Thanks. I'm familiar with the basic process. The issue is that @SydneyCartonseems to be implying that the current school is restricted in some way from trying to talk the player out of transferring. I did a search before even asking the question and the only limitations I can find are on other schools' coaches contacting the player before his name is officially in the portal. There is virtually nothing about the current school.
I read throught them last night and I came away with the same observation.
It would seem odd to have a rule restricting contact with a player that is currently on scholarship at your school even if he has a desire to leave.

My guess is Bru had a meeting with Helton scheduled for today to inform him of his intentions to transfer. This is what the 995ers were waiting for as the official event to happen. Bru meets with Helton who gives him something to think about and says sleeping it and if want to leave tomorrow then you are free to. So Bru out of respect of his coach accepts the proposal and now we are all in a limbo until tomorrow. This is pure conjecture but I will dip my dong in South Austins mom's butt if it is true.

I wasn't 100% positive so I cheated and looked it up.

They are all listed as freshman.
Paul Moriarity was probably the highest rated OL Texas signed that year but flunked out and ended up at OU of all places.

They didn't all suck. Jeff Boyd had a good career and others were major contributors.
And remember, that class of beef also had a few DL included in it. Tommy Jeter and James Patton were part of that class.
Edit: damn I'm old and remember a lot of stupid shit.
