High risk (never been a HC, I think he's supposed to be kind of a odd personality)

High reward (fucking smart dude, coming in with a lot of momentum)

So both coordinators are coaches he has worked with in the past.  Interesting.

I wonder if it's going to be Joey McGuire from Baylor, given the recent smoke that they're going for an outside candidate.

I would like that but I don’t think he would have already accepted since he is still in the running for the Baylor job.

Maybe Baylor has already told him he isn’t getting it ?

We just fired a bunch of below average coaches that were plus recruiters.

Who besides Washington and Beck were considered plus recruiters?  I considered most of the others poor recruiters.

I think this would be great and he coached with Ash there before. Why would he come? No idea. Maybe Mattison is a grumpy asshole. Maybe we'll pay better?

Maybe they offer Assistant Head Coach to him to justify a higher salary but that seems like a stretch

Billy Napier - though Nahlin thinks that Joey McGuire has a chance to be the next HC.

Wasn’t Joey McGuire being considered for a job at Texas under Strong and something happened and he didn’t pass the background check?

A few different times I went back to look at Texas recruiting classes in arrears and was shocked at how many had massive failure rates, 50%+ in most years. There were only a few classes that hit on ~>60%+ rates. So it’s hard to know whether 2019 is closer to typical than unusual. I’m sure some dweeb on here will go back and run the numbers in every class from 2000 to 2019. That would be cool to see.

I’ll go back and look over Texas Football magazines that are 10-15 years old and it is amazing how many highly rated kids never produce for one reason or another.  It isn’t just Texas.
