  1. It shouldn't be, but the thought of a 12 year-old getting hammered out of despair on 9/11 is an oddly funny image.
  2. Talk about glossing over your new 5-star recruit casually visiting his home town school the week after committing. I'm sure there's nothing to see there.
  3. Any potential for a letdown will likely be countered by the environment created by the first night game of the season and an uncharacteristically raucous fanbase (for a game against Wyoming) excited to cheer for the team that just took out 'Bama. The concern is valid, but the team sure seemed to say all the right things after the game.
  4. Wild how a reputation can completely ignore facts. I bet if you asked the average college football fan who has more players in the league currently, 80%+ would guess aggy over us.
  5. “It’s easy if you got a Julio Rodríguez, you just put him out in center field,” Baker told reporters. ---- “It’s hard to be a big boy right out the gate. What is this, Chas’ third or fourth year? The big boys are Altuve, Bregman, Tucker, those are the big boys. The other boys are approaching big boys.” These two quotes in the same article are going to make my brain explode.
  6. Look man, I wholeheartedly agree that this argument is dumb as hell and pointless in this thread. We're merely pointing out that the premise for your "GUNNAR RULES" argument falls apart under the lightest bit of scrutiny, especially when compared to a strikingly similar scenario from only a year ago. And here's the thing, Gunnar is great! This has nothing to do with him. There is just a lot of frustration in here from Astros fans that Yainer isn't even in the ROY discussion.
  7. But you just told me that "a rookie C, no matter how good his O, isn’t as valuable as a rookie SS who regularly shows off 5 tool skills." Pardon my confusion.
  8. So one year ago today, you would have said that Jeremy Pena is more valuable than Adley Rutschman?
  9. LOL, be honest. You had absolutely no idea that Yainer's offensive numbers were better than Gunnar. (And that isn't your fault! Our manager treats him like a AAAA player instead of quite possibly the best offensive player at his position on the planet.)
  10. If we are being honest, how we played vs. Rice was pretty much the perfect scenario ahead of Saturday (except for those who had money on it, I guess). Game was never in doubt and drew no attention from anyone outside of Austin, but will give us plenty of shit to work on. The third quarter allowed the team to see how fucking dominant they can be when they execute, but the first half gave them all a reminder that you actually still have to execute. Obviously the team would never be in danger of overlooking 'Bama, but I think I prefer the mindset that a bunch of 18-22 year-olds will approach this week with now instead of if we had won 70-0.
  11. The Football board never ceases to amaze me with its ability to confirm what every rival fanbase says about ours.
  12. The only thing with more ese’s is the town Helo grew up in.
  13. I follow this shit closer than 99% of the population and I have never, on any platform, seen an Astros fan offer an opinion on the Yankees farm system. Although, I do understand your connection to Jassssson. “We are huge Yankee fans and want to name our son after Jason Giambi but we are too fucking stupid to learn how to spell Jason correctly” must hit close to home.
  14. 2006 aggy saving the season with a win against big brother
  15. I’ll take one aggy over an entire conference of them.
  16. Bingo. I know the rival internet commentary is that we will struggle being in a conference with other powerhouses, but honestly I’m looking forward to having conference-mates that don’t all try to out Little Brother each other.
  17. We've won plenty of faith-centric recruitments, and will continue to do so. Kevin Washington in particular is phenomenal at making connections in that arena. Sometimes, people just feel more comfortable elsewhere and they will find a reason to justify that feeling.
  18. Any inside knowledge here or is this a conclusion purely drawn from the musings/overconfidence of 9.95ers?
  19. Remember when we all found out that 3 star true freshman Jason Hall was going to start? “Oh shit! Our coaches must have found a diamond in the rough! This is incredible!” And then we saw him play, and all realized what it meant that a 3 star true freshman was our best option. Gonna be a fun season!
  20. Don't remember if I vocalized it on here, but I was absolutely convinced he was done. Stoked to be wrong, and even more excited that he appears to not have lost a step.
