  1. DGAF if this is unpopular or not, but it's accurate: Yesterday absolutely fucking sucked. It was the most gutting loss for me since Tech '08. However, while Oklahoma is the game that 100 percent without question want to win more than any on the schedule, in a vacuum it's also probably the least important game on the 2021 schedule in terms of games the Texas program needs to win in order to believe there is and will be progress under Sark. As far as yesterday is concerned, the Athletic did a piece a while back that was an anonymous survey of recruiting coordinators and one thing they said was that winning and losing isn't as important as you think it would be to recruits. Their line of thinking is that they'll come in and make weak spots better. So a historic pants shitting really fucking sucks, but the net loss overall probably isn't much. So why are the other games more important? Here's Texas' record against the rest of the middle tier Big 12 teams since 2010: Baylor: 6-5 Iowa State: 7-4 (3-3 last six) Oklahoma State: 4-7 Kansas State: 6-5 TCU: 3-7 West Virginia: 5-4 We all want Texas to be this big swinging dick program and go 14-0 every year, but shit man, we gotta get back to 10 win seasons regularly before that and that shit ain't gonna happen until we start beating the rest of the Big 12 teams (as long as we're still in this limp dick conference) So no, yesterday wasn't rock bottom. Yesterday was probably a Top-5 stomach punch loss in the last 40 years, but everything you want to achieve is still in front of you. Start by kicking Okie Lite's ass, handle your business the rest of the year, get the rematch with OU and finish the fucking job this time. Can they do it? That's not the point. The point is there's still plenty you can achieve this year.
  2. Shiiiit, letting Naivar stay on after the Utah Alamo Bowl would've been a better option than what we got now.
  3. All I hope is that today taught Sark that offensive line has to become a major priority in recruiting now and going forward. The talent pool is shit right now and they need a quick fix. If they have to hit the portal this winter then fucking do it.
  4. We knew the hires the previous coaches made at the DC position were questionable. This one was supposed to be good and it's been a complete disaster. It's so deflating.
  5. Louisiana, Rice & Tech we didn't need to do anything Arkansas we didn't need to do anything for a horribly different reason TCU we just let Bijan put the team on his back I'm excited for tomorrow because I think Sark has some wrinkles in the playbook he hasn't needed yet and what better time to use them than against OU.
  6. I was curious to see Casey's numbers on deep balls and they aren't good at all, but I was surprised to find that he barely throws to the outside.
  7. Any time you can go from a two score game to a two score game you gotta do it.
  8. The second best thing that has happened to A&M football this century is the playoff committee sparing them a skull fucking by Alabama and them being able to complain forever that they were "robbed"
  9. I thought the decision to make Card the starter was odd, but the best I can tell is that this staff immediately recognized Casey's inability to throw a deep ball and hoped the passing game could be more vertical with Card and he just ended up not being it either.
  10. You know an officiating crew is bad when the CENTER JUDGE is noticeably fucking terrible at his job.
  11. I know the Kwiatkowski hire was universally well liked, but the early returns are just horrendous.
  12. I'm not saying Ole Miss won't cover and you're right about a track meet, but dinging Alabama for only beating Florida by two points on the road when Florida is MILES AND MILES better than the best teams Ole Miss has played while Ole Miss hasn't played a road game yet is just fucking wild.
  13. I hate this game every year. It's Gary Patterson's Superbowl and it will always be more important to them than us. I also have this feeling the last time we play them before we move to the SEC is the last time we're going to play them in the regular season because I don't see an upside in scheduling them anymore. We still might just that much better than them, but it's not a game I take lightly. I hate those fuckers.
  14. Because of the sad state our program has been in for the last decade plus this could honestly go down as our best non-conference performance since Ohio State 2005. If you look at our highest profile non-conference wins since Ohio State, the list is sad: '07 vs # 19 TCU, 2011 at UCLA, 2012 at Ole Miss, 2016 vs #10 Notre Dame, 2018 vs #21 USC. That's it. It's so pathetic. Three of those teams ended up with losing records. Ole Miss ended up 7-6 (although the record books say 0-6 for Hugh Freeze being Hugh Freeze) and TCU was 8-5 in 2007. I know we're establishing a very low bar here, but it's not a crazy idea.
