  1. LHN app has a highlight package. https://watch.longhornnetwork.com/video/700872?showInterstitial=false
  2. Corby and Junior have gone dark on Twitter since yesterday. Tuesday will be glorious. Bob is definitely going to stick the knife in on OU.
  3. I also think the time change didn't help with the crush of people. It was supposed to spread out the lines getting in better but it felt like it had the opposite effect. I'm sure because of the heat, many people waited to go in so they weren't just sitting there baking in the sun. At least with the early kick, people can head straight in when they arrive at the Fair as opposed to waiting around and causing a further log jam. I would get rid of all the tables in front of the main entrance. You shouldn't have to dodge people sitting out there. Move it all back by the lagoon. Thankfully Gameday wasn't there to make it even worse. I think they need to figure out a queue system instead of just the free for all at the entrances. To get into the Fair security, we had to go through a queue with barriers to make you form into a line. Maybe try that at the gates. There's probably just not enough room.
  4. They might've provided better competition yesterday......
  5. There's no way to do that given the constraints of the space. You have permanent buildings outside half of the stadium. The front entrance is about the best place but you'd have to remove concessions to do that and those spaces are rented for the entire time of the State Fair because it's a high traffic area. You can't shut down the Midway because then you're cut off a main avenue of the Fair. Texas and OU need to insist that the ticketing situation get figured out. It's just a venue not meant for that many people in an era where digital tickets are now the only way to get in. They need to consult with Dos Equis Pavilion on how to get people easily into the venue but there's just not enough room in and around the Cotton Bowl.
  6. Quinn was rusty and it showed. He was tentative and it showed. Sark probably didn't call the best set of plays to get his feet wet. But in the 4th series he settled down and had the great crossing pass. It feels like we ran a lot of 2 TE formations yesterday. With Bond out, Quinn lost his downhill threat. I was hoping we'd take some deep shots but that didn't happen. But the dude is 2-1 against OU with two historical blowouts which we very rarely get. I think he'll turn in a much better performance against Georgia. The TD run was both electric and defiant. He proved his point to OU that he wasn't scared of contact.
  7. Anthony Hill is our worst player. Holy shit. I hope he enjoyed those 2 sacks, 11 total tackles, 7 solo tackles, and 3.5 tackles for a loss that our worst player got on his team.
  8. Oh our defense had way more to do with it but I don't think OU has that much talent on offense in general. Hawkins is their best weapon but if he can't score then OU is buried. Maybe they'll do better once they get some receivers back but I think they're going to face too many teams with better offenses than their own.
  9. And OU won't be unless they win against South Carolina and Maine.
  10. Well get there early or that's on you. The Fair Park area is what it is. We approached our favored parking lot at 9:50 and got right in. When we left we got out pretty easily because we parked right by the exit and walked farther out. There are ways around the mess, you just have to find them. As far as DART, it was designed poorly because they didn't go elevated with the rail line to avoid cross traffic because it was too expensive. If bisects two major streets that lead to 30. There is no way to have only trains go through other than shutting down all streets around the northern end of the Fair. Sure, it's a design flaw but they weren't thinking of Texas OU when they were putting a line meant to service Southern Dallas commuters.
  11. Let's be honest. The stadium is a problem because it was never meant to house 100,000+ people. It was only ever meant to hold 65K. The buildout should've been a lot wider but they were working with the existing footprint. The endzone concourses are way too tiny and you throw in restrooms, concessions, water/beer stands, then it's a recipe for a clogged mess. The ability to get from the outside to the upper level is bad and vice versa. Like I said before, I think the renovations will address this. More entrances and exits. Escalators and more stairs to get people inside and out. Open areas to put in more concessions. It should help. From this: To this:
  12. True, unless you're in the lower level behind the pillars. We once sat in row 65 under the overhang and it felt like we weren't even at the game. I think that was 2010 which was another Mack shitfest. They put in TVs under there so people can keep up with the action but you can't see a punt or deep throw. The pillars start at row 49 so anything after and you might get an obstructed view.
