  1. The problem is and always has been the polls - the rankings to the left of each team should not yet exist - but they make great talking points and fodder for television ratings This should be the order of SEC teams chosen for the CFP and there should be a limit on number of teams chosen. The SEC already had a playoff and this is the result The CFP is not and should not be the SEC invitational tournament The CFP committee’s lone job should be ranking/seeding said teams relative to the other conferences
  2. Yeah after a little research I dont think I’m right about it either but the question still remains, how is it calculated
  3. Is it not just the cumulative w/l record of the teams a particular school has played?
  4. I mentioned Texas in my last post, but again, I’m not arguing against Texas, It’s the biases that I don’t like - with ND being the biggest of them all. Somebody above moved the needle to games against top10 teams - don’t just pick on BYU, show the numbers for everyone. Texas Tech fails on that scale. As does tOSU etc etc
  5. Texas hasn’t looked good for much of the year either - even in wins. Choose your words wisely.
  6. I’m not gonna argue against the case you make for Texas being in. It’s the anti-Big12 bias that erks me. You could make the exact same statement above while including Oregon, Miami, Notre Dame - heck, even aggy (BYU only has 1 loss) but you don’t - you only focus in Big12
  7. No, it proves that BYU is being judged differently than other teams (ND)
  8. “Better” - as in some dude’s or group of dude’s opinion? you remember the pre-season polls, right? I’d love the chance to see some Big12 teams go to the mat vs some SEC teams in the playoffs when it counts I have no problem admitting the SEC is by far the strongest and deepest conference. Or that the BIG is 2nd. And yeah, 2nd in spite of back-ro-back titles. The BIG and SEC both have guaranteed spots for all 4 of their CCG participants. The other leagues don’t have that privilege. So, we are left comparing the conference runner-ups from the non-BIGSEC with the remaining at-large teams and it is here where things aren’t so cut and dry. Utah and Oregon are not that far removed from being conference mates with Utah taking the most recent conference title. Since their parting of ways, we are being told to believe that Utah now sucks at football and Oregon is elite despite zero on the field results to support said claim. The win over SC was Oregon’s 1st of the season.
  9. I’m not saying that. The top is of that conference is. No one - NO ONE - is claiming the Big12 deserves equal representation. But 5 bids to 1 bid is borderline excessive I’m pointing out the moving target and how one’s rooting interests color the view of said target
  10. And how many of those teams has aggy played?
  11. Do you think Florida would beat you? That’s the joke and problem with all of this - too much em-pha-sis on what people think.
  12. What has Oregon done that BYU and Utah have not?
  13. BYU and Utah aren’t in either. Neither are top 10
  14. But why are they where they are now? We’ve debated the whole poll (except the top 3) ND/Miami, Bama/OU, Texas at 9-3, the soft ACC but not Oregon. Why are the Ducks getting a free pass? I think the committee should have to justify all 12 spots every week.
  15. 1st time listener, long time caller. Everyone rags on Texas Tech’s schedule - the OOC is weak for sure However, they do have 3 CFP team wins and the lone loss is to a team that is ranked as well Sitting at #5, Tech is getting love and barring a catastrophic meltdown in WV they are safely in so let’s move on to the bubble teams. And more specifically, Oregon Can someone explain Oregon’s ranking? Why are they not a bubble team? A case could be made that OU, ND, Bama, Utah, BYU, and Miami all have a better resume No, you say, all those other teams have 2 losses (except BYU) Ok, you see where I’m going with this, BYU has the win over #12 Utah and a loss to #5 Tech Make the case for Oregon. They have the loss to #2 Indy and what else???
  16. Just curious, but doesn’t a higher ranked Aggy team help Texas? Y’all are hanging your hats on getting a bump from beating them, no?
  17. Gameday @ Pitt Gonna do some transitive property cross-thread pollinating regarding Texas Tech’s OOC schedule. Kent St and Arky Pine Bluff are indeed two magnificent cupcakes. Oregon St is having a down year but considering when schedules are made that’s not exactly a trip to the bakery. Today, Tech will be playing its 8th Big12 conference game - not gonna argue 8 games in Big12 vs 8 games in the SEC but SEC does only play 8 games. Tech’s last game of the season will be a trip to Morgantown in 2 weeks to face WV Now let’s bring this back to today and gameday @ Pitt. The Panthers are still in the mix and are fighting for a possible ACC title. The same Pitt Panthers that lost to West Virginia - the last team on Texas Tech’s schedule. I’m not saying this to prop Tech up as having run a gauntlet - they haven’t. But I am saying it’s a decent enough schedule to shield them from the “they’ve played no one” jeers. That ALL nine of their wins have been by 20 points is what really stands out most to me.
  18. When BYU couldn’t do anything today but trip over there own dicks it was because they suck at football When LSU does the same thing it’s because Alabama is well, Alabama
  19. So based on this metric then, the Big12 should be the league with 3 bids and the BIG only 1 But I’m sure that’s not what you are saying
  20. You know, I’d almost rather see 5 SEC bids than the annual coronation of the Irish
  21. Just flip ‘em. If Tech had played Texas’ schedule and vise versa what would the two teams records be? I think Tech could’ve equaled what Texas has done and I think Texas could’ve gone 9-0 with Tech’s (Tech should have done so too) but for arguments sake let’s say an injury led to Texas dropping the ASU game Having said that, NO ONE would be politicking that a 9-3 Tech would deserve a bid And NO ONE would be saying an 11-1 Texas team wasn’t a lock win or lose the CCG And that’s the rub. We can argue strength this and schedule that but at the end of the day the helmet logos still matter - a lot And I think 4 bids vs 2 bids makes that statement and acknowledges that tradition. But 5 bids to 1 bid just seems like overkill. It’s not like there’s zero recent history of the BIG12 doing damage in the playoffs with their 1 bid - hello Michigan
  22. Yeah, I’m not talking about teams with 2 reg season losses prior to the CCG I’m talking about the CCG loss being the 2nd loss BYU and Tech are the only two that can finish 11-1 If Tech loses on Sat, they’re done. It’ll be their 2nd conf loss and in a multiple 2 loss team tie-breaker scenarios, they come up short
  23. BYU is currently undefeated They and Tech could both finish 11-1 This thread is claiming the loser of their rematch is not worthy of the CFP
