  1. When are you going to fix said issue?
  2. Had a business meeting in North Austin with a local company and some guys in from the Northeast on Friday. It was getting around lunch time and the plan was to go get some BBQ. The owner of the local biz says "How about Salt Lick?" I throw out a couple of places without trying to be too controlling as to where we head. We look outside and it's starting to sleet. He says "Well Salt Lick is a good 20 minute drive so maybe something closer will work. He mentions some place that just took over a Mexican food joint that I've never heard of and I say "Heck, to be safe we can just go around the corner and get Rudy's with these guys so they can get some Central Texas style BBQ. He says that sounds good. At least I know what to expect and will at least enjoy it. He meets us by the elevators with his wife and she says "So, you guys want bbq and need close by. We're going to take you all to this most awesome bbq restaurant. It's called County Line BBQ...... My hopes and dreams did just as the elevator...went straight down. BBQ was shit. Only thing worthwhile was the bread and honey butter. I told the other two guys from Yankee land that when they come back to Texas, I'll personally take them to a much better BBQ place. They looked at me like "better than County Line?", like it was the best bbq they have ever had.
  3. Damn, guess I'll have to wait till they open up in Ft. Worth. Looks like cowtown has some good bbq going. 407 BBQ just reopened this weekend in their new, larger location.
  4. Does anyone speak jive?
  5. According to MSN, in Texas is at Lucy's Fried Chicken in Austin. Never been there, so don't know if true or not. https://www.msn.com/en-us/foodanddrink/restaurantsandnews/the-best-fried-chicken-in-every-state/ss-BBN9s9g?li=BBnb7Kz#image=44
  6. Had a good morning. Tomorrow is for the kids to end the season.
  7. Spent the last 2 nights processing the deer. Vacuumed sealed tenderloins, backstraps, roasts and cubed up meat for sausage and hamburger to be done later on. Lots of work but should be set on good clean meat for awhile.
  8. Did pretty good this morning. Started this morning with 25 mph winds and snow flurries. Snow stopped at shooting time but the wind kept up. Helped the birds commit but it was chilly with that wind.
  9. Looks like it's going to be a cold one in North Texas this weekend for duck hunting. Maybe all the shallow water in the fields will freeze up and concentrate the birds.
  10. I'll take 3 orders for here and 1 order to go.
  11. Here they are giving the thumbs up. Skinning and quartering on Sunday was a chore. Ran out of room to hang so a couple had to wait on the floor of the cooler.
  12. The yutes in my blind had a great hunt this evening.
  13. As mentioned before, duck eggs are legit. So if you have the space, get a couple. Plus the duck poop is great fertilizer. My next door neighbor has a kiddie pool that the ducks swim in and if course poop in. She takes that water and pours it in her veggie garden with terrific results.
  14. Never had an issue with browning meat using saute.
  15. Yep, we use to pound the geese with Stanfields in the late 90's and early 00's.
  16. Our 4th annual yute hunt weekend is underway. Got 2 does this morning. The boy in the Rhino shot his first deer ever. He saw a big 10 but the buck busted them in the blind before he could get set. Had a huge brunch and going to get after them again this afternoon.
  17. Knox City has slowed way down in goose numbers. Not as many peanut farmers as there use to be and every Tom, Dik, and Harry have turned into guides. That has put a bunch of pressure on them. I thought Stanfield moved their operations to Oklahoma. Lubbock or the panhandle is where the bigger concentration of geese are now.
  18. Go to the panhandle. Tons of canadas up there.
  19. Try doing the yellow squash. It is a softer texture and comes out round in the spiralizer like pasta.
  20. My family will do the zoodles, but leave them raw and put the hot pasta sauce over it. Also, we like the Rao's Marinara Sauce mixed with venison.
  21. MSN came out with the Best Mexican Food Resturants in every state and according to them, the best in Texas is Ninfa's in Houston. Not sure about that, but I am intrigued by the Shrimp Wrapped in Bacon Tacos. https://www.msn.com/en-us/foodanddrink/restaurantsandnews/best-mexican-restaurant-in-every-state/ss-BBOfmtz?li=BBnb7Kz#image=44 Texas: Ninfa's Address: 2704 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003 Rating: 9.1/10 Ninfa's on Navigation is the best spot for Mexican in the state of Texas, but also ranked #4 for cheese in Houston—most likely be attributed to its queso flameado: a cheese casserole with chorizo. The shrimp wrapped in bacon tacos are also a must order.
  22. It sucks in North Texas right now.
  23. Recipe?
  24. Yep, they are now located at Hwy. 276 and FM 549 with a bigger trailer, pit and eating area.
  25. The duck season has hit the bottom of the barrel. Too much water and not enough ducks around. This mornings hunt was the worst I've had in 3 seasons. 3 guys and got 2 ducks. Probably saw 10 ducks all morning.
