  2. Tread lightly my friend, don't want the FAA slapping you with multiple thousand dollar fines. See my post, that one extends to Canyon Lake till 7/13
  3. That’s a fair point, but in defense of my point, you have an entire contingent of posters (and yes I understand I may be biased) that immediately refuse to engage and just respond to any point they don’t like with “take it to the CR”. All the while giving potshots of their own opposing views, and of course, this may be bait, but it works, because they refuse to engage in an actual conversation in the correct place. I get that it is hard to do a trail run. Might I suggest locking both forums and creating a new trial run all encompassing forum? You and I are just speculating one way or the other will or won’t work, but neither of us know for sure. My assumption is locking both and creating another gives you a somewhat reversible way to switch back if the thunderdome doesn’t work. My hope is this allows yall to do less moderating outside a single cesspool, and also does not choke the golden goose that is recruiting. But I’m just suggesting ideas.
  4. Fair enough. I disagree, but its your board. The other option, is to have a news board that requires approval for posts. I think that is more effort than what I suggested for the mod team.
  5. I moved to Fluid view last year (thanks for the rec) so I could remove from view the CR and DT and I only move into view when big things are happening and it has improved my mood and BP immensely. Ask my wife, I’m a much more pleasant person to be around. Are things more fucked up? Possibly. Are we more divided now because of the internet? Absofuckinglutely. Your point about people coming here for recruiting news is valid. My point about you spending 99% of your time trying to avoid pissfights between left and right (DT and CR) could be solved by shelving everything into a single forum. I’m on lots of other forums that are similar in they exist for a single topic, but they keep anything news/politics to a single forum, and nothing bleeds. Fence the left and right in to a single playground. As it stands, you have divided the board left vs right into two separate boards. I agree, that a lot spills out of DT. But at the same time, the folks that complain you handle the DT posters differently because they only post in DT can also be correct (and when I say you, I don’t only mean you, its all the mods). This could all be solved by merging the forums. Contain the shit to a single forum. Nuke everything outside that forum.
  6. @immamac its a thankless job, but at some point you are either going to have to combine DT and CR for your own sanity or delete the boards altogether. Our current cultural climate in this country means everything is an tangled mess. Unleash the thunderdome.
  7. The few RV parks I have stayed in over the years always required a headcount at check in. And quite a few had you list names of everyone associated with the individual site. But I don’t have a huge amount of experience, and all of the parks we stayed at were either federally/state managed or on the higher end of private.
  8. See my quoted post above.
  9. They got 20 inches of rain overnight. The San Gabriel and pretty much every creek and low spot is inundated.
  10. This starts at 1:30 and goes to 5.
  11. Man, that cell up on the north side of Lake Travis is just wild. Did basically the same thing as the storm that inundated the Guad/SanSaba. Just sat and spun all night. Hope anyone up in that area is safe.
  12. This should help Canyon quite a bit.
  13. As someone born in Tom Green County and spent too many fucking days in a neighboring county digging post holes on top of the divide till I was 15 and moved away, #TeamSanAngeloBar.
  14. Hey @immamac, this post needs an eye-roll +1 rep
  15. He’s jealous AF. This is projection, because he cannot do what you do. Typical Sack of Shit behavior.

    Kayaking

That a boy Ed! Send me a PM next time and I’ll join you with the boy. We won’t have the pups to entertain us this time (RIP girls) but will still have a grand time. I’ve been caught a few times on the river as well (we were actually on the river the day before the Memorial Day flood, and spent more time sheltering than floating).
  17. They can’t have more than 49 people above floor ten at any point due to fire marshal standards. Our floor can accommodate 50. There are 5. The lower floors store plants for CNS most of the year. You would need to tear down and rebuild to change it. They are in process of the first renovation since it was constructed in 1936 (why I’m on floor 21 and not 1). We are lucky the tower is a symbol or it would have been demolished long ago.
  18. It’s been that way since I moved up there last year. They will open them when they need to. Be patient, they are not automatic.
  19. I’m on floor 21, middle window, we have a mandatory closing of the blinds policy (building manager requirement). I said fuck it today. Blinds up, lights on.
  20. It’s bad but not catastrophic . Gonna be lots of damage west side of town. My folks are southwest and had golf ball to tennis ball hail for almost 15 minutes straight. Lots of trees and power poles down.
