He makes $1.6m at ND? That is insane. I could also see him snatching Elko from A&M to make an even bigger impact.

It’s not public because ND is private but I’ve heard $6 million per year.

On a positive note, as long as turtle tom is still the coach, I have a valid excuse for day drinking.

You can’t honestly say you’ve been drinking all day if you don’t start in the morning.

No, we haven’t. This one would be unlike any other hire we have made. Just to be clear- this is not my choice. But it’s a false equivalency to Strong or Herman. It’s a completely different kind of hire. Tons of upside with a kind of downside we are not accustomed to taking at Texas. Sark likely does not bomb out because he assembled a weak staff and lacks recruiting chops. Quite the opposite. He’s a rainmaker who would assemble a pretty awesome staff with recruiting skins.

But hide yo kids, hide yo wives because if he cannot stay on the wagon the fallout would be quite a thing to see.

Can you expand on why you are so confident he would hire a great staff?

Is it because he is coming in as an assistant unlike Strong and Herman?

Why the hell would Herman sign an NDA about getting fired?

He wouldn’t.   No way they’ve told Herman he is being fired.  He may know it is happening but that’s a lot different than being told it’s happening.

Besides, why would they risk letting him know?  He could try to screw things up like Brown did.

Clemson is just as good as Bama. Their lone loss came without their heisman QB and missing a lot of their front 7 in a thriller to ND.

It's Bama, Clemson and then a steep drop off to the rest. It will be Clemson/Bama pt 4 and I am fine with that if we are going to have a shitty 4 team playoff.

I agree.  I was referring to the fourth spot about nobody being worthy.  My post wasn’t well written.

"I think we recognized that all of my football players are at risk. All of them, really. Honestly, I don't know that any of our players would get into the school by themselves right now, with the academic standards the way they are. Maybe one or two of our players that are on scholarship.

So, making sure that with the rigors that we put them in -- playing on the road, playing night games, getting home at 4 o'clock in the morning, all of the demands that we place on them relative to the academics, and going into an incredibly competitive academic classroom every day -- we recognize this is a different group."

Those are Brian Kelly's words after Gholston got caught cheating.

    Reggie Bush qualified for ND.

Yes, there are going to be a handful of people every year that ND says "No" about... but it's not a lot different than getting into, and staying in, Texas.

What I'm saying is, Notre Dame isn't Stanford. Notre Dame can take whom they want to take. It's a minor issue in the grand scheme. When it comes to recruiting, Notre Dame has to worry more about being in South Bend, Indiana than qualifying players.

I’ve known two athletes that were recruited by ND.  One was accepted but declined and one played football there.  Both of them were stretches to get in.

It’s a myth or propaganda that they have high admittance standards.

Of the Plan B's mentioned, I'd prefer Campbell bc he knows the Big 12, is younger, and brings more BDE in my opinion.

None of the Plan B's mentioned thrill me but Fickell would be my choice.   He worked several years under Meyer and hopefully would have learned how to be successful at a major school.

Looks like AAC Commission is pushing for 8 team CFG saying the deck is stacked against Group of 5. Interesting. I am cool with 8 teams and bowl games for other schools. Colin Cowherd saying it will probably just help SEC really. I’m on lunch detail. Lol. What’s for lunch?

I'm for 8 teams.  Each Power 5 conference champ is in plus three wild cards ( actually two since Notre Dame will claim one each year regardless of their record).

That leaves the committee to only pick three teams and then the pairings.

Yes. If we fired Herman right now the speculation and distraction would be through the roof. As of now, we have chuds like FCB saying Herman will be back and ESPN running with it and scrolling it during football games. There’s a massive difference.

If Texas had an agreement with Urban, there would be no reason for CDC to post that press release.  He would just need to keep quiet.

i would hope we "researched" about a hundred dudes between potential coaches, assistants and coordinators.

Me too.  We need to do a real search and look at all possibilities.
