  1. The whole, "I would have never gotten into UT these days" is interesting and I wonder how many on here think they would get in today. I would have zero fucking chance of getting in yet back in the day I got into the Business School from out of state. My kid who didn't get in the busines school has a "resume" of being top 2% in his 6A high school, never getting anything but an A his entire life (mostly like 97s to 100s), all the extracurriculars like qualifying for DECA state multiple times, being picked for that Boys State program and winning office at it, national honor society, student government, Varsity golf team 3 straight years and he still couldn't sniff the business school. I get every kid has the same great qualifications but it is interesting what kind of kids don't get into UT schools like business/engineering/etc... I on the other hand had like a 3.7 GPA in high school with plenty of non-A grades, mediocre SAT score and was in the Latin Club and they admitted my dumb ass.
  2. My kid was just accepted today to UT Austin, Moody School of Communication Advertising Major. He is excited about this but I am kind of worried about an advertising degree. Am I about to throw away a bunch of money on a useless degree or is a degree in advertising actually a good thing. It seems at least it is like 70% female to male ratio in advertising so he has got that going for him I guess. His first choice was Marketing/ Business School but he did not get in so this was his second choice. At least he is not following his old man’s path and getting a history degree from UT.
  3. For those old school rap fans the Run DMC 3 part docu series just dropped on Peacock. One episode in and as an old school rap guy it’s pretty cool seeing behind the scenes and how it all began for Run DMC.
  4. Was drinking some Pappy 15 over the weekend up in NYC. After finishing the bottle had to switch to Blantons, and it tasted like crap compared to the Pappy and I love Blantons.
  5. I don’t see it unfortunately. I grew up in FL and that is Red state now. It was blue mostly because of the olds in South Florida but as they have died off over the years the Republicans in the panhandle, influx of Republicans from other states and the republican Cubans in Dade county have made that state Red going forward. Similar to Ohio. It’s not a swing state. Biden should spend almost all of his time in PA, MI, WI and then do a little in AZ, NV, GA, CO.
  6. I would also equate it to MLB when the Yankees, Dodgers or Red Sox are "interested" it is just to drive up the free agent's price.
  7. Isn’t the rumor Georgia or Ohio State was offering a ton of NIL supposedly to get this kid.
  8. You forgot that the 6th year senior QB had the game of his life. Not sure many QBs will be facing a Texas team with that bad of a secondary and lack of an edge pass rush for years to come fortunately.
  9. It's probably because Brady went to TB and won. He can't let it go . Actually, he wants Don Shula's wins record and that is what he is really after. Another Super Bowl would be gravy.
  10. Long response and my avatar pretty much tells my view on this but there is an awful lot of idiocy in this thread. Guy was one of if not the best head coaches ever and was an amazing GM for most of those 24 years. Belichick went all in for the last 4 years of Brady's time in New England knowing they would have some issues with the salary cap and player talent going forward. That lead to super bowls in 3 of those 4 years. When Brady left the team was stuck with aging players, no cap space, etc... but Bill did that to maximize what he thought was the end of Brady's playing days (Bill was off on that by a few years just like most sane people were). Brady was smart to leave just like the Patriots were smart to part ways at that time because they weren't going to win any more Super Bowls with that team whether Brady stayed or left. Brady picked the Bucs because they were loaded with everything except a QB and that is why they were able to win the SB. Yeah, Brady is the GOAT and of course my favorite player but if he goes to a team with no talent he would have struggled. It is similar to when Lebron left Cleveland to a loaded team with Miami and then when Miami was on the way down due to injuries, age and cap issues he jumped to a loaded team back in Cleveland. Back to Belichick, he did mess up GM wise these last few years. Most of his moves did not pan out but that happens to pretty much every GM. He missed in the draft and Free Agency but most importantly, he missed on finding an average at best QB. This year's team was decimated by injuries which is why they ended up with 4 wins versus what probably should have been 8-9 wins (still not great but the team lacks talent based on Bill the GM not Bill the coach). Lastly, as great as Brady was, many of those Super Bowls were won by the defense, especially the first 3 when Brady was more of a game manager. Even later on, the Rams super bowl a few years ago was really the defense that won that game.
  11. Why we didn’t run it down UW’s fucking throats I will never understand.
  12. I'm not expecting Marvin Harrison Jr., to give up being a Top 3 pick in the NFL draft because he wants to win a college national championship before he goes to the NFL and figures UT is his best chance so he portals here so maybe it's that.
  13. I am dealing with this loss pretty well since I have realistic expectations for the future as I see us winning at least 6 of the next 7 national championships so I have that to look forward to.
  14. Professional refs like the NFL has? That doesn't work so well either.
  15. The "fade" at the goal line is the dumbest call you can make, and Sark should have never called that. As a Pats fan, I have watched Tom Brady throw the fade to Gronk for years and even with two of the greatest ever, it is a dumb call because it works at such a low percentage. There is an old article on ESPN that talks about the low stats of completing a fade route in the end zone versus all other throws. So long, goal-line fade - Why one of the NFL's least efficient passing plays is disappearing - ESPN
  16. I agree with a lot of this, and it seemed like the football gods actually threw us a bone in this game and we fucked it up at the end. It definitely exceeds 2001 because we would have gotten rolled by Miami in 2001 if we did win. That Miami team was one of the most talented teams in college football history. If we win last night, I think we match up very well with Michigan. Unfortunately, Washington or Oregon would have been the worst match ups for us because our secondary is so bad, and those teams can throw the ball really well and it played out that way last night. It was a team loss last night with almost everyone screwing up just a little bit at different times. You add up the mistakes by Sark, Ewers, fumbles, penalties (the refs did screw us also) and how good Penix and their WR's were it was a miracle we had a chance to win.
  17. Got a call from the local liquor store that I was one of the allocated winners. The best thing left was a Thomas H. Handy Rye. I don’t usually drink Rye but any idea if this is good stuff? I never win these things so when I finally did I was hoping for any of the other antique collection stuff or even Pappy.
  18. If you burned those down would anybody really know the difference.
