away almost every topping they liked-corn, red pepper, cucumber slices, Romain lettuce, the pita bun, and finally the gyro meat. They deserve to go out of business.
  8. Oxygen retreat in the Dominican Republic is in your price range. I’m married so I’ll probably never get there, but it’s in your price range and looks quite intriguing. https://oxygenretreat.com/
  9. Thanks for the link and info. i obviously need to research more. I may have to check out royalty next time i'm in SA.
  10. I’ve never bought or sold gold, so maybe this should be in the dumb question amnesty thread: If someone wants to sell a 1oz gold coin and the price is listed as $1233 right now, that is the spot price? Does this mean they should get about $986 from a legitimate numismatic exchange for the coin? Do they get paid in cash? Do they or the seller have to report anything to the IRS? Also, what is a good exchange in Austin? Yelp has one on burnet listed #1 (capital coin and bullion). Thanks for the info.
  11. Has anyone mentioned The Lobster? it has a good cast and although strange as hell, was really funny. It’s the only comedy in the timeframe that i’d watch a second time.

    Gym Pet Peeves

At Body Business on Anderson I once saw a 70 year old man shaving naked at the sink. By shaving I mean lifting up his balls, shaving underneath, and rinsing the razor in the sink. I am no longer a member there.
  13. always liked this song and she is nice to look at in the video.
  14. When an announcer uses contain as a noun, as in they did a good job keeping contain. Just say they did a good job containing the quarterback.
  15. ‘Thanks for giving a damn’ by Nashville singer/songwriter Otis Gibbs has had me hooked the past couple weeks. he interviews lots of other musicians who just tell stories. They include people like Ray Wylie Hubbard, Kevin Russell, Hayes Carll, Steve Earl, Ian Hunter, Billy Bragg, Slaid Cleaves, Wayne Kramer, Chip Taylor, and lots of musicians and industry folk who worked with and tell stories about the most famous musicians out there. i started with the one about Ray Wylie Hubbard going to Joe Walsh’s wedding and haven’t heard a bad one yet.
  16. My daughter usually competes in the highland dancing competition there but we are skipping this one in favor of camping. Any way, here’s a pro tip: The knights of the brown bottle home brew club usually has a competition there that starts at noon both weekend days. For $5 you can “join” the club and drink unlimited samples to help them judge. They usually have about 20 home brews on tap. Almost missed my daughter dancing last year. Or you can be one of the morons buying $7 pints all day.
  17. My wife and I discussed and agreed that she would do most of the laundry, etc if she quit work to stay home with the kids. Eight years later, she has not gotten a job and guess who washes his own shit most of the time. Good luck with your agreement.

    2018 Shart Thread

Ordered pulled pork nachos on Sunday and subbed in fries for the chips. Qualified for the thread just after lunch at work yesterday when I tried to fart while pissing. Had to go without underwear the rest of the day. Thank god I was already in the bathroom when it happened. Never imagined myself contributing to this thread, but here I am nonetheless. I’m turning 42 soon and apparently need to be on my guard from here on out. Sonofabitch.
  19. As a pharmacist, we have no way of testing the pill short of sending it off to a lab. No pharmacy i’ve worked at has any affiliation with any such lab or budget to pay for said chemical test (I used to work at WAG) but all this is moot because no opioid user is ever going to willingly surrender even half a tablet so it can be sent away to a lab. Nor will they abstain from using the remaining pills while waiting the days or weeks to get a report back.
  20. Veracruz should be on the overrated list. Been there a few times and it was fine, nothing more. Beef fajitas ranchero on Wednesday at Habaneros’s should be top 10. One of the best $8-9 plates of food in the city.
  21. My sister-in-law knew her pretty well and worked on some charity projects with her while they were both pregnant with daughters. They both named the girls the same name. The two girls recently played on the same volleyball team. Incredibly nice lady and an awesome mother. My SIL is pretty shaken up. Horrible situation.
  22. At Phish’s Coventry festival some guy wheeled a 4 foot high nitrous tank through the crowd right behind me during the show and was selling giant balloons. Very convenient. No security anywhere. The lot was an open marketplace.
