  1. There used to be plenty of street/lot parking for softball, but with the new graduate student housing, it is hard to come by.
  2. I think everyone hopes Sark is the guy. He seems like a good dude, has a great comeback story, recruits well, and is a great offensive mind, even if he gets too cute/stubborn at times. The jury is still out as to whether we will likely contend for anything of significance with him or if he's just a 9-3 coach. I personally am still in the doubter camp. That said, barring some collapse or booze/sex scandal, he probably will and should be here a while. I've seen nothing from our athletic department to convince me we could hire anyone better. We suck at hiring football coaches - we're not OU.

Yes, but Brooks is a very good back, even if he's not these two. There's no personnel reason for us to have one of the worst TD conversion rates in college football. Or are you saying Sark needs a generational back to have a good red zone TD %?

Why is our red zone offense so bad this year? It was OK last year, and great in 21. One theory I have is that Sark really seems to love setting up the run with the pass this year. I've noticed this opening up games and at times during the games. In the red zone, when things get compressed, this is hard to do, so our run and pass game get bogged down. I really have no idea though. It's mind bottling. He's been asked about this multiple times in PCs and he blows off the question. I'm not sure he really has the answer.
  5. It means something when you are playing mostly back up QBs and teams that can't pass. You may not like or wish to ignore the signal it's telling you, but it's telling you something. Also, we have not had tons of garbage time in our games this year - most games have been close going into the 4th quarter. More importantly than adjusted or unadjusted stats though, I care more about continuing coverage busts we keep seeing. It means our guys don't know what they are doing. That's mostly on the coaches. And on the last drive that decided the game, I think coverage busts played a bigger role than the actual coverages PK was calling. Perhaps that's correctible. We will see.
  6. Meh, our pass defense is not good, regardless of what adjusted stats say. We've played essentially no one that can pass competently this year, other than OU, yet we've surrendered 200+ yards through the air on average, and our safeties and LBs have looked lost in coverage/burned multiple times in multiple games. On OU, I agree the blame goes all around. But our defense, particularly in the 2nd half, was not "good" against OU. There were a lot of easy OU fuckups that we did not force that killed their drives (missed FG and two or three easy passes that DG missed come to mind). When we needed our pass defense to really step up, they shit the bed. Badly. If that's good defense, I'd hate to see bad.
  7. PK has really improved our run defense (QB runs notwithstanding lol). I said upthread prior to OU that I didn't trust our pass defense. OU was the 1st good passing team (or one with a non-back up QB) we've faced this year and it showed. Part of the issue is we still don't have a reliable edge rusher. But a bigger issue is we simply don't defend the pass well, with miscommunication/misunderstanding among LBs and safeties, three years into PK's system. If we played in the big 12 from a decade ago, he would get carved up.
  8. That's George Floyd era. Everyone is in a mask and there's a sign with George Floyd.
  9. Sark was never able to build the talent level at previous stops to where's he's got it at Texas. The talent advantage alone bumps him from 7 win Steve to 8 or 9 win Steve.

Sark said he would change nothing in terms of clock management on our last offensive drive. Ok cool. There's a reason some coaches are better in close games than others.
  11. hold back. why on god's green earth haven't we learned this over the last decade? Big 12 doesn't call holding, even now when they have every reason to against OU. You can hold with impunity. We should be teaching it as an artform.
  12. I predicted 8-4 at the beginning of the year. Then 10-2 after we beat Bama. Still sticking to 10-2, but I could easily see 9-3. Nonetheless, good or bad, I've resigned myself to the fact that we're riding Sark for the foreseebale future. To pour one out for the recently departed Charlie Robison, he's probably not the best, but he's the best that we can do.
  13. I agree with Scipio's 2-3 most important points from the defense breakdown: 1) PK got outcoached 2) Our defense did not really play that great in the 2nd half. I'm hearing a lot of the talking heads on radio/youtube today saying we got stuff figured out in the 2nd half. I don't think I totally buy that. 3) This OU roster has some glaring holes. If they had an upgraded WR and OL, they would have beaten us badly in this game.
  14. How in the world is a DC in 2023 not prepared for a hurry up offense? This is not some new fad invented last year. Pk is an enigma to me.
  15. Last year in the Alamo bowl we played so far off their receivers that easy come back routes were wide open all game. We never adjusted or challenged them.

In 15 minutes, you guys are gonna be fuckin fine with this. So I'll just sum it up this way, as fast as I can. That is the most humiliating game in the last fuckin 10 years I've been involved with. how can we fuckin not score 1st and goal from the 1? How could you fuckin do that? What do you think you are doing? This isn’t some goddamn game!!! It’s about our lives!!!!! Like I said 15 minutes from now you won’t give a shit, but I gotta fucking live with this embarrassing game for the rest of my fucking life!!
  17. Agree to disagree I guess. His biggest strength to me is on the whiteboard (designing an offense). He's elite. He's a wizard with using motion and formation to get his guys the most favorable match ups. But if we are talking actually picking plays in-game , reacting to what the defense is doing in the moment (or even scripting the beginning of games), I don't think he's elite. He seems rather average, and I think he might benefit from a talented partner/underling that can pursue more of a "let's take what the defense gives us in the confines of this offense" approach during games. In fact, I read on another board that the Washington coaches said this was Sark's biggest weakness and they used it against him in the Alamo bowl. He's too stubborn/prideful at times to just take what the defense is offering. But I agree there is no way he's handing over the keys to the sports car he designed to someone else. It's his baby, and that's what we got when we hired him.

Yes, we were outcoached. Blame goes all around. On the coaching side, we had the talent advantage overall, which helped us in quarters 2-4, but we lost a close one due to: 1) poor gameplan on defense. Our run defense has been solid all year, but we are not a great pass defense and have not really played a great throwing QB. Having no plan or adjustments for Gabriel's legs is also really bad. I still don't trust PK in big games. I won't even get into the boneheaded prevent we went into to lose us the game at the end. 2) poor clock management down the stretch. Sark seems to struggle with this. 3) poor red zone calls and execution (this is a season-long problem) 4) losing the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball (even before Majors went out). If you don't think intensity/fire played a role here, I don't know what to tell you. Per 995, Sark told his team to "withstand the surge" and play collected all week. In his pregrame interview, he said he told the team to "have fun." That shit makes Mack moist. You have to approach the OU game like a prison fight and it was obvious we did not match OU's intensity in the 1st quarter or even for the whole game for that matter. If you gave their staff our talent advantage, they would have beaten us badly. 5) there's a recent SNL skit where mom is taking pictures of her daughter and prom date, and dad thinks it would be funny to pose with a gun to tell the date not to get any ideas, but the dad ends up blowing his dick off. We seem to do that in every game, multiple times on offense. I have a hard time believing that's all on the players. However, I'm still predicting 10-2 with a rematch in the CCG.
  19. Sark is a great play designer. One of the best in the business. He’s not a great play caller in my opinion. He gets too cute yet too stubborn. His scripting at the beginning of games is dreadful at times. He’s also pretty bad at clock management. He would benefit from a play caller that he trusts, but I doubt he will ever turn over the reigns.
  20. Early on in this thread, I said I didn’t trust this guy to gameplan for big games. I still don’t.

We have no business being in any playoff. Washington, Michigan, Oregon, etc would kick the shit out of us.
