I’ve known two athletes that were recruited by ND. One was accepted but declined and one played football there. Both of them were stretches to get in.
It’s a myth or propaganda that they have high admittance standards.
None of the Plan B's mentioned thrill me but Fickell would be my choice. He worked several years under Meyer and hopefully would have learned how to be successful at a major school.
I'm for 8 teams. Each Power 5 conference champ is in plus three wild cards ( actually two since Notre Dame will claim one each year regardless of their record).
That leaves the committee to only pick three teams and then the pairings.
I didn't mean anything personal by it. I too got wrapped up in the frenzy. There were undoubtbly some flights that were tracked that were relevant to the search.
And no there is nothing wrong with it but that doesn't diminish the fact that much of it was confirmation bias.
This whole thread should be studied by psychologists on how opinions/hopes are affected by confirmation bias. Flight tracking and believing random unnamed posts on the internet are a prime example.
The formation for receiving the onsides kick was worse.
I could see Herman using that lineup and then explaining after the game that the odds told him to do it that way.
I'm not saying Texas should hire Traylor but they should be open to hiring someone outside their comfort zone. There are a lot of good coaches out there and most don't currently fit conveniently into the box we want them to be in.
Belmont needs to ask itself why schools like Cincinnati get it right at a higher rate than Texas.
I'd have no problem hiring a top assistant. At least we would know they wouldn't bring their entire previous staffs like Herman and Strong did.
I met Suzy Kolber in a bar once. She was in Dallas for a game and was with OJ of all people plus a bunch of their crew.
Obviously this was a long time ago but she was very short but hot as hell.
