  1. Pano before the storm in South Austin. Loving this new drone. Was pleasantly surprised downtown came out so well.

Yeah, it sounds like it is about a half mile paddle each way, based on a few articles I’ve read.

No, not that I know of. You can do Devils SNA for day use, but it is a mile hike to the river, that you have to haul all your gear each way, then it is a paddle down and upriver.
  4. There are usually some on twitch.
  5. Two friends I grew up with (brother and sister) were shot and killed in College Station some years back. Killer was an ex BF of the younger sister. Stayed at the scene, and was fingered as the shooter by the sister as she bled out. Dude is on death row. I check every year to see if he has been shanked yet. No luck so far....
  6. Yeah, the last 4 or 5 minutes of the video I posted above are drone footage of the busted dams and empty lakebed.
  7. Hey @ROFL BOX, if you are the type of roofer to chase storms, Lubbock got hammered last night. Golfball/baseball size hail. My folks lost all of their sky lights, and one of the roof vents according to my dad, and his company truck is likely totaled. Storm went right through the center of the city.
  8. We went June 1 of 2018 and damn near melted. There were 3 of us, and each carried a gallon of water and were damn near out at the end. We were there the hottest day of the summer to that point and it was miserable. Good luck, it’s hot as shit.
  9. 5.45 inches was the event total at mine.
  10. Upgraded my toy drone(Mavic Mini) I got for Christmas for a more prosumer model (Mavic Air 2). Got some good shots after the storms tonight. Still need to figure out the Hyperlapse feature, as mine were way too busy. Love this thing, am really hopeful for some cool cinematic shots on the river with the Active Track features.
  11. 4.02" and still going in 78748.

San Marcos in between Martindale and Staples.
  13. We used AirBNB and stayed in one of the large developments in Princeville.
  14. We went last September. Make sure your bedroom has AC. It was hot. Edit to add, we stayed north from the advice here and loved it. Here is a small sampling to wet your appetite:

Got out for our maiden river trip this year. Only happened 3 months later than usual.

  17. My brother made it 22 miles in his outback last summer. The deep ruts caused by lifted trucks finally caused him to stop, when the beach got too narrow. That thing was a monster in the soft sand. He could go right next to the dunes when I was in the ruts in my truck and have no issues....
  18. You will have no issues, boards might be helpful if you get in trouble, but you can also let some air out of your tires as well. Shovel can be used to dig a latrine.
  19. I've driven to MM 15 before in 2WD. Stay near the water, and the sand will be nicely packed. Take a shovel. You will be fine. There will be people in minivans and sports cars that go farther than you.
  20. PINS. Drive until you have as much space as you want, park car, have fun. Nearly 70 miles of beach, and even on the most packed days the last few summers, we just drive a little further and usually have no one within 500 yards on either side.
  21. Texas you can do OTF. Changed several years ago.
  22. That thing popped. And of Course it happened right over Bee Cave, @phdhorn always gets the rain!
  23. Perfectly legal these days in Texas.....
