  1. Well yeah but the local psychic told them to; so clearly they had no other choice.
  2. My BIL was a UPS driver. They get tickets everyday. UPS tells them to park right up front anyway and hand the tickets in at the end of the day. UPS pays them. The cost of the ticket is worth it to keep the operation moving fast.
  3. You just posted a screenshot of my most common ride. In the section between escarpment and mopac I like to do the two creek crossings to make it like a double figure 8. There’s also a nice rocky windy section if you keep going west of escarpment, through the tunnels and then up to the left. It goes back behind the disc golf course. On longer days I connect it to Slaughter Creek Preserve or I cross Slaughter at Walgreens and onto the network of trails that go north toward Violet Crown. They aren’t my favorite trails in Austin, but it’s quick and close so I end up there more often than not.
  4. He’s worried about the kids, not the wife.
  5. I’d get the five year old out of the floaties. All they will do is delay the learning to swim process. Same as training wheels on a bike. They both help teach the stuff that’s not really important in the beginning, pedaling and doing some sort of stroke up on the surface of the water. Both also prevent learning the most important things, balance on a bike and being calm underwater in a pool. Edit: I may have misread that. Maybe you meant a float toy like a noodle or something and not floaties attached to their arms.
  6. Not sure what aggy has to do with anything here but Admiral McRaven is 10 tines the man Donald is in every way. I’m glad to see him speak up.
  7. You can definitely ask and a professional controller will usually tell you the reason if he can’t do not. Not all are professional but most are.
  8. We skipped cub scouts and webelos and joined a Boy Scout troop when my kid entered 6th grade. It’s kind of low-priority for my son. He likes it and I love the mentoring he gets from the older boys. But sports often gets in the way and that’s a bigger priority for him. We sometimes go several months without attending a meeting or campout. But he still progresses. Tomorrow we head to the Florida Keys for Seabase. A week of sailing around the Keys, fishing, snorkeling. My kind of camp.
  9. Haven’t done one yet. Used to do a couple Cat IIs a year at IAH at the old gig. I try to fly out west a lot now, just for a change of scenery. The weather is always so much nicer. I also mainly do PM trips. Cat-anything is for the AMers, while I’m asleep.
  10. He must be talking about that red tide in the gulf and his plan to curtail it... err.. blame it on the environmentalists. http://www.foxnews.com/science/2018/08/07/toxic-algae-bloom-killing-marine-life-making-people-sick-along-floridas-gulf-coast.html
  11. At SWA we don't have auto-land. Cat III's are hand-flown to 50' agl. By then you have to see the terminating bars or anything downfield from there. Captain flies it on the HUD, FO makes the altitude calls.
  12. I'm as progressive minded as anyone but this report is worthless without knowing exactly what each infraction was and what the student's attitude was like between getting caught and getting punished.
  13. And now I just chill at the Blue Cat Lodge, a little place I bought on the Lake of the Ozarks...
  14. Doesn't he know you can get a ticket for this in Austin? At least he's not in the left lane.
  15. ^^^ I used to give flying lessons to one of the members of the Flametrick Subs. And my first driving lessons were in my grandmother’s VW Squareback. She also had a Thing but I never saw it run. That’s all I got.
  16. Chicken nugget talk not going away. Team anything without a bone is a nugget. Strips, tenders, boneless wings... all nuggets. Some are of higher quality than others but all are nuggets and all are for children.
  17. Ypres is a cool little city with a ton of WWI history. They fought over that area of Flanders three different times in the great war. Within 15 minutes of town you can see the remains of Hill 60, a re-made trench where Hitler fought as a young private, the site of the soccer match in no-mans-land on Christmas, and some other cool spots. Aside from that, it’s a cool little town with good restaurants and bars in the central plaza surrounded by cobblestone streets and 700 year old buildings. Its about an hour on the train from Brussels.
  18. Tell your wife you need some Tang and that you can find it on campus.
  19. When i get picked up from AUS I tell her to pick me up upstairs where departures get dropped off. Much less of a clusterfuck of traffic up there. Even if you had checked luggage, that trip back up the escalator saves you time.
