  1. It's the worst of both worlds for me now. They don't make good drama movies anymore. It's all comic book shit for overgrown children. The great drama writing is definitely on TV/streaming . . . but great editing also died long ago. So instead of a tight 2 hour mystery or drama, we get some bloated 8-10 hour nonsense. Case in point: presumed innocent the movie vs the steaming pile of shit from apple.
  2. Because presumably then everyone else will want that tech. Or, at the beginning, at least want it to be used to transport goods ("why not make our lives easier??"). But then information will travel more quickly. And porters will become obsolete, so a whole slew of new jobs will have to be found for them in an economy that is constrained in obvious ways. This will only snowball, leading to all other sorts of downstream (or upstream?) consequences that are hard to anticipate for central planners. Innovation and progress are very "bad" for the silo's order. It's better to let the people enjoy some low level relics as a form of rebellion rather then let them get a taste of what actual creative destruction might look like.
  3. I'm glad they are not drawing it out. Honestly, this season has been a bit meh to me. Notice there's not much discussion of the episodes on this thread. There's not much really to discuss. It's painfully slow at times. Am I supposed to really care about these mechanical characters? They seem 2 dimensional and just thrown out at us. Meh. If they die, they die. the deus ex machina, particularly on the stairs, is annoying and frankly insulting Sims is a shit character and actor and needs to be offed. I actually think the show would benefit by less focus on characters that we don't care about and more on the intrigue of the silo, not just in its origin story, but also how it works to maintain order, hierarchy, and custom. It's a fascinating world and we see little of the institutional details. Take for example the porters, who are just convenient backstabbers in this episode. But they are critical to the movement of good across the silo. And the grappling hook would presumably make them obsolete (and allow for quicker flow of information), which the founders can't have for many layered reasons. I find this much more interesting and thought provoking than whether the head of mechanical makes it or not.
  4. If I get out of this hole I'm going to Tupelo
  5. The coach is a real piece of work, is what I have heard.
  6. I still don't see the point of meadow's story, which wasn't in the book apparently. I see why. Bernard: Meadows, stop drinking, I need you. Meadows: Ok, you should do X. And I want to escape. Bernard: Great, I will do Y. And get you a suit. And you are now apparently disposable. Want to come over for dinner?
  7. Lol at the quinn apologists claiming that surly is overreacting. or "I just don't agree with Jerry's take" here. Try going on twitter and searching Quinn Ewers to get the sports world's take outside the UT bubble. It's far more harsh. And it's 100% accurate. I guaranfuckingtee if he played for OU or ATM everyone on this thread would be united in shitting on him. He's an average QB on a team surrounded by elite talent. But most average QBs just have all-around average skills. He's unique in his variance - incredible throws at times, followed by complete "how the fuck is this dude a D1 QB?" pants shitting. It averages out to, at best, average. Arguing individual plays or games or stats is silly and beside the point. Our offense has been held back since he came back from injury. Period. There's better talent on the bench that deserves a shot and is not getting it.
  8. Honestly, i had forgotten all about Gibson. He's been disappeared like some CCP member who said something wrong at a state dinner. 2023 holla!
  9. Yeah, I was just going to bring this up. Personnel wise, we have two big problems IMO: QB and RB. QB is all on Sark - it's a total goatfuck and the the most frustrating thing about this whole season for 98% of the fanbase. RB is not. Our two big backs on the roster both went down, and we really need a bigger back for inside zone to keep the middle of the field defenders honest and not so committed to the perimeter and pass coverage.
  10. Yeah . . . that was a big part of my point. Not having a reliable running game against good defenses, paired with a limited QB, is a recipe for a loss against good teams down the stretch at the end of the season. We've seen that two seasons in a row. That's completely on Sark.
  11. that's not 3rd and medium, and you picked one out of a myriad of issues to unsuccessfully refute. Yeah, other teams have good coaches too. I never said or implied otherwise. And they have been objectively better in big/championship games the last two years than Sark. As an example, go back and watch the over time playcalling yesterday for Georgia vs us. We are wasting plays with deep passes to the end zone that QE sucks at while Georgia sticks to high percentage plays with their backup. Bobo schooled Sark in OT.
  12. Sark won me over last year and we are not going to get anyone better. But he deserves all the blame for turbo fucking the offense this year. We have the best defense we’ve had in about 20 years and we’ve paired that with a limpdick offense littered with 5 stars and easily millions in NIL money. We are undisciplined and dick step constantly. We have a head case noodle arm qb that Saban would have benched long ago. We have razzle dazzle plays that look great on sports center against bumfuck state, but can’t run a sensible high percentage play to convert 3rd and medium when the championship game is on the line. We have no reliable running game to fall back on against really good defenses. Etc etc. Yes, Bert sucks, but he only had so much stage time in this game because our offense shit itself in the red zone as it seemingly always does. If you would have told me when he was hired that our main issue with Sark in year 4 was not program building, or defense, but instead offensive ineptitude and QB management, I would have been incredulous. But he we are. We are pretty good. We are close, but also far away.
  13. I wouldn't trust any of the QBs in this draft class; it's incredibly weak. Anyone that wastes a draft pick on QE is a fool. He's barely an average college QB.
  14. That's two years in a row of bed shitting late in big games at the end of the year.
  15. Sark is an elite play designer. As a play caller, in big moments, meh. Bobo schooled him down the stretch in this one.
  16. yes, just dreadful. He's great at crazy razzle dazzle stuff when the game is not on the line. In big games down the stretch the last two years, his playcalling seems to be "just throw some shit against the wall."
  17. Fitting end to the regular season IMO. What could have been. We are a good team, but stupid mistakes, boneheaded playcalling in key situations, and a starting QB that should be on the bench are holding us back from being great.
  18. Suppose Nancy sees me coming out of the shower and decides to come on to me. I'm looking good, got a luscious V of hair going through my chest pubes down to my ball fro. She takes one look at me and goes Oh, my God, I've had the old bull, now I want the young calf.
  19. why are you so sweaty? I was watching COPS.
  20. This fuckin guy. Lulz. I guess the answer is: yes. yes we do.
  21. I went to the last fall game and ViVi was out for that one. They had Goode at SS and Brister and Bennett at 2nd. Unfortunately, none of the newcomers this year really stood out all fall (I went to 3 of the games - they were free).
  22. That's a big blow for our offense; we will be ok defensively.
