It's a no for me dog. Since 2015, general fund spending on public safety (police, fire EMS) has gone up around 2-3 % per year. Non safety general fund spending has gone up by about 7-8% per year. Source: me going through the budgets the last 10 years. Austin's got a spending problem, with almost nothing to show for it.
The idea that council would even think about proposing a permanent property tax increase to cover a 30M budget shortfall (out of a 1.5 billion general fund budget) is crazy. But not really.
I expect it to pass easily.
Is this the worst offense at Texas you've ever seen? Maybe the 2014 squad masterminded by Shawn Watson? It's close.
It's inexcusable for a supposed offensive guru in his 5th year as coach.
I was meh on the Sark hire, but I became sold on the idea that he was top notch program builder. Yeah, about that. We seem to be a flip house with lots of foundational issues, particularly on offense.
This year seems like a write-off. The good news is lines and skill positions can be rebuilt via the portal much more quickly than the old days. I'm just not sure I trust this crew to do it.
For hitting nerds (my older boys are ballplayers), here is some slowmo video of Snead's homer from twitter. Very short, connected, great extension. Good mechanics.

My concern is how he allowed the program, particularly the offense, to get this bad. The QB, the O-line, the RBs, the WRs . . . no playmakers. No great portal adds. Really bad evals. Little or no development. And then there's the playcalling. This is almost 2010 Mack like.
I only saw the 2nd through the 6th. I saw Salmon in for 1, Wells in for 1, Gonzalez for 2, TK for 1.
I did not see Wells at 1st, but it's possible she went there for an inning (I had the fam with me, so not laser locked in). She had at least 1 AB as a pinch/DP. At 1st it was mainly Stewie, with Reese there for a couple of innings (lol). Crabtree got to pinch run and had 1 AB. None of the newbies did much at the plate other than Snead.
It's a good problem to have I guess. I wouldn't get too complacent if I were one of them. I still think he rolls with Maloney and Henry at RF and CF due to trust.
I guess 3rd and LF are two for sure "open" spots. Nichols and Lawson both played some 3rd tonight.
I missed her two run homer (got there at end of 1st), but the only position playing newcomer that really stood out to me tonight was Snead. Super athletic. She had an amazing catch in CF, then doubled off the runner at 1st who thought she wasn't gonna catch it. She might be hard to keep off the field.
I was a little surprised Altmeyer didn't come in until the bottom of the 6th and only got one AB. She has some pop.
Nah, you're either for tying grant funding to ideological/political litmus tests or you're not. Surl seems to be fine or outraged by this depending on team and context.
I think it's terrible policy either way.
I would say something similar for LG. She has a long swing with bat drag that hurts her against top end pitching, as I've posted on here before. She's very talented though and makes up for the poor technique with great hand eye coordination.
