  1. For those of us not as well versed, are any of these new MAGA lunatics in districts that could potentially be in play in the general?
  2. It's been so long since we've been good that I completely forgot about the annual springtime transition from "sips are all overrated" to "no way the sips can replace that elite talent." never change, aggy.
  3. 2013: "Congress has overstepped their authority in enforcing the 14th Amendment" 2024: "Congress is the only body that can enforce the 14th Amendment"
  4. Quick peek into the mind of someone who leaves Austin for Lubbock.
  5. Mike Elko hired 5 coaches that were not brought over from Duke or already on the aggy staff. He watched the 2023 Florida Gators go 5-7 and still decided that 40% of these new hires, as well as his Director of Recruiting, needed to come from this program. I'm sure this will be fine.
  6. Legit one of the worst players the show has ever seen. So bad that it was incredibly entertaining. Legendary performance by Jelinsky.
  7. Here’s the thing: they don’t give a fuck. While the NY Dems are worried about looking too partisan, the Republican Justices are ready to declare Donald Trump a King. One side has concluded that winning is all that matters and it’s why we are a nation circling the drain.
  8. "Y'all are lucky it's even in 2024!" - Sam Alito, probably
  9. A (genuinely intelligent) coworker made the comment today that "ah, looks like Trump will be the nominee again. Guess I should start paying attention, should be interesting." Yet another reminder that most normal people just don't care about this shit yet.
  10. Eager for all the smart lawyer brains to tell me, a stupid person, why this actually is to be expected. Our courts were not designed to handle a man like Trump.
  11. I guess I just don't see the logic here. Biden won Michigan in 2020 by 150k votes. Uncommitted will likely end up between 100-110k. The people who care enough about Gaza to make it a political red-line likely made their voices heard last night. I don't think there is much untapped growth potential in the "uncommitted" number. There is some percentage (I would argue fairly large) of voters who absolutely will still vote Biden, but viewed last night as a consequence free way to let him know they aren't pleased The vast majority of people who do care deeply enough to not vote for Biden will just stay home. Biden won Wayne County (Dearborn) with 68% of the vote. These "Trump is winning Dearborn!" takes are not based in reality, as he won't be getting these people's votes. (And if they do vote for Trump because of Gaza, then they are too stupid to even consider pandering to) Any action dramatic enough to genuinely shift the opinion of the Gaza hardliners would likely have negative repercussions in other, much larger political groups
  12. “BUT BUT BUT THE RAW VOTE TOTALS!!!” - every attention whore on twitter
  13. Fingers crossed there's a backbone in there somewhere!
  14. Jon Stewart made a great observation on this topic. The "great battle" used to be Communism vs Capitalism. Obviously Russia and the US are on opposite sides, here. Now, the "great battle" is woke vs. unwoke. For Republicans, Russia is now an ally in this war.
  15. "It's about how old your ideas are" is genuinely a fantastic rebuttal.
  16. This is an absolutely insane sentence to say out loud and it is batshit that there will be zero repercussions for it.
  17. The thing is, Shane has a number of SNL-esque (NSFW) sketches on Youtube that absolutely kill. He definitely has the skillset, even if it didn't land this weekend. My working theory is that he doesn't fully love being the "Republican" comedian. He's good at hanging with the bros and shooting the shit, which is why he's developed the Barstool following, but I saw him in Houston a few months ago and he seemed noticeably uneasy by the very vocal right-wing attitude in the room. I thought it could have just been an off night for him, but seeing his reaction to the lukewarm SNL audience has given my theory another data point. His two specials have been filmed in Austin and (just outside) Washington, DC, if that speaks to what audience demographic he prefers.
  18. There are 200k Muslims in Muslim. There are 100k Jews. I understand the importance of Michigan, but no President will reshape their entire policy over a gain of AT MOST 100k votes. And the inconvenient truth is that short of Biden personally assassinating Bibi, there likely isn't a realistic action that he can take that will satisfy most of them. The quote from the person who has lost 30 family members shows that they are not thinking rationally about this, nor should they be tbh.
  19. He’s old as fuck and that worries me. <— a legitimate concern He hasn’t done anything to win my vote. <— a cry for attention from a lazy person
  20. The thing about these people is that 95% of them will never vote for the Democratic Party, but need to come up with a new reason every 4 years. 2016 was Bernie, 2020 was Tara Reade, 2024 is Gaza. These aren't lost votes, they’re just people that know who to bitch to in order to get attention. They get way too much attention for a group that is inconsequential.