  15. Re-watched the offense this morning (I understand offense conceptually more than I do defense) and feel about the same way I felt during the game. - Card was just so impressive. I thought there were new-starter jitters on the opening drive where he missed open options on his two incompletions, but on his first pass of the next series he looks left and had nobody option, moved to his right while keeping his eyes down field and when he had nobody open there dumped it to Bijan for a nine yard gain. Those are the kinds of things that stand out for a young quarterback. He's got a good arm and is mobile, but the ability to show actual quarterbacking skills was impressive. - Not talking talent, but skill set and what they bring to the table, did Sark have a player like Whittington at Alabama? He's going to be able to create mismatches with him all over the field. Whittington isn't going to beat anyone deep, but he's going to be a monster on short and intermediate routes and we know he has the pedigree to take the ball out of the backfield too. Total Swiss Army Knife type player. - Bijan is good at football. Lining him out wide is going to be so unfair to defenders which rules. - The deep passing game is a work in progress. We really need someone to step up in that regard. - The offensive line is a bad run blocking unit. I thought they held up in pass pro ok, most of the plays UL made were good schemes but there were a couple of breakdowns. Overall they were fine pass blocking, but goddamn they could not generate a push at all until the fourth quarter. UL's d-line just stood their ground all day and really didn't allow much. There were some glaring poor technique and effort, particularly when guys were asked to pull. It's really the thing that could hinder any kind of quick turnaround we might have this year. All in all I haven't been that unstressed during a game in forever. We completely controlled the game after UL went up 3-0 and the result was never in doubt. Overall performance to be proud of and if we're ready to play Saturday we'll kick woo pig pooeys ass.
  16. Really enjoying everything except the o-line which still can't block anyone. Card looks solid, I like what Sark's dialing up, defense has been good although the last drive was a familiar tune. Gotta be really happy with everything except this dogshit offensive line.
  17. The South Dakota State-Southern Illinois game was AWESOME.
  18. I binged both seasons the last couple of weeks after hearing some good things about the finale (a TV writer vaguely talking about how good it was before the review embargo was up) and I really enjoyed it and the season finale was a stomach punch. I do have concerns about season 3 which I guess I'll spoiler because the finale was so recently?
  19. Snitch tagging the NCAA is legitimately the most bitch-ass move of all time
  20. Yeah, like I said I don't really care that they did it, it just doesn't seem like a thing that fits with the general aesthetic of our athletic department so I thought it was interesting. And, once again for emphasis, fuck Nebraska.
  21. Not that I care about the reason for it, but was there something more to this other than Lexi Sun transferring to Nebraska? Did she talk bad about the program too? Again, don't care, fuck John Cook and Nebraska, I was just curious if there was more to the story.
  22. There was no rhyme or reason to much of anything this spring. Some teams opted to play just in the Spring, some teams opted to play just in the Fall, some teams did both. Some teams didn't play at all. The last one is certainly one of the reasons why we got Jeff Choate to take an assistant job with us. He had Montana State rolling with positive momentum and they were going to go a full year without playing. That's tough on an FCS program.
  23. The 9-2 team played four games in the fall. Games in the fall counted towards the overall record. A 7 to 3 game disparity in the spring is also a lot, but not as crazy as 11. The teams with 3 wins came from conferences where most of the teams opted out of the season.
  24. Shaka Smart had an 11 win season and got FOUR more years at Texas without winning an NCAA Tournament game. You don't get that kind of job security at a basketball school, so good luck!
  25. I will try to be succinct and not put too many numbers in here, but I'm bored all the time now so I did some research and I feel confident in saying the loss to Abilene Christian was the second worst loss in NCAA Tournament history only behind Virginia losing to UMBC and that's ONLY because that was a 1-16 game. UMBC played a hell of a lot better against Virginia than ACU did Texas. Since the field expanded to 64 in 1985 there have been 32 upsets by 14, 15 and 16 seeds. Of the 32 winners ACU had - The worst FG percentage (29.9) - The second fewest field goals (20) - Tied for the second fewest 3pt FG (3) - Tied for third word 3pt FG percentage (16.7) Of the three other teams as bad or worse from three, ACU had the lowest 2pt FG percentage by far. The only team with fewer made field goals was Stephen F Austin against WVU in 2016 and they hit seven threes and took 13 fewer shots. Furthermore, if you look at ACU's analytics profile their strengths were turnover pct (1st in the nation), effective FG pct defense (17th in the nation) and were a modest offensive rebounding team (74th in the country) which is actually pretty impressive considering they're legit one of the smallest teams in the country. Basically, ACU played exactly the way you'd expect them to play and any coaching staff worth a shit would've had their team ready to play and Shaka didn't. ACU played like shit in that game. Texas played slightly worse. TL;DR - Abilene Christian sucks and Shaka Smart sucks worse.
