  1. Bro, try disobeying the orders of a cop sometime and find out what happens. On the level of civil rights violations committed by police every fucking day in this country, this incident would not even be a blip on the radar were it not for the driver being a celeb.
  2. If you watch the longer video there's a part maybe halfway through where one of the cops tells the first cop who approached the car that the driver was a Miami Dolphin.
  3. That wasn't my point. I'm talking about the expectations of the cop. Keep your hands within view anytime you get pulled over. The driver repeatedly disobeyed orders.
  4. I dunno what to tell you. These are basic expectations/laws when you get pulled over. If the cop tells you to roll down your window, you have to comply. If the cop tells you to exit your vehicle, you must comply. Now legislatures, including in FL, are creating "Buffer Zones" where if they're responding to a situation, someone can be ordered to move out of the buffer zone. That was the problem with at least one of the teammates (the one behind the incident).
  5. He disobeyed orders repeatedly. The tinted windows likely didn't help. It may also just be their agency's procedure when they have an uncooperative driver. You're "expected" to keep your hands within view, and he was uncooperative right from the start when he didn't roll down his window even a crack after being pulled over.
  6. I'm not defending all of the cop's behavior, by any means. I'm merely talking about what happened in the first 1 minute of the incident.
  7. The police can order you to exit your vehicle for any reason they want. That includes Texas. For example, if they smell alcohol. If they suspect danger. For any number of reasons.
  8. They told him at least 3 times to exit, probably more like 5. It was a total of more than 10 seconds. (And that was after the time the cop spent telling him to roll down his window, which the guy refused.) Even when they opened his door and tried to pull him out it seemed like he was resisting getting out. I'm not sure.
  9. I'm firmly on Team Most Cops Are Bastards but his status as a NFL player is irrelevant. He was ordered to exit the vehicle and if a person disobeys that order, that's exactly what to expect to happen.
  10. He was legally required to obey the order to roll down his window, and he was legally required to exit the vehicle when ordered.
  11. I would guess because it's a high volume traffic situation on a road with high speeds and no apparent pull over lane, so there's more of them to mitigate the risk to LEO of a traffic accident resulting from the traffic stop.
  12. I think they pulled him over for speeding, then when the window was down, the cop observed the driver didn't have on his seat belt.
  13. front page right now of a leading purveyor of word games - ya hate to see it.
  14. My then gf, now wife, and I met him in the US Capitol (Statuary Hall) at a reception honoring Nelson Mandela. He was extremely gracious and kind to strangers expressing their admiration for him. He was exactly the kind of guy you'd expect him to be. Love this story from the WP's obit:
  15. Apparently Zuckerberg lives rent free
  16. The new book chronicling the purchase of Twitter may actually be worth reading. Vanity Fair has additional reading from this chapter: https://www.vanityfair.com/news/story/elon-musk-twitter-buyout
  17. Diaper Don saw the Penzeys video, promptly shit his pants and began smashing all the herbs and spices in his kitchen against the wall. Fortunately for the cleaning staff his kitchen is only stocked with salt and vanilla.
  18. This is a prof of public policy at the Hobby School in Houston. I noticed she doesn't take into consideration whether you have a roof or not.
  19. Finally, someone found a righteous purpose for chat AI. Congratulations, and alert Silicon Valley.
  20. The reporting of their own poll leaves many good questions. The crosstabs make no sense. Nate Cohn is an asshole.
  21. Kamala Harris walked into Pittsburgh's Penzeys Spices on Saturday
  22. Maybe because I'm in Colorado but I've seen only one political ad in the first half of the football game, and it was for KH.
  23. There's an ESPN bundled with Hulu LIVE. You've gotta look for that. Or go with one of the other options. YTTV has a 3 week free option in my area. Fubo and Sling are offering ~half price for the first month. Hulu Live only has a 3 day free option.
