Classic Car thread
This is the first really nice weekend of weather in the Chicago area, so yesterday I took the cover and battery tender off the Skylark, gave it a once-over, put the top down, and found myself a nice place to grab lunch an hour away. Saw far fewer people obviously out for their first nice drive in a weekend car than I expected, and far more convertibles with their tops up than I should have. If you didn't have your top down yesterday (I'm talking specifically to you, slow-driving Boxster lady) then you bought the wrong car. Considered putting this in the Trivial Annoyances thread, but figured this would better reach the appropriate audience. But I did see a cute young lady (think Bridget Fonda in Jackie Brown) purposefully driving a tastefully modified and well-maintained A80 Supra. The guy in the passenger seat looked like the happiest man in the world, and he probably is....

Trivial things that please the ever living shit out of you
I think in your case, that's probably a Hail Satan bird.

Yellowjackets - Showtime
Yeah. I am not ready to quit on this show or anything, and in some weird way, I think the messy incomprehensibility of the plotlines is part of its appeal, but the finale was a bit slapdash. Still like this show quite a bit, but wouldn't argue the issue with anyone who disagrees.

HBO MAX: "The PITT"
I'm looking forward to hearing how it is perfectly representative of any given 15-hour period at your workplace. ~~~~~ Yeah, angry stepkid was the worst element of the show. Even at his introduction, the way everyone tried to clandestinely give him rubbers was a little weird and awkward, and it only got worse. I agree that most of the casting (particularly for the lesser roles) was very good.

Trivial Things That Make You Surly
You presumably have the upper hand in that you probably found out about him before he finds out about you, but once he does, I'm pretty sure he's going to try to kill you and take over your identity. So just to be safe, you should find and kill him first.

the best tv show you're not watching is...
St. Denis Medical is pretty funny. We just started Resident Alien the other day (I think based on a recommendation here, but not positive - kind of annoyed that I can't remember how I learned of it...) and while it's longer than 30 minutes, it's funny and doesn't seem to have much publicity.

And now he has goods on every single person who happily took the bait.

Just speculation about how we expected their story to end.

White Lotus - HBO
It turns out that the big twist was how every resolution was almost completely predictable, with the only possible exception being that none of the North Carolina people died before Mr. Duke finding out that he was in the clear. They missed a tremendous opportunity for Belinda to fall off the boat and hit her head at the very end. Enjoyable show, but unsatisfying finale, and overall, the weakest of the three.

All things SNL
Yeah, I thought that myself, and Mrs. Doom concurred. They looked considerably smaller the next time she was on screen. CryingStillRealToMe.gif

2025 seeded draft
As you can see, I never got around to recopying to get rid of that misplaced darker line. It still annoys me though.

All things SNL
Remind me to pick Jack Black in next year's dead pool.

Beach Towns (US)
Hell if I know what's comfortable, but it sounds like we might need to aim further away...

Beach Towns (US)
We have never been a "vacation over Christmas break" family, but the extended family visits are starting to be enough that we want to hit the beach between Christmas and New Years. Is there anywhere in the US where the ocean is warm enough to be comfortable/pleasant in December, or are we going to have to go to the Caribbean?

Dumbass Shit We See On Facebook
Pretty genius move if you happen to shart while at a place that sells pants similar to those you ruined.

Trump’s America
Probably the desired end result of this entire undertaking.

Yellowjackets - Showtime
Just finished S3 last night and have been avoiding spoilers. We couldn't remember some of the "new"(?) characters either, but figured there was a good chance that we just didn't remember them - this show is hard to keep track of between seasons. Still, I feel like there has always been a sort of deep bench of background NPCs that are just kind of a conceptual presence rather than featured roles with defined personalities. I still agree that this show isn't perfect, but I still enjoy it. Adult Misty is my favorite character.

Florida Key Recommendations?
Keys Fisheries in Marathon. Stone crabs right off the boat. Try the Lobster Reuben.

2025 Nascar Thread
Sorry for the CR, but I found Joy's fawning over Trump at Daytona to be unexpectedly unprofessional. Harvick is an asshole and Bowyer is a soft-brained country boy, so neither of their knob-slobbering surprised or even bothered me, but I somehow expected more out of Joy. I hated Harvick as a driver and overall personality, but I think he's an excellent announcer (at least when he isn't stooping to participate in Bowyer's folksy shenanigans). Bowyer isn't without the occasional worthwhile observation, but you have to wade through a lot of chaff to find just a little wheat. Agreed that Larry Mac is a treasure.
