  1. Taking the family skiing in Angel Fire, NM this next week and have plans to stop overnight in Dalhart on Sunday night. Don't think I've ever been in below zero temps before.

Anyone tried this place out yet? Goldee's BBQ https://www.dallasnews.com/food/restaurant-news/2021/02/10/im-calling-it-goldees-in-fort-worth-is-the-best-new-barbecue-joint-in-north-texas/
  3. Here's an article from the NYT that goes a little deeper in how this came about. The New York Times: Mark Cuban Says He Told Mavericks to Stop Playing Anthem. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/09/sports/basketball/dallas-mavericks-national-anthem.html
  4. Maybe Cuban was tired of the stupid ass people that yell STARS when it comes to those parts of the anthem at the AA Center???
  5. I had the foot off in that pic.
  6. I got a couple of these reciever hitch hoists that you can skin the deer from and then transport it to a cooler.
  7. That just pure genius right there. Nobody would see me all day with a set up like that for a blind.
  8. Looks like my timing actually paid off. Was going to go to Angel Fire over Christmas break for our first family ski trip but Covid did away with the kid's break. At that time only 25% of the runs were open and snow was crap. Going for kid's winter break in a couple of weeks now and the mountain has gotten a good amount of snow the past few weeks where they are at 100% trails open. So that should spread everyone out a bit. Not much to do in town as restaurants are all take-out or eat outside but I got a condo that is half block from the lifts so we'll just plan meals there. Going to ski 3 days and then hopefully snowmobile the 4th day before coming back home.
  9. And just like that the '20-'21 hunting season is done. Can I get MLD tags for ducks? Mallards are just starting to get here. It's been hell of a season with lots of great hunts and memories.
  10. I went swiping by and just saw the picture and thought "guess someone had a bad deer season and got fed up" before reading what you wrote. [emoji1787][emoji16]
  11. Never gone turkey hunting but would love to go if you ever need another gun. Could trade ya a good duck hunt.
  12. If you want them gone, go bother the piss out of them at their roost.
  13. 9 man limit this morning by 8:00 to kick off the last weekend of the duck season. It was pretty fast and furious. Dog didn't know what to do with the birds falling as she was bringing them back to the blind. Then we finished off the morning with duck kabob tacos. Going after them again tomorrow with 5 guys and we left with birds still coming in so hopefully a repeat will happen.
  14. Angel Fire is 100% open now that they got 15"+ snow in the last week. Looking forward to our trip Feb. 15th.
  15. You want Rona spatulas or badass spatulas?
  16. Nice blind. I would suggest getting it secured by more than those t-posts.
  17. If you've never taken a pole to the nuts, you aren't trying hard enough.
  18. I started up in St. Louis and transfered to their Bedford location.
  19. Went up into the attic and pulled down my ski bag that has my old equipment in it (minus skis as I sold those). I use to work for Sun and Ski sports '94-'96, so I accumulated some good ski stuff. Sold a bunch of it once I moved back to Texas and left the ski industry. First thing I saw was the last lift ticket was for Breckinridge in 1996. Ski pants - no way those are going to fit, which is a shame because they were badass pants Bibs - might actually work Spider Jacket - a little tight but I'm on a diet to lose at least 15 pounds over the next 4 weeks before going...so hopeful 2 pairs of Oakley goggles- almost disintegrated in my hands Gloves - still a perfect fit Ski boots - didn't try them on. Will probably just use the rentals as I'm not sure I trust these to hold up. 2 sets of ski poles - still looking good. Wife also had a bunch of miscellaneous clothing items in there that will still fit her or one of the girls.
  20. Let a couple of guys go out to my place this morning. First geese ever shot at my land. Have had lots fly over going from roost to the grass farm that is close by. Apparently these 2 flew a little too low.
  21. Bro, all I said about helmets was when skiing in the 90s hardly nobody wore them but now everyone does. Never said I was against them. Since I've never snowboarded I don't know what conditions are best for safety and to learn on. Thanks for the tip on wrist guards, bro.
  22. Banded Greenhead was 6.5 years old.
  23. Okay, looks like snow conditions in Angel Fire the 3rd week of Feb may still be shit. I'm really not concerned that half the mountain may be closed as it will be the kids first time, so they won't know any difference and will probably stay on greens anyways. Here's my dilemma. A friend that takes his kids snowboarding says that it's harder to snowboard on hard packed snow/oce than ski. His kid on Christmas day caught an edge on icy patch and it slammed him onto that hard pack and he broke his wrist. So, it is better to just have them learn to ski this trip if conditions stay the same or will boarding be okay for the to pick up and enjoy?
  24. My youngest girl and I had a good shoot this morning.
  25. That's a big 'ol boy right there. Good size nilgai too.
