  1. Do they truly have nearly 4 million available for conscription though? We can't trust the Russian government (I'm not going to go all Peter Zeihan, but it's true, the Russians cover this shit up) with Russian demographics. Many of those nearly million or so and their families (or maybe more) that fled conscription are probably still abroad. They are going to need a chunk of those men to keep things going at home in terms of the economy and supplying the military and keeping the trains going. Russia is relying on North Korea to help with Kursk - you'd think they'd show some pride and project some power within their own borders and kick the Ukrainians out. Could you imagine if the US invaded Mexico in 2022, and Mexico pushed nearly to San Antonio in 2024, and we are relying on I don't know, Nigerians or Brazilians or Filipinos to try and kick the Mexicans out? Of course, I've heard theories that they don't want to deploy too many Russians in Kursk because they don't want to see high numbers of Russians surrendering inside of Russia.
  2. Elon Musk can't wait to import more Russian aluminum and other resources he needs to make Teslas cheaper.
  3. Hold on, be right back, heading to Tennessee to console Dolly
  4. Something is happening if we are seeing the Russians struggling to do things that they were doing even just a few months ago. I’ve been out of the OSINT loop for the past few months, but I’ve seen the discussions about Russian advances bogging done and slowing to a crawl, or even being reversed, and their inability to kick Ukraine out of Kursk (even after bringing in thousands of North Korean troops). This stuff is not wishful thinking. We are seeing it reflected in the maps, we are seeing it reflected in Russians using fucking donkeys to move equipment and golf carts to move men around. I’ve been banging the “Russia may have culminated” drum, but I’m seeing the evidence everyday.
  5. I hate people who don’t know how to use the return or enter key.
  6. No we won’t. If you watch Perun’s latest video, he mentions a huge vulnerability with buying from America, one that a lot of us tend to forget - if you buy from an American company, the American government has the right to restrict who you can share it with, sell or give it to. And if you make a weapons system such as a fighter in Sweden and it has an American component such as a jet engine, the American government can also restrict the sale, sharing, or giving of said fighter. It affects a helluva lot of European weapons, and we are in a position to deny things like cruise missiles made in England or France to Ukraine, or jets made in Sweden or self-propelled artillery systems that use an American computer. Whether we follow through and deny a host of weapons provided by other countries to Ukraine is for the CR thread, but what was an advantage - using the latest American technology or benefiting from our economy of scale, is now a vulnerability that has to be dealt with. If you are a European defense contractor, you are going to pivot from American suppliers to South Korean, Taiwanese, Japanese, etc. suppliers. And in the US, it’s for the Elon Musk thread, but DOGE is turning its sights towards the DOD, and every dollar that goes to Lockheed or Boeing or whoever is a dollar that doesn’t go to an Elon Musk company, and Musk and Co. are wanting to shrink the US military for a reason. Those two problems are going to hammer our defense industries
  7. I just wish Qanon would come back and go after these people with the conspiracy theories like they did 5-6 years ago. Instead, a lot of former Qanon types are embracing these people.
  8. I've recently mentioned certain events to relatives and they do the "you're listening to the media" bit, and then I mention, "no, it's not political or commentary - the person I'm talking about actually said it in public or tweeted it, here let me send you their own words" and they get real fucking uncomfortable and try to claim I'm misreading or mishearing or interpreting what they said, and I say "here, listen to it for yourself." And it is a whole shitload of people - this thread is an outlier - most people in the US do not realize that Ukraine is really hurting Russia, or even has Russian territory in Kursk, all they know is Russian forces are in Ukraine. I am glad to see Europe starting to diverge from us, as much as I hate where it points us historically in terms of waning influence.
  9. We are going to start losing a lot more business now that European defense companies are getting the door thrown wide open for them.
  10. Could be worse, could take you an hour to make it through this
  11. Thanks for the video, I'm sure I'm not the only one who has probably written a few thousand pages of fanfic centered around being some unknown yet hotshot smuggler working for the alliance who finds himself in the enviable position of getting Mon Mothma the fuck out of Dodge when shit hits the fan and then spending 6 months or more on the run with just her and a cranky half-working droid that is't fit to lick R2-D2's wheels, only to find out it's not even a fucking droid - it's just some British dwarf who was in a costume, but that's what airlocks are for. Anyways, I'm looking forward to adding on to my Mon Mothma canon with this next season of Andor.
