  1. I agree with using yes sir and ma’am out of respect. My wife was adamantly opposed in the beginning but then saw the fruits of it in our friends’ kids. That and our kids were smarting off to her.... We also make our kids address adults as Mr and Mrs; no first names.
  2. You sure your vacuum isn’t phishing you?
  3. Lol, I just discovered my wife didn’t know the Fiji water was shipped from Fiji.
  4. What you describe there is basic cleanliness. I couldn’t live like that either.
  5. Tks. Yeah most look like geriatric appliances. If you got an adjustable t-valve for your Brondell, could you please share a link?
  6. Seeking some help, fellas. I’m taking the plunge and getting my PhD in pooping. I need a recommendation for a cold only water bidet, single spray. I assume variable pressure is a good feature for control or does the variability just add another variable to mess up the aim? If I don’t buy a low profile, I’ll need new toilet seat bumpers? Astor, Luxe, Brondel? The squatty potty is already in the shopping cart, just need help getting the right bidet to minimize the gripping from the Mrs. C.
  7. Agree marriage to someone with OCD cleaning habits is better than marriage to a slob. However, it’s important to note that these OCD behaviors are a pain in the ass. Yes your house is clean but there are certainly trade offs that make you wonder if they outweigh the benefit. For example, a clean ass kitchen is amazing but not being able to use it because OCD rules are too complex to follow. Or listening to the constant complaining about how no one helps or how everyone is a slob can be a pain too... you can say grow a pair and be the man of the house all you want, but OCD is not exempt from being undefeated... not only that but not all clean freak ocd wives are all created equally. Some may go ape ship over a few things and completely ignore others. I know a few clean OCD wives and it’s not as glamorous as you think. Let those dudes vent without judgement, it ain’t a humblebrag. My wife has a thing for the floors like it’s a sensory thing. To help me deal with it some level of compassion, I pretend she’s on the spectrum.
  8. I think the point is It ain’t cleaning if it ain’t dirty...
  9. Is the self cleaning feature needed?
  10. Seems The Cowboys match up well against short QBs...
  11. Gagree... get a post, don’t attach to house, especially to the roof
  12. FYI - there is regular street racing on SH130 at night... I avoid using it in the wee hours
  13. Everyone should have their credit frozen with all three major bureaus by default. No exceptions. File a police report whenever you’re a victim of identity theft. Also ask The police if you should contact the FBI. In addition file a fraud Report with the IRS because your Social Security number was used fraudulently elsewhere. The more paperwork you have indicating you were a victim, the easier it will be to clean up any messes.
  14. Midtown, that sounds reasonable but I would never let my kids do my laundry for fear they would mess up my clothes. My only other suggestion is that you do chores along with them so you are working as a team. After dinner, everyone helps with clearing the table and washing the dishes. When it’s time to clean house, one dusts, one vacuums, and one does the floors, etc. Also, this way you knock the work out faster so you have more time for fun...really good thing since you only have them 50%.
  15. Yes, after the equifax breech Congress passes a law prohibiting the bureaus from charging you to feeeze/unfreeze your credit. I keep my credit frozen too. It’s the lesser of the two pain in the asses.
  16. The crazy thing is that many religions believe in demons and the various understanding of their nature have a lot of similarities. It’s hard to pinpoint one faith. However, if you want to start blaming someone start with the Jews since the OT came before the NT.
  17. This is my experience too. 45 is the new 40. Going above and beyond or crunch time starts at 50. I love what I do and am blessed with the compensation so I’m not complaining. Yup, I too don’t think reduced hours works. Corporate America is greedy, there is strong global competition like never before, and people still measure their own worth by the work they accomplish. This concept is spilling into other geos. I managed employees in countries where they have laws prohibiting working more than X hours. I couldn’t get those people to stick to their hours. They would always claim that they could choose what they did in their free time. I had a family member that had a 30 hour agreement (layout design engineer). Employer would not keep realistic expectations and she would work 40 each week. While they paid her overtime, it’s not what she signed up for (medical reasons). She threatened to quit and they would adjust, hours creeped up again and threatened again, back and forth and she finally quit. I could go on and on with examples.
  18. https://www.sittercity.com/parents/find-child-care/how-much-should-you-pay-your-sitter-or-nanny $13 to $15 is about right in Austin. With that said, we don’t let our daughter charge that much because we want to encourage couples to go out on dates so they focus on their marriage. She agrees with that. She charges $10 for the first 2 hours and $13 per for each additional hour. With that said she only babysits for our friends and some neighbors. Some of it also depends on the family as well. For example, we have some friends who live paycheck to paycheck and she charged them $7 per hour.
  19. Congrats. That’s really awesome to have a large family of academics. Keep up the good work. We are still 3 years away for the first to start applying. She wants to go to UT but I think she’d do better in a smaller environment.
  20. Thanks, this was an excellent read. Best thing I’ve learned all day...
  21. Proper installation is more important. There are a lot of jumpers and configurations. Improper setup will lead to higher failure rates and lower efficiency. Get a recommendation on a good installer and don’t sweat paying a little more.
