  1. Not that anything matters anymore, but lol
  2. This is a solid reminder of the fact that we are following the decision making process of teenagers, and teenagers are universally really bad at making decisions.
  3. See, I disagree wholeheartedly here. I absolutely buy the "excitement" angle and truthfully think that is enough to not pick him. But all of the criticism of Shapiro is due to the moderate/conservative shit he's done. Is the GOP suddenly going to become anti-Israel? Anti-vouchers? Anti-fracking? You think they're going to willingly bring sexual harassment into the equation for this election? There are reasons to not pick Shapiro, but "easy for GOP to attack" ain't one of them.
  4. I guess my counter to this is that Shapiro has been widely considered as a future star of the party for years, and competed in a high visibility, competitive election for Governor. His oppo file was constructed a while ago and his shit is known, for better or worse. Meanwhile, none of us knew who Walz was a month ago, and just TODAY I'm seeing information about a DUI and a photo of him with Netanyahu make it's way across social media. Walz is being made into a folk hero. He's likable as hell and he very well might be one, but I also think there's a bit of willful ignorance involved in putting him on this pedestal.
  5. +rep, this is a phenomenal post. Thanks.
  6. The evidence is clear that he has absolutely no idea what political asylum is. What keeps me going some mornings is knowing that deep down, this man is absolutely miserable that these are the types of supporters he has while his opponent gets "Comics for Kamala."
  7. "Hey remember that time you almost died? Here's a constant reminder on the ugliest vehicle ever made!"
  8. The problem is that so many Dems have made this their SINGLE issue, that they have given Trump all the power on it. Shapiro picked - RAAAAAAGE Shapiro not picked - three months of "DEMS = HAMAS" ads from Trump Over an issue that, objectively, Shapiro and Walz are almost identical on. The main thing working in Walz's favor is that nobody cared who the governor of Minnesota was until three weeks ago.
  9. If we are forced to only talk about VP stuff in one specific thread, then I humbly suggest that the title of that thread have some indication that it is for VP discussion…. Because it currently does not.
  10. I love Walz and think he'd be a great pick, but as an American Jew it is really hard to swallow that we are going to pass on an incredibly popular swing state governor purely because his views on Israel, which are essentially shared by every potential VP candidate, have been singled out FOR SOME REASON.
  11. I'm no finance bro, but it sure seems like the market panic last night/this morning was basically just wishcasting from right wingers?
  12. “Everything bad that happens anywhere on the planet is the direct result of the local political party I oppose.” ALSO “Y’all need to stop being so gullible.”
  13. He’s never been a serious candidate so the minions haven’t felt the need to pull up his college homework yet.
  14. The truth is she has 5+ exceptional options, but the evolution of the dialogue is a good example of why anyone who was hoping for a mini-primary to choose the candidate does not understand how politics works in 2024.
  15. I’m a firm believer in the power of good nicknames, and “Baruch Obama” might single-handedly raise Shapiro’s approval by ten points.
  16. Not to derail the thread, but she’s not even transgender! She’s a biological woman. The “there’s only two genders!” folks are now saying that someone born with a vagina and has never identified as anything else is a man. It’s insanity.
  17. Not that any of this really matters, but can anyone point me to places where Kamala proudly goes around claiming she’s Indian? She obviously is and it’s not like she is trying to hide it, but all of the stuff cited by Republicans in the last 24 hours has been news headlines (“first Indian-American senator”) or other Indian celebrities pointing out that they have a shared heritage. I have heard her, however, proudly claim multiple times that she’s a black woman. Again, not that it matters, but the claims of her “flip flopping” seem to be more about how others describe her and not necessarily how she presents herself.
  18. Couldn’t disagree with this more. It doesn’t need to be the new focal point of her campaign or anything but this a gift that she, personally, should jump all over.
  19. My humble suggestion for his meal:
  20. She'll be able to swat this away in one speech. "I am a proud Indian American and I am also a proud Black American. I feel honored that my diverse background matches the melting pot that is this country, one that allows a man from Jamaica to marry a woman from India and raise a child who gets to experience the magic of multiple cultures and then run to be your next President."
  21. Guarantee that most of the dumbasses in that crowd who claim to not understand mixed heritage are able to fully grasp it on St. Patrick's Day.
  22. He's really doubling down on this.
  23. Lucky for Trump, there isn't a must-win southern swing state that basically depends on his ability to win Black voters over or that his polling leads were based on a historically unprecedented increase in minority support.
