  1. I re-watched it last night and agree... at the time I did not much like it, but then again I was pretty out on the MCU by then, after Dark World and IM3. Civil War rekindled my interest in the whole thing, and it helped that Phase 3 was so good all around. I binged 5 movies in the two weeks before I saw Infinity War.
  2. I haven't regularly watched SNL in years but I've been DVR'ing it for a few months now, including the classic episode that airs after (before?). Last week they showed the Peter Dinklage episode from 2016 and I watched because I figured they would have something GOT-related. Nope. But it did give us... Space Pants.
  3. I haven't seen either Ant-Man, the Hulk, or Captain Marvel. Drew Title 1 Avengers: Infinity War 2 Black Panther 3 Captain America: Civil War 4 Iron Man 5 Avengers: Endgame 6 Spider-Man: Homecoming 7 Thor: Ragnarok 8 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 9 Doctor Strange 10 Captain America: The Winter Soldier 11 The Avengers 12 Guardians of the Galaxy 13 Thor 14 Avengers: Age of Ultron 15 Captain America: The First Avenger 16 Iron Man 2 17 Iron Man Three 18 Thor: The Dark World
  4. I'm one of the few that enjoyed the 5th season, mainly because I liked Gus so much and the newspaper angle always makes me wonder "what if?". And yes to the top four of five, with every show except Justified/Shield (both on my list to eventually watch) and Boardwalk (watched it all the way through but never thought it was in that top echelon), but throw in The Leftovers.
  5. I thought most of The Romanoffs was trash. The ep with the piano tutor was beyond awful, and the one in Mexico felt incongruous in both style and substance. I felt Last Jedi levels of disappointment in that series.
  6. She's not in much, it appears. Had a tv role in the Gianni Versace series and now this, and has done five movie roles since OITNB began. The only one of them I saw was Joy, with Jennifer Lawrence.
  7. He was one of TLJ's guys in The Fugitive. He also helped equip the expedition in Congo.
  8. Watched all of Russian Doll last night after catching up on this thread yesterday. Despite finding everything about Natasha Lyonne irritating I was hooked pretty quickly. Not at all what I expected from the initial trailer.
  9. Spring 96... my roommate worked down there. I was to the point where I rarely ate dinner there (must have had 200 Subway meatball subs that semester) but I'd head down late to grab those chicken rings they served.
  10. It was about what I expected... over-sanitized, cartoony, and yet still kind of fun.
  11. Was in NYC a few weeks ago for a weekend getaway and ended up holding the door into a restaurant for a guy I instantly recognized at Michael Imperioli. Wasn't sure what to say so told him I had just finished a rewatch, then shook his hand and both of us went to our respective tables. He was polite but a little gruff. /csb
  12. Confirmation bias and all, but my grandma is 93. She still drives, goes to church, cooks, cleans... to look at here you'd probably think she were 75-80. My other grandmother was similar until about 94-95, when dementia set in, and she really went downhill at 96 or so (died a few months after turning 98). Those may be extreme examples, but I do not beleieve that quality of life suddenly erodes at 75... not in this day and age.
  13. He was the guy that came up with the nickname "Big Puddin'" for Tyler White, wasn't he? He deserved to get canned for that alone.
  14. S1 covers more like the first 1/3. It doesn't fully follow the book, but the S2 premiere basically takes place in Chapter 6 of 20 chapters. I just hope they at least get to the Lakeside storyline, as it was my favorite part of the book.
  15. It's supposed to reopen in the new Plaza Saltillo later this year.
  16. I started this after the series ended, so late Aughts, and I know I made it through the first season. Reading through the episode descriptions, though, I only recognize the S2 premiere. I've been meaning to go back to it for forever but never have. I'm in the middle of a Sopranos re-watch right now but maybe I'll finally get to it this year.
  17. After slogging my way through 2/3 of White Noise over about a two-month period and putting it on indefinite hiatus, I've gotten back on a regular reading schedule. I continued last year's Christopher Moore kick with his debut novel, Practical Demonkeeping... easy enough read, and similar to the "Love Story" and "Grim Reaper" series, but not quite as good. My reading challenge included a category for Pulitzer Prize winners so I opted for The Grapes of Wrath, which I think I was supposed to read in HS but not sure I actually did. I'm enjoying the prose - the lush descriptions and heavy vernacular - as well as how he intersperses the Joads' arc with more general storytelling, but my library holds started coming through last week so I'm temporarily putting it on hold to get caught up. Over the last two days I knocked out Gaiman's The Graveyard Book (the reading challenge also called for a YA novel) and may try to get through The Dog Stars, by Peter Heller, before I resume Grapes.
  18. I crave a Spam Bitch at least 2-3 times a month.
  19. In a thread with a lot of bad opinions and unnecessary hyperbole, this is a very accurate comment. Eight Men Out is criminally overlooked on most lists I've seen that rate sports movies.
  20. I could eat Tumble 22 every day.
  21. The mexican standoff from the TGTBTU is my favorite scene in any movie ever. I love the whole thing, but that scene is just incredible. Outside of that I've found myself rewatching Absolute Power when I come across it. Eastwood, Gene Hackman, Ed Harris, Scott Glenn, Laura Linney... c'mon... that's a helluva cast. And then you have Pedro Cerrano playing a bad guy and Clark Griswald's jackass father-in-law playing the sympathetic old pervert. I would also throw in In the Line of Fire but I caught on one of the movie channels recently and Malkovich's overacting just killed it for me.
