  1. The best thing for the country would be for the "normie" Republicans to decide that the insane MAGA cult is not worth coddling anymore. It won't happen, obviously, but stuff like this really puts it front and center.
  2. The Angels organization LITERALLY killed one of their players, yet it receives 1% the coverage/vitriol as the sign stealing stuff - because the Angels suck. It isn't about the cheating.
  3. Damn, rumor has it that this will be one of the categories today: "Fanbases that have trashed statues meant to honor firefighters who died in the stadium." I hear Rangers fans are experts on this topic, but unfortunately they won't be watching today.
  4. Kevin McCarthy is the newest inductee into the Trevor Bauer "don't be a fucking douchebag because one day you may need the benefit of the doubt" Hall of Fame.
  5. I'm honestly just thankful that my team's transgressions were merely on the field, and not (hypothetically, of course) the systemic sexual abuse of minor leaguers. I can't imagine the shame I would have felt had that been the case.
  6. I'm gonna spend far more time than you deserve responding to this, but here goes... There were plenty of us who felt shameful and embarrassed at first. Nobody likes to see their team in the headlines for negative reasons, and in the beginning of 2020 it seemed like this was just another misstep for an organization that seemed to make many. But it quickly became evident that this wasn't about the cheating, it was a Get out of Jail Free Card that allowed opposing fanbases to tap into their darkest selves to scream at the team that has been kicking their asses for a decade. It's the complete lack of intellectual curiosity to investigate further or acknowledge the countless players who have said the Astros were not alone. (Carlos Beltran goes from Rangers to Astros and tells his new team that they are behind the times when it comes to sign stealing, yet not a single Rangers fan has the ability to put two and two together.) It's the booing of players who were in the minor leagues in 2017. It's the villainization of Altuve, who in a sane world would be one of the most cherished men in the sport. It's the ever shifting rationalization that allows fanbases to celebrate acquiring ex-Astros players while still booing those who have not left. It's the discussions around the trade deadline acknowledging the lack of talent in the Astros minor league systems, while in the same breath claiming that the Astros were not punished. We could be on here every single day begging for your forgiveness, and none of it would matter. Because this isn't about the cheating. Your fanbase has had a (still ongoing!) 48 hour conniption fit because a beat writer playfully (and accurately) pointed out that the team that popped bottles got shut out the next day while the team that had a mild toast won big, yet you expect me to believe that Astros fans are unique in their unwavering support of their team? Get the fuck out of here. That said... best of luck today. Surely the Rays won't have any pitchers as good as Prelander Berroa.
  7. "pretty close" is doing a hell of a lot of heavy lifting here.
  8. If we had literally won ONE more game against them, we would damn near be a lock.
  9. The refusal to put an obviously finished Brantley on the injured list and intentionally shortening our bench is as close as you can get to a true "fired for cause: incompetence" scenario for the GM.
  10. Not to pick on Dubon because every single player has given something similar, but these types of quotes are seriously pissing me off. For weeks now, every single person in that clubhouse has insinuated that we will eventually figure it out, and that starts at the top. (Also, I'd love it if Dana Brown never spoke publicly again as he is the worst culprit of this mindset.)
  11. Not a fucking chance I stay up to watch these douchebags. Already pissed at them ruining my mornings when I check the score.
  12. Gotta let him rest up for Spring Training.
  13. Kinda looking forward to a stress-free October.
  14. After sleeping on it and calming down... I still hate this team.
  15. Think of how weird you have to be to call Tom Herman a lifelong friend
  16. I don't blame you for having this impression based on the incredibly poor marketing campaign, but the story is much more nuanced and the elements are merely a conduit used to help tell this story.
  17. Gundy is the answer to the question "what if Mike Leach wasn't inexplicably charming?" and the result isn't pretty once the team stops winning.
  18. One other thing - did the players entrance seem extremely anti-climactic to anyone else? Then they played the hype video AFTER the team was already on the field, which seemed weird to me...
  19. The 4 minute commercial breaks do more to kill the energy than anything else listed here. It's a fucking eternity in the stadium and needs to be addressed at a national level.
  20. Every single person involved in the marketing of this movie needs to be fired. I had absolutely no interest in this movie based on the advertising/buzz yet it ended up being one of my favorite animated movies in years. Even got my kiddo emotional, which was… unexpected. Highly recommend.
  21. I’ll root like hell for them, but I hate this fucking team.
