  1. Rhodes is coming back, I don't think the other four are (Washington, Hathaway, Slack, Dermargosian)
  2. That middle post by CarolinaAg...wtf? It’s almost like September 10, 2005 never happened. Dumbfuck aggy
  3. I'd be all for Akina coming back, IF we set him up with a young protege for him to mentor for the future. Pick any of his former UT players and let Akina teach him how to coach. Then in a year or two, pass the torch.
  4. I posted about this a while ago. Naivar and Washington shouldn't necessarily get a "free pass", but I don't think they should be getting hammered as hard as they are either. I had someone tell me that the defense spent about 90% of their practice time working on nothing but blitzes. The defensive assistants often asked for position work time and were rarely granted it. Orlando did not put any time and effort into player development, he solely cared about his scheme. I'm not overly surprised that our players looked "coached up" last night.
  5. I remember hearing on one of the podcasts that Ash wasn't allowed to do any on-field coaching until after the bowl. He could do meetings and film, but that's it.
  6. Just showed everyone why Orland was a shitty coach and had to go.
  7. I apologize in advance, and I'm sure I missed it somewhere, but why is Brandon Jones not playing tonight?
  8. Sorry, but this x 1000. Cut from the same mold as CJ in terms of durability and desire.
  9. CJ will be why the “soft” label returns to UT draftees (assuming it ever left)
  10. Check post #185 above to see why it's time for CJ to move on.
  11. 104.9 said he won't coach the bowl game, but will be involved in game prep. Given that he was already an analyst, I'm guessing he's already been working some.
  12. My thoughts exactly. What do you think he spent more time on, hiring coaches or designing shoes?
  13. It certainly is when no one wants to work for you and your program is being referred to as the “Titanic” amongst high school football coaches.
  14. Don't kill the messenger. But yes, Texas is looking to pay for resolution because Beatty is wanted on staff.
  15. Haha, all that with no glory for himself...that's not Mensa-level.
  16. Reverse psychology...he's going to make it so he HAS to call plays and becomes our savior. Now that's some Mensa level shit right there.
  17. I haven't talked to anyone in a few days, so not a clue on how the Ash hire has been received. Mensa and control of the offense is a fact. In public he keeps saying he wants someone to take over, but privately that's not the case. Offense is his baby. At this point he'd be better off owning up to it and just taking over. Herman wants Beatty on staff officially, but that can't happen until the Kansas stuff is done. One way to do that is just pay Kansas the money and cut the ties, making Beatty available. Texas is looking into that option. I've heard nothing on Major, that was just speculation. But I think that's where we are trending with this. He is available, he runs Tom's offense, has worked with Tom, etc. It'll be another comfort hire that'll give ol' Mensa the warm fuzzies, while not threatening his "smartest person in the room" schtick since he's already worked with Major before. I will add, personally, that I also don't like his current attitude on the recruiting trail. I mean seriously, what the f*** with telling recruits not to worry about position coaches because they likely won't be there for a players entire career. Yes, that may be true, but I would think trying to make a recruit feel at ease about that would be because those coaches are moving onward and upward. Our current situation with coaches does not trend that direction. Seriously, Mensa Tom is left holding his d*** in one hand, and in the other he's selling a player to a program where position coaches are just pawns, more or less. I am truly baffled by this guy.
  18. Mensa Tom would not give up control of the offense, so Harrell said no thanks. It's really that simple. Applewhite will be the OC...he's the perfect mouthpiece for Tom. At this point I'm wondering if Applewhite is trying to set a record for the number of times someone can be hired/fired/let go from one university. Beatty is very much in play for a coaching position, Texas is working on just buying out his Kansas contract.
  19. I can say that there is a growing frustration in the locker room for this same reason. There has been no communication about what's going on with the coaches, and players are realizing that they are playing a bowl game for a bunch of coaches who probably won't be here come January. Morale is in the shitter, to say the least.
  20. Defensive position coaches were given very little opportunity to teach technique...most of the defensive time in practice was spent working on the 847 different blitzes we tried to run. Position coaches repeatedly approached Orlando asking for teaching time, and he said no. Apparently he's equal the egomaniac Herman is, if not worse. During games, our defensive scheme was so complex that players spent too much time thinking about where they are supposed to be. Thinking athletes are rarely successful. ***These are all facts, not speculation***
  21. **Cough** TEXAS **Cough** I still think there's a good chance he's our version of "Lincoln Riley" if hired. Win or Lose, Herman will outwear his welcome at Texas (he's probably already there), and if Harrell has the offense clicking, he could be in prime position to be elevated.
  22. Warehime and the East Texas plumbing aren't a good mix.
