  1. This afternoon could well determine that.
  2. If those types get sick going forward, we need to ask if they were drinking raw water. https://www.cdc.gov/bird-flu/situation-summary/mammals.html The wide geographic spread of HPAI A(H5N1) viruses in wild birds, poultry, and some other mammals, including in cows, could create additional opportunities for people to be exposed to these viruses. Therefore, there could be an increase in sporadic human infections resulting from bird and animal exposures, even if the risk of these viruses spreading from birds to people has not increased. CDC believes the current risk to the general public from bird flu viruses is low. People who have job-related or recreational exposure to infected birds or animals, including cows, are at greater risk of contracting HPAI A(H5N1) virus. CDC has recommendations related to testing, treatment of HPAI A(H5N1) infection and prevention of exposure to these viruses: Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza A(H5N1) Virus in Animals: Interim Recommendations for Prevention, Monitoring, and Public Health Investigations. 3. If he bought a truck at Mac Haik, definitely.
  4. At least things aren’t too dry.
  5. So we can just kind of skip 2020-2024. Happy New Year. I just gotta say there’s a fuckload of people in Austin lighting up some big fireworks hours ahead of midnight.
  6. While it’s hilarious that we get to sit back and watch, Leon should probably watch who he is mocking - some of these people are unhinged, to say the least. Plus, regardless of what Trump thinks about Musk, if at some point he thinks Musk is dragging him down in any way, he will discard him. Hell, I’m surprised he’s lasted this long with all of the President Musk memes.
  7. Sorry @Brisketexan but his wife has Leukemia and is barred from traveling. https://www.yahoo.com/news/bashar-al-assads-wife-asma-152823887.html
  8. We will be left out by the time it shows up. Austin may not even get below freezing at the rate the forecasts are changing.
  9. Trending is now available (he's a Bluesky developer) Moderated, respects your muted words, can be disabled if annoying. Me really like.
  10. Because Guy Gardner as we know him has been around for 35-40 years in the comics?
  11. it means that if there’s another pandemic, just like OU in the SEC, she will be out looking for the largest crowds she can, licking doorknobs, drinking after random people, blowing homeless dudes, etc. I told a friend about it, and he said he’s heard similar stuff from family members, about boycotting the next pandemic, for reasons that are CR. Weird thing for my cousin to say, as she lost her grandma to COVID and it was not a pleasant experience by any means, as a painful death is wont to be, and said cousin’s mom kept everybody updated daily on FB so we basically got a day-by-day recap of her last two weeks of living. Shoulda scared these people straight.
  12. Either she doesn't understand the First Amendment and that BlueSky (and twitter/X) are private companies and so it doesn't apply to them, or she is counting on her followers not understanding that.Either way, she should know that if any platform would tolerate her whining, it would have been twitter or truth.social and so she gets to make a choice and go to the bargain bin social media site, or setup her own BlueSky domain or Mastodon servers. This was a saying about twitter and Musk unbanning people and inviting them back, and I'm paraphrasing it here, but it applies to BlueSky: If you host a social media platform, and you unban a bunch of Nazis and invite them back to your platform to spew their Nazi shit, then you now have a Nazi social media platform.
  13. So I've been making a holiday tour to visit various relatives in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and North Texas. In Oklahoma, staying at an aunt's, and had a decent-sized gathering, (around 35 people), and one of the dishes was chicken and I jokingly asked if it was safe - they had just killed something like 100,000 chickens within a county or two of where we are staying and it was still in the news. Perhaps I shouldn't have joked about it given the economic impact and that some relatives were in agriculture. On top of that, OU had just imploded against Navy, so I was not a popular person. One of my cousins pointed at me and said "no matter what happens with this bird flu stuff, I'm not going to participate in your pandemic" and my dumbass response was something about "is that like OU deciding not to participate in the SEC?"
  14. I think I saw an anti-vaxxer get banned faster, but can't remember who, only that they bragged on twitter they were going to fuck with BlueSky, jumped on BlueSky, jumped into a vaccine conversation, and a few hundred people immediately blocked and reported them. BlueSky has much better moderation tools and is not afraid to use them to boot trolls and bots. I've been seeing bots get booted from BlueSky within a day, meanwhile I can hop on twitter and see bots I reported weeks ago still doing their thing.
  15. They have nukes and have had nukes for 70 years. Nobody is going to invade them, and they need to get that through their thick skulls.
  16. https://www.msn.com/en-us/politics/government/texas-gov-greg-abbott-mistakenly-sends-condolences-to-late-rosalynn-carter-after-jimmy-carter-s-passing/ar-AA1wFK7x Gov. Abbott's full statement: "Cecilia and I mourn the loss of former President Jimmy Carter alongside millions of Americans across the country. Our nation remains the greatest beacon of freedom and opportunity in the world because of our fearless chief executives who are our guiding force through the best and worst of times. For that, we owe President Carter our enduring gratitude for his service as the 39th President of the United States. Having led a life marked by selfless service to the American people, President Carter leaves behind a great legacy as a husband, father, naval officer, governor, and Nobel prize winner, and he will be greatly missed by many. Cecilia and I send our prayers and deepest condolences to First Lady Rosalynn Carter and the entire Carter family."
  17. Actually, this appears to be one of their sticking points for whatever reason, and they've taken note that Leon was an immigrant and Vivek is the son of immigrants, and they are pissed that "immigrants are deciding immigration policy". It's probably helped that the world's richest man is telling them to go fuck their faces.
