  1. So I don't ever get on nextdoor, but I got a weird email notification, so I logged in for the first time in forever. Here is a screenshot of what piqued my interest: So that is interesting, so down the rabbit hole I go, here are the highlights...
  2. If you are a fan of sours, and are going to be in Tilamook, stop by de Garde. Cool little tap room, and great beer.
  3. It was an Amazon deal of the day, so no idea on brand
  4. If any of you were thinking about that Kammock setup, use my link to purchase, I get a little back, then share your link. https://3e5efb15.kckb.st
  5. Yeah, the Jungle nest is comparable to my cheap-o. Its ok, but not perfect. The main problem is the bug net solutions for those, they droop and get in your way, I like how the Kammock has the lines down to the tarp stakes to keep it open. Also, you are spot on with most about set up, and that is what excites me the most about this one. They show set up is crazy quick. Either way, my cheap-o is about used up, so I went ahead and backed.
  6. Link thoughts on this from you hammock campers? I’ve been drooling over a Hennessey for a few years, but this looks easier to set up. I have a cheap amazon hammock right now with an integrated bug net, but it is not near as comfy as my regular eno.
  7. Going to visit friends next weekend (22nd) in Seattle, and they currently have no power due to Winter storm Whoseits, and the havoc it has/is wreaking up in the PNW. Looking at the 10-day doesn't give me lots of confidence about much changing, but I am also very unfamiliar with the weather up there. Thoughts? Obviously if they still don't have power by then, we will get a hotel. Have a rental car right now, but its unlikely its AWD, do I need to request one with? My wife is already freaking out about how many bags she's gonna have to check with winter clothes.
  8. We spent a week in Oregon this last October. Flew in to Portland, camped our way down the coast to RWNP, up and over to CL, back to Mt Hood, the CRG, and MSH. Here is a cross post from the camping thread
  9. My dad and brother each got one for Xmas. The shipping boxes were fantastic.
  10. I actually went to REI to buy the precip. Ended up walking out with an REI branded Ranier. Was a bit cheaper, had all the same features the precip, and fit me a little better. Also, I was burnt orange.
  11. @Beau Vine where you staying? That looks awesome.
  12. There is a lift gate, not sure about the adjustable lift rods though.

  14. Lubbock is 3202. The Panhandle might as well be Canada for most Texans.
  15. Anyone got a good rain jacket rec? I've always had cheapies, and my last one just bit the dust this morning. Would like something that can be layered over warmer things when needed.
  16. Got any Seafood recs? Can't miss Asian places?
  17. I don't mind either. Other than the lack of access to the outdoors, but we just had friends move up there, and will be back often.
  18. Subbed to this as well. Making my first trip last weekend this month.
  19. Thats great. Last time I had to change a tire, I would have had to walk 20 miles to call roadside service, and then, hoped that roadside service had a 4X4 that could get down the 13 mile dirt "road" to get to me. Oh yeah, and it would have been the next day likely when they would have gotten to me, since it was a Sunday, and the nearest open Roadside assistance was a 3 hour drive away.
  20. Funny, I just had to take Defensive Driving for a speeding ticket, and about 10 minutes of the DWI videos was Vince talking about how he fucked up the first time, and he would never do it again. Aceable is the website and app, pretty easy if anyone needs to do it.
  21. Yeah, I had never used it before, but defiantely have the REI app on my phone.
  22. Fantastic info man, just found this, and gave a lot of clarity: https://www.hikingproject.com/trail/7019658/limpia-chute-trail
  23. I've got the HC 4X4, so not worried there. Good to hear the little ones did it. Wife isn't a huge hiker, and the reports of this hike are all over the map for level of difficulty.
