  1. Save your money.  Easy way for guy who makes 90% (of patient related income) from Medicare/Insurance to charge cash, at a price of their choosing, for something with a mediocre success rate.  What is the actual injury?  An MRI should have been the first thing ordered, to properly diagnose, not to find a PRP plan.  Find a new doctor too.

I visited an orthopedist first who said it was an impingement (xray) and ordered PT. That’s how I ended up with the current guy. My thought was let’s see how it goes. 6 months later, better but not healed. I will definitely get the MRI and consider all options, and doctors, but was just wondering about PRP since I’ve never heard of it.
  2. Show me one movie where Owen Wilson doesn't have his hands in his sleeves and make the same mannerisms over and over again while being just vaguely funny and I'll die of shock.  I love the films he's in, and I love that's a Longhorn, but he's the least funny comedic actor of all time.  He's Owen Wilson in every movie.  And that's not a good thing.

I’ll take him every day and twice on Sunday over Will Ferrell, who plays the same unfunny guy in every damn movie. At least Wilson has Longhorn pedigree and a crooked nose to add to his character.
  3. Looking at these two TV’s and I’ve heard great things about Sony TV.

We bought a Sony 2 years ago. Very highly rated. I can’t argue with that, the picture is great. I hate the Android OS. Continually pushes updates and is not very intuitive. A recent update has dicked up the “standby” mode, so pretty much every other time I turn it on it requires a full power on sequence. The other TVs in our house, LG and Samsung, are great in that regard .
  4. Rescue dogs are fine if you take your time to get the right match.  We've had two dogs from Heart of Texas Lab Rescue.  Our current lab was roughly 3 years old when we got her in 2009.  She's nearing the end, but has been a great dog.  We met with 3 or 4 dogs initially, but most were too young with too much energy.  I watched another couple walk this well mannered black lab and asked if we could see her.  They brought her out for a home visit and left her overnight.  She's been a blessing.

This. I can’t vouch for breed specific rescues but our last three dogs have been rescue mutts. Rescued by groups that visit shelters and snag the ones they deem most adoptable. They let you take them in on a temporary basis and make sure they are a good fit. Ours have been great.
  5. Seems like we have a few “old guys” posts here with back pain, golfers elbows, etc. So here’s another one. Last spring I jacked my shoulder on the slopes. Probably tore something. Connected with an sports medicine guy who has managed to bring it from about 70% functional to 90% functional with therapy, soft tissue work, and AWT. Still occasionally hurts at night and after a workout. Generally ok but god forbid I sleep on a hard mattress. He wants to take an MRI and come up with a PRP plan. That’s something to do with plasma . I’m all for it as I don’t want surgery. Been there done that with a rotator cuff. Anyone done this yet, eggspecially with a shoulder?

Link for anyone who like me until 2 days ago is like PRP what?

  6. The only benefit for monitoring is that your wife thinks someone is protecting her when you're not home. Nothing more. There are essentially zero stories of an alarm system saving someone. I'm sure 1 story exists  somewhere but it doesn't justify the billions in annual billing. When I called to cancel my monitoring, their only argument for me to stay was peace of mind.
An alarm system and sign out-front might be worthwhile as a deterrence.

+1 for smith Thompson. +1 for wife “peace of mind”. +1 for insurance discount.
