  1. My wife's into it so I've been watching, but I think this show is pretty boring. I'll stick through to the end of this season, but something interesting needs to happen or I'm out.
  2. Centenario is a damn fine tequila at a damn fine price point.
  3. I’m pretty sure I’d much rather hang out with Guy Fieri than any of the pretentious squares on this thread bashing Guy Fieri. We’d be pounding Jager bombs and slayin late-40s lake poon while crushing chili dogs all day long. Giddyup motherfuckers. We’re partyin’!
  4. This is a very solid itinerary. On Monday, if you have time, consider taking a water taxi to chinatown for some dim sum. I once saw an old Chinese man chop the head off a soft shelled turtle to make soup. They've also got a bunch of souvenir shops with weird cheap shit your kids might like. For dinner after Cubs game, consider Spacca Napoli. It's less than two miles from Wrigley field. It's my favorite Neapolitan/wood fired pizza. We get into Chicago with the family July 4th. We're driving up from Austin and staying for three weeks to visit friends and family. Have fun man!
  5. That's because you're part of the after-church crowd and they don't want to tell you that you and your ilk are the worst. It's not a Texas thing. But it's probably worse in Texas.
  6. Most of them are shitty starting NFL QBs. Yes. None of those guys on your list are going to win you a championship, except potentially Hurts. Maybe Bryce Young too, but we've never seen him play a down of NFL football. Yes there is a trend of NFL execs willing to take a chance on QBs who are under 6'2". But the recent data isn't supporting that to be a good decision. Shorter QBs can be amazing in college. We haven't had a lot of shorter QBs be successful in the NFL. Brees, Russell Wilson and Steve Young are the only three guys 6' and under who have won a Super Bowl since at least 1980. While this may be a trend, it's not one that has shown a strong correlation to NFL success. The Browns and the Cardinals are absolutely fucked because they wasted #1 overall picks on Mayfield and Murray. Maybe they suck because they went to OU? But their height ain't helping them. That being said I'm bullish on KJ Lacey and think he could be a damn fine college QB for us even if he doesn't grow any taller (although I think he will).
  7. But most of those guys suck. The only quality QBs in your list are Jalen Hurts, who may be shorter than average but is built like a linebacker, Russel Wilson who used to be great but sucks now, and Lamar Jackson who used to be great but may or may not suck now. I also don't think 6'2" is too short to be effective. Also, Bryce Young is 5'10"
  8. Went last night with the wife, 9yo girl and 7yo boy. It was fucking awesome. But I had no idea this was a part 1/part 2 thing. At the two hour mark I was REALLY confused wondering how they were going to wrap everything up. But the animation is fucking AMAZING. I had very high expectations after the first one, and it met or exceeded them. Go see this movie in a theater. You will not regret it.
  9. Radical Sandwich Anarchy is a good name for a pop punk cover band
  10. @Pimphand inspired me to get a couple of central market tomahawk chops last night. Grilled them up with a Dijon/honey/bourbon/garlic/lemon juice glaze. Also grilled some Zucchini from the garden and some corn
  11. I mean, you could include a crab cake grilled cheese sandwich in a bracket if you want, but I'd guess that a large percentage of people have never had one (myself included) and it would stand no chance of advancing out of the first round. A smaller bracket with universally-acknowledged contenders seems better than a larger bracket with a bunch of 16-seed regional obscurities. But that's just like, my opinion, man.....
  12. I just want to give a preemptive “fuck you” to any other show writers or filmmakers that use “Father and Son” during a pivotal and emotional parental reconciliation scene. The first four notes came on and my wife loudly said “goddamnit!!!!” while I had already started tearing up like a little bitch. Fucking dickheads.
  13. Because obviously we are an upstanding squeaky-clean operation of great character and every other institution is run by wretched crooks and are all on the verge of being indicted by the FBI. We are good and everyone else is bad.
  14. I've done ribs on a kettle a number of times. I will take a poultry roasting rack and flip it and set the ribs up on their side. That creates more space and distance from the other side of the grill so I can run a minion of lump and wood chunks. It works pretty well when all you've got is a kettle.
  15. I had this exact conversation on facebook a few years ago and it started a great debate. My only rule was you can't include specific versions of a sandwich you really like at one place. The merit of your vote would be judged by the conventional ingredients/construction of the sandwich. So you wouldn't say "the italian at Home Slice" but "the italian sandwich". I ultimately landed on 1) BLT 2) Reuben 3) Italian 4) patty melt (because a cheeseburger isn't a sandwich but a patty melt is and I can't tell you why that contradiction exists, but it's a fact) The simplicity of the BLT wins every time. And Reubens are just typically fucking awesome. Now, I might like an Italian Beef sandwich from any number of places in Chicago more than a BLT from Jersey Mike's. But Italian Beefs are regional and not typically executed correctly at most places outside of Chicago. And the Chilanga torta at Mi Tradicion might be better than a Reuben from Bella Donna subs. But still, the Reuben is a superior sandwich than a torta. Edit: If it were more widely-available, I think the jambon-beurre would make my top 5.
  16. The neediness and insecurity is proof god is female. (JK ladies. I know that most men are profoundly more needy and insecure than women) That sounds VERY cult-y.
  17. I liked Mare of Easttown. It was entertaining. It didn't do anything groundbreaking. I think it was on par with something like The Night Of. But it's a clear tier below the shows I cite. It's also not as good as some of the shows that didn't make my cut. Perry Mason is better, as is 'I Will Destroy You', which I thought was excellent but didn't quite do enough to land in the top tier. I also agree that the first three seasons of GOT were as strong as any stretch of Succession. But things fell off toward the end of the series and that's why it doesn't hold up.
  18. I've watched the show four times. Watching season 2 for the first time with that fucking halfwit Ziggy and his stupid fucking duck was an absolute slog. But after multiple viewings I understand why the story of season 2 needed to be told and have come to appreciate it and even enjoy it. Certainly more than season 5 and the homeless murder shenanigans. But having an appreciation for a flawed season (when compared to the rest of the series) does not mean you elevate it above 3, 4 or 1.
  19. you must be using the jt rankings, because no one that has actually seen the show would rank season 2 as the best season. unless you're talking about the season in which the best titties are revealed.... for the record its 34125
  20. I saw OFF! at a small club in Chicago. My buddies used to skate with their old drummer Mario Rubalcaba. It was really fun show and it was kinda surreal watching Keith Morris wander around a club considering his legendary status as lead singer in both Circle Jerks and Black Flag. I'm not super into free jazz punk so I'll probably be avoiding them in the future. Bought tickets to the Liz Phair show at the Moody in December. She's doing all of Exile in Guyville and playing the hits off Whip Smart and Whitechocolatespaceegg, I would assume
  21. Not sure about his experience coaching LDS players, but attending college and playing football at BYU would probably impart some wisdom and experience in cultivating relationships with Mormons.
