  1. In January we put in an offer on a house ($15k over asking) and lost out to a cash buyer. The SAME FUCKING HOUSE came back on the market 6 months later (with zero improvements) at $70k higher than the previous list price. We put in another offer ($20k over asking this time) and lost out again. House was on the market less than 72 hours both times. This is in FUCKING KATY. Shit ain't sustainable.
  2. From someone currently looking, you aren't getting a decent 2 story in Katy for under $500k. The affordability argument for Houston is rapidly deteriorating. Better than the coasts? Sure. But the savings are no longer a no brainer worth dealing with all the other shit that comes with it.
  3. I suspect that if this was the direct quote, more witnesses in the class would have been able to pinpoint it as the offending statement. The fact that nobody was able to remember what the professor said is a pretty good sign that this is bullshit (not that it would be a fireable offense either way.)
  4. Javier definitely was, but I don't think any of the others were on anyone's radar as a potential difference maker.
  5. Saw a comparison today of Brett Gardner that was meant to be a compliment towards Gilbert. How will we manage?!
  6. Sounds like the Mets REALLY want Baltimore to be the team. Every single baseball writer has tweeted about how the Orioles would be the best match in the last 30 minutes. Cohen is not being subtle.
  7. Prediction: at around 3:30, we hear that the Mets have decided to keep Verlander. Everyone on the internet freaks out. Shortly after the deadline, it is revealed that we landed him, for a price that is more than many expected. Everyone on the internet freaks out again.
  8. I have had a few moments of clarity today, realizing I probably should have waited another 48 hours before buying my gold Chas jersey yesterday.
  9. "We don't need starting pitching" *immediately sends down one of our starters to snag the worst relief pitcher on the Brewers*
  10. As someone who gave one back in the day, "came off like a Bar Mitzvah speech" is one of the cruelest insults I've ever heard towards a politician.
  11. Dusty is such a conundrum. His regular season lineups are criminal and some of the shit he says should have him closer to a mental institution than a major league dugout. But it cannot be denied that he has been masterful in the playoffs these last three seasons. Brushing that aside as "anyone could do it!!" is an oversimplification of baseball, and a complete erasure of some OTHER recent Astros teams where it could/should have applied. 2020 was the worst roster we've had since 2014 and somehow we were one win away from the asterisk World Series. 2021 had a rotation held together by duct tape (Urquidy, Garcia, and the corpse of Zack Greinke started 4 of the 6 games in the World Series) and yet we had the fourth most successful season in franchise history 2022 may be the best bullpen management in the history of the playoffs. Just about every single move he made ended up working out. I have no idea how or why this is the case, but he generally pushes all the right buttons in the playoffs. I hate that his buffoonery in the regular season erases most of this goodwill. (That being said, this better be his last year.)
  12. Even if he was, it’s an insanely ignorant way to analyze trades. The Rangers system is far superior to ours due to their many years of shittiness. Their top 10 guys carry a lot more value than ours.
  13. Mets would have needed to throw in Alonso as well for many on this board to be okay with losing Lee.
  14. This is just a legendary case of fumbling the bag.
  15. Apologies, didn’t think to double check my sources. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rogerja03.shtml https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=julks-000cor
  16. Corey Julks has a higher WAR this season than Jake Rogers, who is apparently a top ten catcher in this league and proof positive that we may miss Korey Lee one day.
  17. If Jake fucking Rogers is the 9th best catcher in the league, then I feel even better about this trade.
  18. Many of you obviously view Lee still as a first round pick, instead of the non-factor that he has become.
  19. How does anyone know what Lee's true trade value is? He's a 25 year old minor-league catcher with a hole in his bat. Those don't typically headline deals for a star. Hell, even the people in this thread who are sad about losing him have set his ceiling at around 1.0 WAR per season.
  20. Korey Lee is a 25 year old in AAA with an OPS lower than Grae Kessinger, Rylan Bannon, and Bligh fucking Madris. Having another option for the 8th inning of a one run game in September this year is far more important than 30 games next season of a catcher batting .208 with 2 home runs. Those of you crying about this can pull out your scrapbooks of Abraham Toro, Brett Phillips, and the rest of the prospects that people have shit their pants about losing.
  21. If I'm the Mets thinking about a deal with Arlington, this chart terrifies me.
  22. RFK is just Bannon's 2024 version of Kanye. Someone he thinks will disrupt the Democratic vote share and spoil for Biden, except he's too dumb to see past his 2D view of the electorate. Once it becomes clear that RFK won't do shit in the primary, I do think he is a smart bet as Trump's VP. They will wink and try to pitch it as some sort of "unity" ticket, despite RFK being to the right of most Republicans.
