  1. Went this afternoon to my place to get the last feeder set with the spintech spin plate because I could get the damn thing to work when getting it set up this past weekend. Ends up that the motor was spinning the wrong way so the plate wasn't able to come down. After figuring that out, it works like a champ. I now have eliminator or spintech plates on my 3 feeders. F-U racoons. Also, caught a nice surprise in the wetlands. A group of about 20 blue wing teal were just hanging out, enjoying the hot weather. Didn't want to get too close and scare them up so took some pics through binoculars I had in the Rhino.
  2. The longest week has started. Counting down the hours till Friday to set out on dove hunting land and smoke some barrels for a couple of days.
  3. It's a hornworm and you want to get rid of them immediately. They will kill a garden quickly.
  4. What protein time feeder do you have? I've typically just sling corn because of all the damn racoons. I put on eliminator plates last weekend and filled the hoppers with Buck Ration to try and get some protein going. This is our 3rd year to set up for deer on my place so adding things as we go along. Really want to do more protein but can't do it with all the racoons. Not sure if I have the deer population to keep a timed feeder cleaned out before the night when the coons come out. I had to set my cameras to 3-5 minutes between shots or I would have a thousand picks of those damn things climbing all over everything trying to get to the corn. I've built several rodent cages with chicken wire but then the corn hits it and falls straight down so the corn piles up right underneath the feeder. Going out tomorrow to check on the feeders, pull cards and see how well the eliminator plates helped.
  5. Damn that looks good. Once I'm off this diet. I'm going straight for the risotto.
  6. Spend a little on sandblasting and repaint with high heat paint. It will look like new.
  7. The TX BBQ Posse just had a write up about this place and it sounds like a solid bbq joint.
  8. That's what got me into this mess. Now I got to spend even more money for quality arrows, blades, target, etc.
  9. The ad worked to get the lower price, but now I have to figure out how to sneak it into my gun closet. By the way, stop posting these good deals. Its costing me too much money.
  10. What store did you go to and what city does it show when you click the link for the weekly ad? I don't get the "hot deals" page and it sets my store to Mesquite.
  11. When I click on the link in your post, it is giving me the weekly ad with $319 pricing for the crossbow. What city are you pulling up? Mine is for the Rockwall store.
  12. I would like to just see my county go to being able to take a doe anytime of the season rather than the special doe season which is only the 4 days over the Thanksgiving weekend.
  13. Yep, your soil is key. There are home test kids for soil to let you know what you may be deficient in. I hardly ever start from seed and do transplants from a nursery. I know you can't do that with carrots and maybe why I haven't tried them in my garden. However, I did just plant a row of green beans and a row of snap peas seeds for our fall garden.
  14. Well, looks like most of my seeding went to waste with all this rain. Check the wetland out and water pretty much covered up whatever I planted. I'll get after it again this coming weekend with the new water line.
  15. Since it was raining this weekend, decided to make more sweet and dill pickles.
  16. Nice harvest. Yes, shading to keep it just a little cooler on the plants and good watering can get you through a hot summer. Good sweet potato bunch you have there. I plan on doing sweet potato next year.
  17. You can see how a lot of the bucks were "waiting" until the does got done. In one pic you see one doe on her hind legs, which looks like she was bitch slapping someone. Feeding quality protein and enough of it is an expensive endeavor, but worth it to see the results.

Yep, seems Justin isn't staying on the pits like he should. Too many other hands running the pits and not getting good consistency.
  19. Started prepping the wetlands with millet and milo seed in the mudflats. Will continue over the next couple of weeks while the water continues to drop.
  20. Yep, very salty and spicy. This was the first time using the Instant Pot and glad there was a frozen pizza around to eat for dinner instead.
  21. The same reason Dickeys is still in business. People are bbq ignorant.
  22. Forgot to say they are one of the ones that made Texas Monthly's 10 New and Notable BBQ Joints to go with their Top 50.
  23. Exactly what I've gone to for a little moisture to help the rub to stick.
  24. Awesome paint job on the ETS. If your firebox isn't insulated, you should be dropping new logs into it about every 45 minutes. That's why when I went away from my trailer smoker, I got something I could not have to tend to it all the time.
  25. Picked up this 40' trailer this weekend to put at my hunting land. It's a hurricane "survivor" that needs some fixing up but will be a good camp trailer to fit the entire family.
