Ok, so I stayed up for Ep 2 and I gotta say, that was pretty cool. They are setting the stage for what is to come but the storytelling is so good that the slow pace doesn't feel the same as some of the filler episodes from Mando.
I'm really diggin' the vibe.

Mulkey got told "You'd better take that LSU job, cause we're not putting up with your shit, anymore." It all came down to the new basketball arena. Mulkey wanted it on campus, in between the Ferrell Center and the baseball and softball stadiums. Baylor was in negotiations with City of Waco and some private developers to put it on the bank of the Brazos, on the downtown side of I-35. The arena project will cost $185 million. Waco's chipping in $65 million, and it's going to anchor a $700 million downtown river development.
They told Mulkey several times to STFU, they were going to put a statue of her up in front of the new arena, and make everything look smooth on the outside. She wouldn't shut up. Completing the negotiations required meet and greets with a lot of people with serious money, and Baylor was tired of Mulkey showing her ass at every possible moment, and they weren't going to let her go into negotiation meetings screaming about having the arena in an area that was too small and was going to remove about 50% of the parking from the three other facilities there.
She'd been a pain in the ass for years, and you can usually get away with being an ass when you're winning, BUT when the money boys tell you to sit down and STFU, you either do it or go someplace else.
Both sides have been quiet about it, but it wasn't Mulkey's choice.
The only coach who's voluntarily left Baylor since I started covering them in around 2006* is Matt Rhule, and he was writing his number on NFL bathroom stalls before he got the Baylor job.
*Disclaimer: I don't cover anything except football, basketball and women's basketball, and I cover as little women's basketball as I have to.
She was a coach that brought national title banners to Waco.If this is true, and I have zero reason to believe otherwise, then I quote this to offer some perspective on what happened between Leach and Tech.
I’ve said multiple times over the years that their relationship soured long before Adam James ever went into that closet.
Hindsight being 20/20 and all that and the Tech fb decade of futility hasn’t changed my opinion that Mike wanted to leave and Tech wanted him to go - the only variable was how much was it gonna cost both parties.
The above statement in no way denies what Mike brought to the program via wins and media attention and an overall elevation of it’s status.

It is ugly to be sure.

What the heck is Dallas wearing?
-
Chiefs had won 8 straight - maybe a loss there wasn’t so bad - if you believe in that sort of thing
Time to start a new winning streak.
-
8 plays from the 1 yd line and 2 minutes off the clock - question is, what was KC doing?
-
Why does KC not want any time left when they get the ball back?
-
Chiefs D is still Texas Tech level bad
-
Refs taking over the game right now for Cincy

there was more contact on the uncalled OPI than on the called DPI in Chiefs/Bengals game

That Chase guy seems pretty good
I’d argue that most of us could have scored on that last one - Chief’s D wasn’t even in the same area code

That false start penalty just lost oSu the game... there was gonna be a huge hole up the middle on that play.
ND wins this by 1

Ok, does anyone need any more proof that UGA tanked the secsecsec CCG on purpose?
-
That's 2 dropped TDs

I wonder how different this game would be without Robinson and Williams.
Bryce is just the bus driver. Those other two are the difference.
well, them and the Bama DL

Cincy might be outmatched in this game but you know what, according to the score, so was Georgia when they played Bama. The Bearcats still deserve to be here. Their 13-0 season earned them that right.
The no-rematch bullshit is just that, bullshit.
UGA should be the 4 seed as the non- conference champion participant.
My opinion on this won't change regardless of the final outcome of this game.

Cincy playing it safe all half.
Didn't run QB on O out of fear of getting him hurt I guess. Result? A bunch of 3 n outs.
Didn't commit to stopping the run for fear of being be by th pass. Result? Bama O stayed on field for most of half.
Just like the prevent D prevents a win, playing it safe does as well.

Cincy desperately needs points on this drive.
That was true on the last drive.
I fear it's too late now.

So 90 yd pass here?

And there's your SECSECSEC dpi

We are all (well all of us without an ‘A’ on our hats) tired of the same teams winning it every year.
The current configuration has become a self fulfilling prophecy - the same teams win because they have all the talent and they have all the talent because they win.
There’s a theory, that over time( a couple seasons) that an expanded playoff would spread the talent around as the doorway to the post season is widened. Again, Bama and tOSU and the like are still gonna get theirs but if the “beauty contest” component is lessened and more guaranteed spots are available and more access is gained then yes, I could see how the talent will eventually begin to spread around.
Of course, then there’s also the NIL and the portal so who knows what it’s gonna look like long term.