  13. Logistically, there is no way to get people out of the Fair Park area after 10pm. I've attended Fourth of July fireworks at the Cotton Bowl. There's maybe 30,000 people there if I'm being conservative. The traffic to get out is easily an hour. The streets are too tiny and the DART line cuts off the easiest access to the highway.
  14. Agreed. I think people who are angry about the experience yesterday need to email or tweet CDC. The contract has to stipulate concession requirements. I know the renovations will create more outdoor terraces on the upper levels so I'd imagine they will move a lot of the booths out there so that will free up the concourses. There's supposed to be escalators going in between the press box to endzones on both the Texas and OU ends. More stairs to lead down from the upper level and I think you can circumnavigate the upper level. Basically the front where everyone is packed in will be redone. I said upthread a big problem is all the stupid shit around the stadium that needs to move out. The dumb hospitality tent outside the Texas endzone that makes everyone get bottlenecked trying to get around it. All the dumb shit on the north end main entrance that bottles up people. We found a nice set of staircases near the press box that take you right down from the upper level to just under the main stairs. That made it a lot easier to get out because I don't think anyone is aware they exist. I'm not sure the extent of what they plan on renovating the non-press box side. I think the focus is the front entrance area and alleviating the bottlenecks there.
  15. He might be their Charlie Strong and this isn't the Big 12 where they can roll out and out-talent the other side. At this point, their talent is not very good. There wasn't a single position yesterday other than holder where OU had a better player than us. Given South Carolina took Alabama to the brink in Tuscaloosa, I don't think OU is a given to win next weekend. Then they will get throttled by Ole Miss. Mizzou is a tossup. Alabama and LSU will destroy them. Their last win could be Maine if they don't beat South Carolina this Saturday.
  16. No, if we're going to piss away tradition then take it home and home. Fuck everything about JerryWorld. Maybe let's see how the renovations work out next season before advocating for the worst possible option.
  17. Oldest and I are trying to watch Halloween/horror movies all this month. Watched Silence of the Lambs on Friday and The Boogeyman last night. Silence of the Lambs is still so damn good. The way it's shot with the conversational camera angles on the actors, Anthony Hopkins excellent acting, Buffalo Bill. So good. The Boogeyman is a 2023 movie adapted from a Stephen King short story. Had some good jump scares and general creepiness. Definitely felt like a Stephen King story with the creature and why it existed. We're planning to watch The VVitch, Hereditary, Insidious, Dr. Sleep (since she's already seen The Shining), Sleepy Hollow, and if she's ready The Exorcist. She's 16 and has seen most of the classics. I was thinking maybe Texas Chainsaw Massacre. We may watch The Crow since it's Halloween adjacent.
  18. Him on one side and Collin Simmons on the other is going to be a lethal combination.
  19. I think some in Dallas simply don't know the game is happening this weekend and that's the only day they can take the family which is odd since DISD Fair days were Thursday and Friday of this week but some folks can't get off work. And I get what you're saying about it being a burden. mdleast and I talked about is the juice worth the squeeze given all the shit you deal with around the game. I think the best thing if we're going to do 2:30 going forward is to get all our shit in early like Fletcher's and then just hang out at the Magnolia Lounge area where they have the TVs and just wait for the time to get into the stadium for kickoff. That's a lot better than the constant lines and crowding. I think the game needs to go back to 11 though. Just a better time to not kill everyone and to get people in quickly. The sun was a beating before the game but wasn't bad in 113. Cooling towels and multiple waters bought before we walked in helped. We dunked our towels in the ice water and it stayed cold for a good quarter. 2nd half the sun was behind us and then tucked behind the stadium and it was great. The real sweet spot is the lower level, press box side to corner in the 40th rows like the poster above had.
  20. The RB pass was really nice when you're already up big. I think that was a little payback for last year.
