  1. Correct, although I'm curious as to why you think this ultimately means Biden will be the candidate.
  2. Sucks for the good guys, but the Avengers Endgame-esque final scene with all of the peripheral supes corralling the team was pretty cool.
  3. It's remarkable that so many people have already forgotten what happened in 2020. The Democratic Primary was an absolute slog, it all just seemed so negative and messy ... and then over the course of about 48 hours, everything crystalized around Biden, the negative vibes were gone from everyone except the most hardcore Bernie supporters, people got excited again, Biden soared in the polls and it snowballed into an 8 month campaign of optimism. Everything changed in 48 hours, and all it took was a handful of important people - led by Jim Clyburn - emphatically getting behind Biden. THE EXACT SAME THING could (and likely would) happen with Kamala if Biden bows out and emphatically endorses her. This isn't complicated. There is nothing Biden can do for himself to give the Democratic Party the shot in the arm it sorely needs, but he can absolutely play the 2024 version of Clyburn and fulfill his stated goal of being a transitional president. Just do it, Joe.
  4. Disagree wholeheartedly. That dude is beatable, gotta put your best foot forward now.
  5. This is just sports to these people
  6. Good to know a Newsmax reporter is being referred to as “some Democrats” by other reporters.
  7. “Sources close to the President are furious at the push to get Biden off the ticket…. If they want him out, they’ll have to push.” What is even happening anymore?
  8. Reminder that the Trump/Vance ticket is incredibly easy to campaign against if you are capable of delivering the message: '
  9. I mean this with all due respect, but I think that first paragraph inadvertently says more about you than it does about us.
  10. vaxxed?
  11. I guess this take confuses me. All of this is driven by a deep desire to defeat Trump. Swapping candidates at this stage is essentially unprecedented and the riskiest move imaginable and the furthest thing from "relaxed."
  12. There was a noticeable break in outside pressure from Saturday-Wednesday, that I think many attributed to the Trump shooting. I actually think this was the window they likely gave him to make the call on his own, and now the gloves are off.
  13. I've said this before.... Go reread the Debate thread on here from that night. Same with twitter posts from that evening. Blaming the reaction on media/leadership is a blatant falsehood.
  14. That.... is not what happened at all in 2015?
  15. Finishing the first half at home vs Texas and then going to Seattle immediately after the All-Star break. Feels familiar.
  16. But that's the thing, every piece of evidence is SCREAMING that sticking with Biden is a sure loss. The deck we are playing against is stacked, whether or not we replace Joe. Yes, running up the middle is a more predictable path that theoretically could work, but there's a reason teams attempt a Hail Mary when they are 50 yards from the end zone on their last play.
  17. Look, it's fine to be frustrated with the situation, but I will not accept that millions of people collectively agreeing at the same time that this dude cannot be our President is a bad thing. This wasn't some power grab or coup based on difference in policy. This wasn't some long simmering feud where everyone was waiting for a moment to strike. Biden had 100% party support prior to June 27. This was a genuine, impromptu reaction to what was playing out before our eyes, and I do not accept that the answer is blind loyalty. Additionally, being able to effectively and persuasively communicate is, like, THE most important skill for a President, and it's silly to blame the media for pointing out when a candidate clearly can no longer do this. Biden has done a great job and I hate that he is in this current state. But asking Democrats to ignore their eyes and vote for Joe no matter what, especially after 8 straight years of demonizing Republicans who do the same, is not the path to victory.
  18. I know, can you imagine? She might even confuse the Secretary of Defense with a Supreme Court Justice or tell a crowd that she’s capped rent increases at $55.
  19. I think baiting the loudest and worst segment of the opposition party is a smart political move.
  20. Given the timeline of events (meeting last weekend with Dem leaders and the sudden outpouring of "he needs to step down" comments from congressional leaders yesterday), many are speculating that Biden was given a few days to make the call on his own and now the Party is going all-in to get him out. The COVID diagnosis and resulting campaign fallout is just another datapoint that folks can use against him.
  21. Reagan-Bush-Clinton the most recent. Not exactly the question you asked, but there were 7 different presidents in the 7 election cycles between 1956 and 1980.
  22. Additionally, Pennsylvania Constitution states that the Lt. Gov. (also a Dem) would serve the rest of Shapiro's term. Kelly's vacancy would result in a special election, which may be too risky given the current margins.
