  1. Ultimately, isn't that the problem though?
  2. I'm not shocked at all by the portal entries, and will be even less shocked as they continue. The program is in disarray from a culture standpoint, and is being led by someone who has zero control or respect in the locker room. Frankly I'm surprised we haven't had more players leave already. How many players have we had sit out games, threaten to sit out games, enter the transfer portal and return, or skip the first 6 weeks of practice, only to in turn be deemed "stars" on this team? It's so incredibly damaging to culture when that behavior is tolerated, or even rewarded, while those players who continually bust their ass and do what's asked aren't rewarded. What precedent has Herman set in that regard? And he can't walk that back. And people who enter the portal, don't exactly come back happy and bought in. They will always have a chip on their shoulder and will be one foot out the door, no matter what. They'll spend more time looking for excuses to leave, rather than reasons to play. Herman's handling of 3 specific situations have caused permanent damage to the culture. His post-game answer on Saturday about the player counsel needing to fix things won't help him either. As much as I wanted him to succeed here, I think he's done here. The few players left that actually have any respect for him are done at the end of the year.
  3. His best attribute, prior to the injury, was his running ability. That appears to be gone, he only ran once but also took a handful of sacks. His throwing motion is bad, looked like a 3/4 type delivery in a slinging motion. If you need a 5 yard route passer (slant, hitch, curl) then he's your guy. Beyond that he wasn't great. He completed a couple of long passes, to the same receiver Grayson O'Bara (who has some serious wheels) who just outran the coverage and caught Stowers' chuck and a prayer passes. A real test will be tomorrow against Denton Ryan. If he truly has become pretty immobile, he's in for a rough night. And I doubt the Ryan secondary is going to let O'Bara just blow past them. Bowman on O'Bara could be a great matchup.
  4. Majority of the time these kids have THC in the vape pen, which results in a "drugs on campus" type of charge. It's not expulsion, it's alternative school. About 50% of the time parents pull their kids out of school to avoid the punishment. Public schools have an agreement where punishments carry over from district to district, so his only option if he's trying to avoid punishment is to go to a private school.
  5. My first time seeing this, and I know the “Dat Nguyen’s little brother” guy. He is a college coach at another SEC school. I’ve gotta clown that guy next time I see him.
  6. Was at the Hebron/Guyer game, and if aggy thinks Stowers is going to save them, then poor aggy.
  7. The NCAA granted an extra year for athletes in the Spring sports. But there is a catch...if you stay at your school, you do not count against the numbers or scholarship limits (so Texas Softball gets Miranda Elish back, and pays her scholarship, but it does not count against the 12.5 allotted to softball). If you transferred schools, you do count against the new schools numbers and scholarship limits. I'm going to assume it'll be like that for the fall sports, including football, which means most teams will not be accepting these transfers because it'll cost them scholarship money and a countable roster spot.
  8. This...I know one of the athletes listed and he has zero intention of having to serve any of the suspension, and that a CoVid excuse will be used, something along the lines of "you never know when this pandemic will flare up again and we don't want to rob any athlete of a chance to play".
  9. Trejan Bridges last year. Not sure about any others.
  10. I don't disagree, but that's their pitch and he's listening.
  11. I don't know whether he took anything off IG or not, BUT, Bowman is listening to OU. His decision will come down to which staff sells him best on how they plan to use him (he wants an opportunity to play both sides of the ball). One staff has told him he's only playing one side, the other staff is selling him on an opportunity for both. There is a cause for concern, albeit a small one right now.
  12. FIFY And for the record, I am on board with meeting their requests and making necessary changes. But I'm also tired of this generation and their expectation of instant gratification, and when they don't get it they want to take their ball and go home. DO admits in his note that steps are being taken...sorry they aren't quite moving at the pace he'd like.
  13. Kam Fields in the portal? Not sure I like that.
  14. Sorry if this has already been posted, but I didn't feel like going through the 15 pages I've missed today. I received this picture in a text from a SA at UT, and supposedly this is what they are proposing. And now I'm confused. I thought they wanted the whole song gone because of its ties to a minstrel show. That does not appear to be the case. They are requesting lyrics changes, and I'm not sure why they chose the lyrics they did to replace. And we are keeping it to the tune of "I've been working on the railroad" so it can't be that, and we are keeping "The Eyes of Texas" even though those lyrics could be argued against because Robert E. Lee said them. I'm good with making changes to make this less racially based, but I seriously do not understand this whole thing at all if we are only changing a few lyrics.
  15. Same girl who spends A LOT of time in Austin. Funny how things work out.
  16. I'm glad Miranda, Shannon and Kaitlyn are coming back, but I''m going to remain skeptical that it'll happen until they officially step on the field. There are still a lot of moving parts and unknowns that have to be answered. All the NCAA did was say they could come back, and gave a year of eligibility back to all spring sports athletes. That's it. Conferences and Schools will be able to decide whether they allow it or not, and before the decision by the NCAA, the Big 12 was not on board with giving eligibility back. SEC and ACC wanted all athletes to get a year, PAC wanted only seniors, and the Big 12 and Big 10 did not want anyone getting a year. Another factor will be the finances. It is up to the school to pay the returning seniors scholarship. Below are the rules the NCAA put in place regarding returning seniors and scholarship money: A returning senior can receive up to the amount they were on in 19/20. They may not receive more. Any scholarship money given to a returning senior will not count against the program limit of 12. If a returning senior transfers, any scholarship money they get from the new school will count against the program limit of 12. Some schools can't pay and some won't pay. With the loss of money each school receives from the NCAA, can't will be a real factor for a lot of schools. And that's assuming college football season happens in the fall. If not, watch out. But here's where it gets real tricky...the scholarship relief is only for next year and the returning seniors. After next year, it's back to 12. So coaches are going to have a decision to make, keep your now Juniors, or keep your 2021 recruits. Unless players on either side start giving up money, something will have to give. So for White, decision will be to keep and pay Lauren Burke, Janae Jefferson, Taylor Ellsworth, Ariana Adams, MK Tedder and Mary Iakopo...or drop them and pick up the 2021 commits Katie Cimusz, Sophia Simpson, Nelia Peraltz and Ashton Maloney. And that decision will have to happen by November. And another layer to that is the coaches may not have the choice, because of scholarship rules and language, if the current Juniors choose to come back their scholarship will be honored. So if all of the current Juniors choose to return, there may not be an money for 2021's. And lastly, the Freshman class for 20/21 will now be 10. The four from this season (Popelka, Marder, Corona and Green) will be FR again and you're now adding Ratcliff, Smith, Washington, Whitaker, White and Williams.
  17. Saw on Twitter that KWash is coming back. Great news!
  18. The plan right now is for it to be the FR coming in, Alyssa Washington. But it wouldn't surprise me if it ends up being someone off the transfer portal.
  19. Don't 100% quote me yet on those four, just what I've heard. I think money may end up being a big factor. The only way I can conceivably see this working is the NCAA granting the Seniors another year, but on their own dime. I think that will eliminate a majority of Seniors wanting to come back, and not just here.
  20. Don't blame West Virginia...they are just using their moonshine as a cure all, and it's working.
