  1. The other guys on my lease shot twelve last year, not all trophy size. They shot ten in one day. I've heard that we have about 400 on the entire 90,000 acres. This herd is the only one I've seen, and numbers about 15. We usually see them on a cliff about 2-3 miles south. If they start hitting the feeder regularly they are gonna get lit up. We never see solitary animals, just this herd. The Aoudad never linger too long at the feeders. Plenty of time for WTs to come in. CHIEF
  2. A couple of guys I know did it. You have to commute into DFW to get a paid position. The one's around here do a few in between golfing and fishing, or they are at the other end of the spectrum, slammed. All of them work independently, from home, and aren't eager to teach. I have enough in savings to do it, and would still be able to work as an agent. I'm too lazy to commute, so I will wait until the market cools a bit and find a local guy. CHIEF
  3. I normally shoot 150gr. out of my .300 WSM, I'm gonna up it to 180gr. He will probably go 300-350 lbs. on the hoof. They are amazing animals, can jump 30 feet from precipice to precipice on a cliff face. They have extremely good eyesight, its tough to get within 3-400 yards of them. If you are in a stand, at least one will be staring at you the whole time. You better have the window open and your gun already pointed in that direction when you see them. CHIEF
  4. Supposedly inedible. I hate killing anything that I don't plan to eat, but we are overran with them. I found one guy on an internet search that made passable carne guisada out of aoudad. Think I'm just gonna shoot him and cape him out. CHIEF
  5. Six months minimum, for no pay. My broker (mom) is on me now to get an appraisal license. The problem is no appraiser is willing to take on apprentices currently, they are way too busy. CHIEF
  6. https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/b40066996/, seals up holes in boats. CHIEF Jr. swears by it. CHIEF
  7. That big fucker to the right of the corn feeder is going down when it gets cold. We have had the protein feeder filled for 2 months. Been throwing corn since Saturday. First time anything has been on the game cam besides coons. CHIEF
  8. That was at Rednecks with Paychecks in about 2013-2014. Brand new Raptor, still had the paper tags on it. We didn't go until the next year, hopefully to see stupid shit like this. CHIEF
  9. This is what is killing the in-person game experience for me. After a year of not driving 180 miles to Austin, tailgating in the heat, sitting in the stands in the heat, sitting through five minutes of TV timeouts (which the TV providers take advantage of, way too much). Then driving the 180 miles back home. It's just getting to be too much. I can pause the game when it comes on, stay off Surly, and go do something else. I start the game about an hour to an hour and a half later, fast forward through all of the commercials, watch five minutes of the half time report, fast forward through all of the commercials in the second half, and usually end up live in the last three or so minutes of the fourth quarter. Games are now about 65/35 commercials to play. CHIEF
  10. CHIEF Jr. and I decided e need to go do some work at the deer lease, so we missed the Rice game. But the fire was nice, and so were the ribeyes: You can see forever: The roads are rough, pictures don't do it justice, but you hit some 60% grades: and you have to pick your way through the wash at the bottom. CHIEF
  11. I think it's the Orville and Wilbur Rickenbacker Museum. Somethin' like that. I heard they have free popcorn. CHIEF
  12. They are doing it legit. They have been renting licensed boats by the day. Apparently a lot of operators had to sell their dive boats to eat during the shutdown. If you have a dive boat, you can rent it out every day that you don’t have customers. It is expensive, and dive masters are fighting for the scraps. CHIEF
  13. I was born and raised in Cleburne, Tx. until 8th grade. My Dad was friends with David McWilliams and Pat Culpepper, Spike Owen was a God in my hometown. Everyone was a Longhorn fan. I was accepted into UT and that was my plan until oil prices collapsed in 1985 and I could live at home and commute to Tarleton. I saved up enough money to move to Colorado and went to Ft. Lewis in Durango and skied my ass off my freshman year, but the writing was on the wall. Came home, got a job as an aviation mechanic, and worked my way through Tarleton, but have always been a Texas fan. CHIEF
