Negative Recruiting Your Own School: The aggy Screenshot Megathread
Texags launched in 1998. The Aggies won their last conference title in 1998. In genuine sincerity, I do not think this is a coincidence. The victim complex groupthink generated by that website amongst that fanbase (even at the highest, most influential levels) has done immeasurable harm to that athletic department, and I love it so much.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out
He’s been committed to them for like 4 months, I’m assuming this was from that announcement. That being said, setting the current table up with a ton of OU gear and picking anyone else would be essentially unprecedented levels of recruiting shenanigans.

This staff's ability to put out fires (with the aid of a few donors, I'm sure) is as solid as I can remember in my time following recruiting.

Just chiming in to say that this thread title makes me laugh every time I see it. Well done.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out
As good as our social media team usually is, our signing day stuff is consistently pretty lackluster/seemingly low-effort when compared to other schools.

FINAL 2024 CFB polls/rankings - Texas #3/ #4 /#3 (CFP/AP/Coaches)
Yeah, that’s a good way to frame it (if Oregon loses.) I tend to agree.

If we win and Penn State pulls off the miracle on Saturday, do they jump us for #1?

Remember this for a future year when people are trying to convince us that the Longhorns will drop behind other teams with similar records. The goal of the committee is entertainment and money, and they understand the goal. Blue bloods will always get the benefit of the doubt.

Hell, this was 7 years ago. A bit overweight, sure, but nothing like the tub of goo on the sideline these days.

2024 Houston Texans Season Thread
I had a bad feeling that Azeez turning into a rabid animal and having to be literally dragged off the field would have an effect on his punishment. Still, didn’t think three games, that’s a shit ton.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out
Fairly certain teenagers of all generations would have reacted similarly to the things we are seeing in the NIL era. And as a fan of one of the teams best positioned to navigate the era, I’m not necessarily complaining, but it’s unfortunate to so openly watch all of the non-financial factors obviously take a backseat. (And I realize a lot of this has been the case for as long as we’ve been following this stuff, but we used to at least be able to pretend motives were pure.)

Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out
Tough to be concerned with anything regarding the program right now, but to experience the worst recruiting day in months (at least based on the intel being provided here) immediately after beating aggy and clinching a spot in the SEC championship game is an unfavorable commentary on the current state of college football.

If you really want to see a shitshow, take away the CCG in the era of superconferences and unbalanced schedules.

FINAL 2024 CFB polls/rankings - Texas #3/ #4 /#3 (CFP/AP/Coaches)
Yeah, I'm fine with the current structure. The byes for conference champions angle might be the only thing keeping any eyes outside the SEC/BIG which is good for the sport. If you REALLY want to make conference championships meaningless, take away that bye week reward. There were years where I was absolutely convinced the Big 12 was stronger than the SEC as a whole, but pollsters did not agree. This ensures that those champions will have a fair shot to prove themselves. Also, I've seen a lot of whining about the 5-seed path and how it's not fair. More often than not, the 5 seed will be a top 2-3 team in the country. Some years, it will be a team that was #1 and lost in the conference championship game. A decent draw of seeds, but having to play one extra game, seems like a fair result.

2023 RB Cedric Baxter Jr.
That 2019 class was cursed, but it’s clear that Whittington and Roschon are two of the most important recruits we’ve signed in decades.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out
I think not considering a player committed if they’re taking secret trips is a reasonable conclusion, given the definition of the word. But if you can build a relationship with a player where they let you know about trips before they happen, I think that’s about as good as you can hope for in this era of college football.

If we don't get a bye, this is up there with the best case other scenarios.

2025 NFL Draft
They might not be the highest rated prospects, but I have as much confidence in Barron and Helm as pros as I have had with almost any prospect we’ve produced in a while. Convinced they both will excel in the NFL.

Trap. Or "Why does M. Knight Shyamalan keep getting allowed to make movies?"
There’s a decent Shyamalan premise in here somewhere. Either make Harnett the killer in a big twist at the end that nobody sees coming or make everything think he’s the killer and it end up being someone else. But to broadcast that Hartnett is the dude IN THE TRAILER and then… just… make that the movie is so dumb. And that doesn’t even take into account the countless inexplicable choices made by every single character. When I saw the decent RT score I figured there had to be a decent twist in there… oops.

Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet, Now Starting for the Miami Dolphins
texags rumor that Quinn reinjured himself in practice yesterday and might be out Saturday. I’ve seen no confirmation that he even practiced yesterday so I’m sure it’s bullshit (also lol texags) but figured this thread needed a new direction beyond the same three posters arguing past each other.
