  1. Yes, a great tournament. FTs were a huge part of why we won it, and full credit to our ladies for making them. But playing such relentless D with a short bench always makes me worry about FTs, as fatigue makes every late-game shot harder. Here's hoping that's less of a concern going forward.
  2. I hope we start making FTs at a higher clip, but health is our biggest concern as the year progresses. Let's hope Crump is OK and that Preston can be back to 100% soon. Getting Judd cleared for at least spot duty before SEC play also would help relieve some of the demand on starters now playing monster minutes. Carlton was tremendous against a huge front line yesterday, and Sidberry had some good plays. It's going to take all of them, especially when the inevitable dings to starters occur.
  3. Definitely seems like a down year in that league. Duke might win it, but at the moment they're staring 3-5 in the face and not scaring many folks. Watching them play, I'm not even sure what I'd say their strength is.
  4. Duke is genuinely not good.
  5. Didn't phrase my point very well. As Booker dove to get a loose ball, Betts reached in and her arm got pinned. The "takedown" was purely an accident due to Betts' own action.
  6. Probably a little sore after Booker took her down. I was surprised Betts and Carlton both shook off those wrong-way extremity bends to return to play almost immediately.
  7. When you beat that team without taking three of your starters off the floor all night, you've really done something. Hugs props to the whole bunch. Bodes well for the rest of the season if we can get healthy and stay healthy.
  8. MONSTER game by Carlton. We'd have lost by 10 without her.
  9. Yet another reason to win
  10. No foul or lob, por favor.
  11. Wasted chances
  12. Flesh wound. You have to love the fight we're showing. Booker getting stronger and everyone is energized. Keep pushing.
  13. We have to play flawless ball to beat them. Both teams are a little shorthanded, but the difference is in both length and execution. They're pressuring our jump shooters, so we can't botch the close ones. They did in the first half, but you knew that wouldn't continue.
  14. They'll score 40 in the paint this half if we don't figure things out pronto.
  15. Just a rough quarter. Fortunate to be ahead, but we know that won't hold up without more scoring from several ladies. Carlton's great hustle and Oldacre's D have us in the lead.
  16. Getting worked on the boards is annoying. But loving Carlton's effort so far.
  17. Let's keep our bigs out of foul trouble and get a strong second half from Booker.
  18. "Jaggerson" has solid Anglo roots.
  19. Traore I think is just adjusting to playing again, but Mark has no excuse. Appears he lacks confidence...but well he should, given how he's played so far. Still wish Swain had been given the ball at the end against ASU.
  20. This is a common issue with teams that haven't played together much, especially when there's no clear No. 1 PG to reliably get into the paint and distribute the ball. You're going to rely on a few guys getting hot enough long enough to score 80-plus points and then hope you can scramble to a W. We should improve on D and the boards as guys settle into their roles. Of course, in SEC play the overall level of competition also will ramp up, which might hide any improvement we make this season. I'm just glad there's enough overall ability on the roster to build on. Despite the collapse against ASU, it's been a better beginning than I expected.
  21. I now can confirm that staying up until 11:47 pm ET to watch us win is far better than 2:07 am to lose.
  22. I'll admit I didn't have Weaver or Harmon carrying the late scoring load on today's Longhorn bingo card.