  14. Just let me know, I've got about 3 or 4 laying around, probably still a good one laying around somewhere. CHIEF
  15. CHIEF Jr. has my old 96 Firebird with the same LT1. The distributor is an "optispark" and sits directly under the water pump. Go to a Gen 5 97-2000ish, if you are determined to get him one. That way you get the LS1 with coil per cylinder, like the modern engines of today. It's a 305-320hp car, so about on par with a V6 Camaro, or Mustang today. CHIEF
  16. Some of the former Aldora employees Dario, Chino, and Gato have just bought boats. They found two 150 Yamahas in Playa, new, in the box. $41k for both, we are putting money together to help them purchase the engines. CHIEF Jr. is going to take a long weekend off from school and fly down and rig the boats out. This should give him an idea of logistics and working conditions and if it is worth trying to start a marine repair business on the island. If anyone wants in on it, this could be used for prepaid diving. Corona has been rough on these guys, tourism is making a comeback, but it put quite a few islanders behind the eight ball. CHIEF
  17. Hadn't seen this thread, but happened to watch the first Matrix last night, just came out on Roku. I agree. Did the Machines renege? Fucking welchers. CHIEF
  18. CHIEF

    Yellowstone

They filmed some of 1883 here in Granbury. The square has a lot of old historic buildings. Have a cousin that ended up with a bit part. Told him he better start looking for an agent, isn't that how it works? CHIEF
  19. Judas Icariot? Their spelling alone is reason to leave this conference. CHIEF
  20. Jimbo is aggy's Kirk Ferentz. More often than not, he will have them respectable, without ever winning anything of importance. They have sunk so much money into him they will never admit their bad decision and will gradually become comfortable with always being the Bridesmaid but never the Bride. CHIEF
  21. Had a fat chick from Follett birddog me hard at church camp one summer in jr. high. Hits close to home. CHIEF
  22. This is so true. ESPN has been beating the "SEC is the best" drum for a little over a decade. Even the SEC bottom feeders get more respect than all but the top 2-3 teams in every other conference. This is about recruiting. You either join due to the brainwashing of the best recruits, or you get left behind. This move really has nothing to do about money, Texas and OU were fine. It is about falling farther behind and becoming irrelevant. Donors and administrators want skins on the wall. Alumni aren't boasting about the money it is about bragging rights on the field. Our last two recruits Tapp, and Finkley picked Texas because of the SEC move. Arguably our next two most important to become competitive (Harris, and Stewart) have interest because of the SEC move. The big fish next year (Manning) it helps as well. This isn't about money, or even time slots, its about survival and staying relevant. It's nothing personal to the Irate 8, it's all about perception, and keeping eyes on your program. When no one wants to bid up your conference contract, the writing is on the wall how they feel about your conference. I truly believe that if ISU and Okie State went to the SEC, they would be firmly above Mizzu, Arky, Miss St., Vandy, and Usc. But unfortunately they will never get to prove it, and most people wouldn't give them the benefit of the doubt. Hell, most of the SEC thinks Arky is going to mop the floor with Texas this weekend. ESPN and the SEC have been sniffing their own farts too long. To be honest, I would much have the original Big XII over the SEC, for familiarity, and for the benefit of the original members. It wasn't the Big XII that forced this hand, it was the SEC. CHIEF
  23. Looking back on this thread, it looks like Tyler has hit it big along with Charlie Crockett, or at least big enough to play festivals and reunions, Red Rocks and others where the crowd is probably 10k plus. That's about what Pat Green plays now. They are pretty much on easy street now. I had kind of forgotten this thread until I saw Koe Wetzel with a couple of bandmates and his fiancé/girlfriend at the Racetrac in Granbury about an hour ago. They were icing down a case of Ziegenbock at 2:30, headed to the lake. CHIEF
  24. CHIEF Jr. is like Rainman on that old dude. Probably watches him 3-4 hours per week. Says that guy couldn't tell you which end of a cat the shit came out of, but holy fuck does he know about transmissions. CHIEF
