  1. I don't know which I enjoyed more, watching these horrible entitled morons throw a hissy fit about their luxury yacht dinner being an inedible disaster, or Sandy having to eat a giant bag of shit from said morons yelling at her. Y'all should quit crying about Sandy being a miserable cunt and just enjoy some pure uncut schadenfreude.
  2. Both these teams are shit at finishing. But more concerning is our inability to get the ball past midfield without turning it over for most of this game.
  3. How was that not a goal, Jesus fuck.
  4. Pretty rough watching this team try and protect a lead. 1-1.
  5. To be fair, Greek-Albanian Hunting Compilation discs are extremely accurate flyers. I've never even used a DBA or anything for previous bands, we just didn't give a shit and used any CD sales on psychadelic drugs and guitar pedals. Does that kind of thing require maintenance fees or is it a one-time setup cost?
  6. Ok, when you have time, I would like to know more. I have a good stack of unreleased material, some was basically completed a decade ago before I lost steam with music completely, a CD worth of new songs and a LOT of ideas for churning out marketable soundscapes and compositions. What was the process for forming it, time and money-wise?
  7. The Townsend sounds fantastic to my ears. The Slate sounded fine but I would still love to have one. Problem is neither would stop me from wanting to get another mic.
  8. I was on the lookout a while back for a Lawson LA47 or something after reading about them, but quickly realized they were very hard to find used and the value had gone up quite a bit, well out of my reach. I won't claim they are as good as the originals, but the companies making clones under 1k these days like Warm Audio and Advanced Audio are doing pretty good work to approximate these vintage mic's by sourcing components from all over and using some pretty high quality capsules. Some are definitely better than others. Rocknroll rentals carries all the Warm Audio mic's, so I have tried a couple out. The WA-47 sounds huge on vocals, their 251 is not quite as good though. I haven't checked out the 87-style mic yet, but I've heard it comes close to the original.
  9. Do we need a microphone pron thread? Those look badass, Paul. UM57 is not even on my radar. I'm moderately obsessed with microphones at the moment, as I have been trying to decide what 2-3 mic's would be most useful for my home studio. I really want a tube mic just for vocals, but have settled on a 251-style FET and 67-style FET from a company in China called 3U Audio. I may get a tube mic later, but I can always rent one when needed.
  10. And CT, Wes and Bananas were all at one point just as hateable as Fessy. Somehow Kenny and Evan were made to be likeable by editing but they were also toxic scumbags and possibly worse than the others. Fessy's arrogance pales in comparison to all these shitheads when they were in their early 20s.
  11. Coral was great television. I didn't like her 20 years ago, but on rewatch she was one of the better personalities the show has had.
  12. I torrented some of the older seasons a while back, I didn't realize the app starts at Gaunlet 2. They are very shitty quality though, so if you don't mind that I can put them on a dropbox or something.
  13. As terrible as Robin and Johanna were, they probably would be an upgrade. The rest for sure. Julie and Veronica would have made good tv. Tina or Coral would have been great. I'm pretty sure Sarah is done for good or she would have come back to one of the regular seasons, but I'd like to see her again. The full challenge rewatch is highly rewarding. We started as far back as we could go, but the Gauntlet 1 is probably where I would mark the beginning of the good seasons.
  14. There are a lot of weak competitors that have no business in an all star cast, but I wouldn't mind them doing this every other year to check in on old cast members and observe how despite their age, they still act like giant, irrational children when dropped into this environment. Just don't bring back the same cast members each time like Aneesa ffs, make it a smaller cast and try to get fresh contestants each time.
  15. Cool, I'll start thinking about this route. Any req's on luthiers in Austin?
  16. I've never changed a pickup, I don't know how these compare to others. I remember thinking I like these better than the single-coil style when I first got it, but it has been so long and I've seen you guys with pickups I've never seen or heard before so I don't know. I'd like to try replacing them but with what? OR This is more along the lines of what I expected. It is my 40th birthday soon, maybe I just need to go play some new tele's.
  17. What should I mod or upgrade on my telecaster? I have been reading this thread and realized that I don't think I've really changed anything about my tele since I bought it like 17 years ago. I was starting a band and got a used thinline at Heart of Texas. I didn't have much money and never got into tinkering with upgrades or anything. Now I have some time to do stuff like that, but don't know jackshit about modding these things. I play acoustic most of the time as I have been working on a more folk-centric recording project for a while, and I use the tele mostly to add interesting textures and soft lead lines with the occasional twangy western lead line. I also work on ambient and drone music from time to time, but the tone is just fine for that. I will say that there is a fair amount of noise when it isn't grounded by touching the strings, so I suspect something in the electronics should be rewired or shielded in some way. I've never even taken the pickguard off to look at the wiring. Around the tone knob, there is a crack that I believe was there when I got it but it has grown over time. I did buy a new pickguard a couple of years ago, but they sent the wrong one. After refunding me, I just forgot about it and never re-ordered it because I got busy or lazy or something. Here is a track that shows some of what I do with it right now, just some chillaxed noodling with the neck pickup to give it a low-fi tapey sound that blends into a spacey folk vibe. Obligatory fam portrait:
  18. Cocaine and Rhinestones season 2 just started after like 3 years off. First episode is about pinball machines' effect on country music.
  19. Was this in Austin? Washer front panel just went out after 10 yrs, 500 at least to fix. The tech was on the cynical side to say the least, and said basically any brand these days will have issues within 3 years by design to keep us buying new appliances.
  20. Not a neg, but there is a mouth click at 0:32 that is a pet peeve of mine, particularly for a quiet part in a song. May not bother you at all, but that's the kind of thing I can't "unhear" in a song.
  21. "Near to the Sweets" with Mike Roach. Are we still doing this bit?
  22. Just discovered this new web-based pedal demo system made by some European music shop. Somehow, they figured out how to solder 150 pedals into a rack system that connects up to their server and allows each one to be demo'ed on their site. Also, you can upload your own riff to try them out. I'm pretty blown away by how they pulled it off. https://www.thomann.de/gb/stompenberg_devices.html
  23. That's excellent since I skipped the WiiU entirely. I believe the reviews were pretty mixed on Skyward Sword though if I'm not mistaken.
  24. The chord looks somewhat diminished as well.
  25. I'm trying to find all of the older seasons and watch them with the wife as we are running out of things to watch. I couldn't find them on any streaming platform other than the 2 seasons on netflix, so I downloaded 10 or so seasons through bittorrent. Season 5 was the oldest I could find and was pretty lame except for the Miz going on a drunken rampage that probably would have gotten him booted these days since he was being verbally aggressive towards a couple of the girls. Season 6 was better in terms of the challenges but it was a Boys vs Girls thing and by the end the girls were just unable to compete with the boys in most of the events. That season did have Puck though who managed to get married AND spit 20 feet onto the face of David from old school RW. We're on Season 7 now which is the first Gauntlet. This is the first time they actually had an 1on1 elimination challenge to see who goes home. In the previous ones, the team just votes on whoever they want to get kicked off their own team, survivor style. It was really annoying because they were using a cumulative point system for the inner circle who decides the vote, and it ended up being the same 3-4 people every single time.