  12. Damn, look at Mr. Moneybags here. Most of us can't afford to excavate a basement because of all the fucking Central Texas rock, and instead we are stuck with a sex crawlspace.
  13. I've been wondering if we are nearing the backside of Russia's culminating point. Wikipedia, for once, has a concise entry on it: The culminating point in military strategy is the point at which a military force is no longer able to perform its operations. On the offensive, the culminating point marks the time when the attacking force can no longer continue its advance, because of supply problems, the opposing force, or the need for rest. The task of the attacker is to complete its objectives before the culminating point is reached. The task of the defender on the other hand, is to bring the attacking force to its culminating point before its objectives are completed. The concept of a culminating point (Kulminationspunkt) was formulated by the Prussian general and military theorist Carl von Clausewitz in his book On War published in 1832
  14. I can guarantee you that none of these fuckers, Zuckerberg, Musk, Trump, etc. have ever let their daughters paint their fingernails and then went out in public with them or had a tea party with them and patiently listened to their stuffed animals have a conversation..
  15. You're in good company - Leon stays away from his own rockets as well.
  16. While my ESC will handle it, I'm not doing brushless - I don't have the room to handle it, I'd be worried my kids would launch it into something, and I don't want to deal with the lipo batteries. Speaking of Tamiya, they just announced their new buggy chassis that replaces or compliments its DT-02 and DT-03 line, the *drumroll* DT-04. Uses the DT-02/03 gearbox, various parts of the suspension. I'm intrigued.
  17. Yeah, about tariffs and the next six weeks: Me thinks that those tariffs will not last long, and talking about trying to hurt Europe for supporting Ukraine, well Europe is our biggest trading partner. We need their markets. We rely on imports from Canada and Mexico, and we also export a lot to both. It is a fucked up situation we find ourselves in economically, no doubt, but we can’t hammer Europe like that, and I suspect we won’t last long just with Canada and Mexico. And we run the real risk of billions of Euros and pounds being diverted from American defense companies to European companies. I said earlier that nature abhors a vacuum, and I think we and Europe are going our own ways and they will fill that vacuum, at least over Ukraine. Maybe even what Immamac said about about Europe not giving a fuck what we do - we need their markets arguably more than they need ours (especially if we fuck round with Mexico and Canada). And if you’re a European, why wouldn’t you decide now is a good time to go your own way? You don’t get many chances to usurp the sole superpower on the global stage, while helping to ensure that the number two military in Russia is wrecked.
  18. A cousin and her husband are based out of D.C. and work for the same company (well she is on maternity leave). Her hubby was a big fan of Musk and of a certain political persuasion, and they were happy last November. Last year, according to their stupid fucking yearly newsletter they send out to family members at the end of December, he got a promotion, they had a baby, their oldest was identified as gifted and talented and they bought a fairly fancy house back in August. She bragged about how it could be their forever home and had posted several photos in the newsletter. Just barely two months ago. A few hours ago, she posted on FB asking if anybody in the Dallas area had any leads for “well-paying” tech writing jobs (her job) or “network consultants” (his job) and that she was homesick and had convinced hubby to consider a move to Dallas. Now it’s possible that with the birth of her youngest, she is homesick (they’ve been out there since the mid-2000s). But they also both work for Booz Allen Hamilton.
  19. He always thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room, so it’s possible he thinks he will destroy Stewart, and his followers will tell him that he will.
  20. They don’t have the luxury of a choice. Plus, we created a power vacuum yesterday. Nature abhors a vacuum, so somebody will step in and fill it. Maybe/probably France and the UK. Poland may toss their hat in the ring. And from here on out, they may want to drive everything through the EU rather than NATO rather than risk plans being leaked to Russia. They have a very large military industrial complex. They’ve been slowly ramping up, but it’s been happening, and the South Korean stuff in Poland should take off this year.
  21. They went out of their way to be lore accurate.
  22. NSFW as all get out. It was his audition for Bond.
  23. I think it’s a matter of when, not if, another European country or two joins the nuclear club. If I’m Poland, I’m building some nukes.
