Bingeable series for the whole family
You've nailed the issue, and the reason for the thread. He was all in on Stranger Things (already wants to rewatch it) but I don't know of many similar shows that can appeal to the whole family (X-Files seems like the best option to me so far - serial story, but enough Monster of the Week stuff to keep him engaged).

New Site Software / Theme
I fought with it for 5 minutes in the Bingeable TV Shows for the Whole Family in the Movies & TV forum and couldn't get it to work (user error is possible - I don't necessarily find some of the contemporary "intuitive" design themes very intuitive...) , so I just entered a post to ignore, then separately made the post I wanted to make, and the software automatically merged them.

I can't delete this previous draft that I want to discard - ignore. We will definitely skip the "Home" episode if we end up watching the X-Files!

New Site Software / Theme
I love the "restore previous post" autopopulate option when replying, but I have noticed numerous times that the "clear previous post" option disappears almost immediately - certainly faster than I can ever tap on it. No big deal to delete most of the time, but when the previous draft to be deleted includes a quote of another post, it gets very difficult to delete everything in order to start fresh.

I briefly saw that issue in another thread this morning, but when I scrolled back up to look again, the dates were correct. @immamac - fyi

Pekin, IL (the town where dad is from) is racist as fuck. Their high school mascot used to be "The Chinks" (Pekin/Peking, get it?) but it was changed to "The Dragons" in 1980 and people there are still salty about it.

Bingeable series for the whole family
Yeah, another one that's just a little too slow and character-driven for him right now, but which is on the list to watch eventually.

Bingeable series for the whole family
Interesting idea. I never watched Wonder Years back in the day. Throughout our Stranger Things adventure, I kept thinking about how we needed to watch Stand By Me together soon.

Eh, only partial credit without including a separate third and final point.

Bingeable series for the whole family
That's a good idea, too. Probably give him a little bit of social currency too, or at least more street cred than the X-Files. Separately, but on the topic of watching shit because it makes him seem cool to the other kids, it's very clear to us that (at least among Doomlet's cohort) there's a great deal of cache associated with having seen the Scream movies. He's seen the first one and the first half of the second one, but the plot is so thin and the characters all so tedious that he hasn't asked to finish it. I disengaged from all the Star Wars shit when it became too much to keep track of, but I imagine that if he shows an interest in the future, those might be good options.

Bingeable series for the whole family
Sweettooth is a good one that I had forgotten about. Many of the shows that Mrs. Doom and I watch all have some kind of bleak and/or apocalyptic setting, so I don't want to overwhelm him with too much overly depressing shit given the general state of the world these days.

Bingeable series for the whole family
I'm more interested in long, evolving stories than 30 minute sitcoms. Maybe Justified? I don't remember enough about it to recall if there's anything egregiously off-limits there. But we're fairly permissive, so I'm really just trying to think things that aren't too heady or heavy for a ten year old (The Leftovers, Dark, etc.). Station 11? Scavengers Reign? The Americans, maybe?

Bingeable series for the whole family
Our family (Doomlet, age 10, plus the Missus and myself) binged Stranger Things together over the holidays. That was the first serialized show that we've ever watched together as a family, and now I'm trying to think of what other shows might be good for all of us. I think he's a little young for Breaking Bad, definitely too young for The Sopranos or GoT or The Wire, or for most of the more character-driven shows that I look forward to eventually watching with him (Fargo, Mad Men, etc.) The only thing that I can really think of is the X-Files, but I worry that he might lose interest due to not having any added motivation to watch so he can talk about it with (and seem cool to) his peers. He really likes cryptids and monsters and shit, but I can't remember whether the show starts off slowly or with a bang, so if the first episode or three are all just exposition, I fear he will grow bored with it quickly and lose interest in sticking with it. Any other good ideas for shows that will appeal to everyone in the family?

Dedicated Stranger Things Series Thread
You bring up a topic that I've been contemplating this past week. Binging Stranger Things over the holidays was the first serial program that we watched together as a family, and the Doomlet (age 10) was really engaged in it. I'm sure at least part of it was his interest in being able to talk about the show with his peers, but we're trying to figure out what might be the next good series for us to watch together, and we're having some trouble thinking of something that will strike the right balance. I'll start a separate thread about it, but was hoping to get some additional ideas.

Yeah, we were completely disgusted with how difficult it seems to be to find a vet that can see our dog within a day or two. Thought we found a good one until the first issue came up and they couldn't fit her in for two fucking weeks, and they acted like I was some kind of entitled asshole when I expressed my frustration with their timeline. Went to the emergency vet, figured out she had leptospirosis and was in kidney failure, hospitalized for a few days, and now she's good as new. She would have died if we listened to the original vet. Switched vets, obviously, but I harbor a serious grudge against Companion Animal Hospital and other similar outfits. Fuck your buddy in the goatass, @orange dream- Las Vegas go hard or go home thread
