  1. Just got an e-mail from UTMB (Galveston County) asking me to schedule.  Getting first dose tomorrow at 2:25 in Clear Lake.  Not 1A, 1B, 1C or teacher.  Leftovers I guess?

I got mine in Collin County and didn’t get validated for eligibility. I think the take rate is low enough they don’t care. I was prepared to pull the obese card (using the shitty BMI standard) but nobody cared.
  2. My Indian Hawthornes look a little bit better. More concerning are the ligustrums we have around the perimeter of the property. Took a while to grow to their current size. Most of them barely holding on. Pretty disappointing

Maybe those are ligustrums. I’m just guessing on the big purple ones. But I’m holding out hope.
  3. My lawn seems to be ok. It’s mostly Bermuda with a side patch of St Augustine. Guess we shall see in a month or so what’s what.

My bigger concern is my landscaping. A few specimen plants I have don’t look good but they can be replaced.
Its the anchor bushes that don’t look good. Those take time to get current size. The branches are still flexible so I’m hoping it’s ok.

  4. my main filter line cracked, but the water fall/fountain pump kept going so the pool did not freeze.  Power or something stopped the pumps for about 3-4 hours and that's all it took.  have not opened up the filter yet, but it seems ok.  damage is in the in-line chlorinator and one section of pipe around a check valve.
if I had to do it again, i would just drain and cover the pipes and throw in pool floats and stuff to try and keep the surface from freezing.

If you can’t source the chlorinator, cap it off. I haven’t used mine in years. I opted for this guy instead, much easier to maintain. 583b5c49cb413c3de4e1a8388fc997be.jpg
  5. Pretty worthless without the record feature

This. We have a front door cam and a driveway cam. Driveway cam is amusing sometimes as we get random wildlife wander the premises from time to time in the wee hours, although we really got it to make sure nobody was nosing around where they shouldn’t be. If you can’t record the footage what’s the point.
  6. Is it safe to assume at this point that if you haven't lost power at all yet, that you're on a grid that is tied to something considered critical? I can't make any sense of it, and I can't figure out for the life of me what would be near me that would qualify.

Yeah in the same boat in DFW but not complaining. Blocks away from those who have been out since Monday morning.

  7. Nada. Serious trouble could be ahead...do not run your pool heater in freezing conditions. Visit troublefreepool.com and you will find many threads currently. I’m running my pumps 24/7 praying nothing freezes...even the water features. That’s what is recommended...just keep your water moving.

Ok good to know. Fingers crossed.

  8. Atmos is going to love me. I set my pool heater to 37 degrees for the next 48 hrs. Already getting ice around the edges and an indicated temp of 35.

You pool people, is this the right idea? Or will it be fine with single digit temps forecast tonight and tomorrow?

  9. I’ve only been to DFW 3-4 times in my life, and that highway looks weird to me. What’s the deal with the barriers on both sides, while there’s lanes going the same direction next to it? Construction?

Several highways in the area have a set of center lanes blocked off for directional rush hour traffic. One way in the morning, other way in the evening.
Just horrific watching this. About to teach my oldest how to drive. Will be figuring out how to incorporate this footage.
