  1. Some terrible attempts taken so far. Ali has to stand on his head now.
  2. Great save by Kerkez. We have to get out of our end.
  3. Damn Endo. Let's not take out our new teammates.
  4. So maybe not a flop but I think this is the new normal for non-Avenger bringing back the old cast type movies. Marvel is going to need to start adjusting.
  5. Letting them keep it on our end too much.
  6. Going in about 2 hours. Can't wait.

I love that late 80s Marvel art. McFarlane's Spider-Man run, Jim Lee on Punisher and X-Men, Whilce Portacio on X-Factor, Art Adams, Marc Silvestri, Barry Windsor-Smith, John Romita, Jr on Daredevil. Then the 90s cheese started to take hold.
  8. It might be. She liked that the school offered 600 different club options to get involved and meet people. Her high school is basically a commuter school since everyone is from all over the Dallas area. She travels 20-30 minutes to hang out with friends or spend the night. I don't think that would bother her as much. I don't think it will rate as highly after she sees UC San Diego or San Diego State. The California app lets you apply to multiple schools so we'll fire some off to places like UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly. We're trying to cast a wide net and see what offers she gets. Then she has some time to decide a fit and we can take other trips to see what's the best fit. Ultimately, I think she'd be fine at UTSA. We put some of these schools in different tiers. I think schools like Trinity, Colorado College, and UC-Boulder would get her out of her shell and out into the world to see and do things. UTSA, UC-Irvine, Colorado State would all be ones where she probably doesn't get out as much and does more of what she's doing now. Honestly, that's okay too. It's her college experience. We just want a place that fits and isn't hard for us to get up there. It's not like when my wife and I went to college and we didn't really need or want our parents visiting. She's still a kid that's having difficulty standing on her own two feet. It's getting better though.
  9. Nice. This new squad is going to be fun.
  10. Hell yeah, Mo.
  11. Doctor, always try to do the right thing. That's it? That's it.
  12. Set up our UT tour for Columbus Day so she doesn't miss another day of school. That's more to decide if 3 years at UT with one somewhere else is something she really wants to do if offered versus 4 full years somewhere else.
  13. I turned off all notifications about rep because who fucking cares. What a stupid, insecure thing to worry about. But as we've seen the self-identifying "alphas" on this site really get pissy when they get negative feedback which usually leads to whining on multiple boards and demonstrating the beta tendencies they constantly prescribe to libs. Or they have amusing meltdowns complete with taking their toys and going home. That's specific to a certain Highland Park douchebag who Penelope seems to make act like a massive toddler.
  14. Yeah, it's 5 miles from Newport Beach, 1.5 hours from San Diego, 1 hour from downtown LA. You have 2 airports close by. Disneyland is there for some fun. I joked she could work at Disney in the summers. UCI has some great work study requirements to complete your degree which would help you get a leg up on jobs since you would be working directly in the field you're studying in. It felt like a California version of UTSA but with being less of a commuter school and a much better campus and climate. It's not UCLA or UC-Berkeley but it would definitely be a good place to spend 4 years. I feel like she'll like UC-San Diego more when we tour next month. Also going to look at San Diego State.
  15. We dropped by UC-Irvine for a college tour this past Wednesday when we were in Anaheim for our Disneyland vacation. Took a Lyft out to Irvine from our hotel. It's a really interesting campus. There's a giant park in the middle and then a couple of rings that go outward from there. The first ring are the original set of campus buildings and they all look like something out of a retro future film from the early 60s. I believe films and TV shows have used the buildings there as backgrounds. The next ring is the more modern buildings. Directly across a pedestrian bridge was a shopping center with a Target, a movie theater, a Trader Joe's, an In-n-Out Burger, and other food options. It is barely a 10 minute drive to the Orange County airport. My daughter really liked the campus and wants to apply. We're touring some of the San Diego schools next month. We're about to meet her college coach so she can get on the essays and debrief him on all the visits we've taken and which schools she liked the best. I think we're going to go down to UT in September so she can get the full tour and we can discuss if the CAP was offered would being at Texas be enough of a motivation to do it.
