  1. Yeah, my agent said she tried to explain it to their agent but I am guessing their agent sucks at “educating” his clients. My realtor told their realtor that her own home (she lives in my neighborhood) has 200 piers and is only 3 years old and that my home only had 17 piers and the structural engineer fully backed the work saying the home is totally sound. She also sent their realtor a conversation from our neighborhood Facebook page that flukishly occurred on Tuesday with people asking about foundation issues and how the builders warranty it. The first comment was a guy saying, “we have 3 types of homes in this neighborhood, those with foundation issues, those that are going to have foundation issues, or those that had foundation issues and were fixed. Their realtor didn’t seem to care apparently. One interesting thing in this whole deal is another home went on the market in my neighborhood Monday and was priced super cheap. My realtor said these people are going to look at that one also. I found out that the home was not really lived in and during the big TX Freeze last year the pipes broke and flooded the home and water sat forever since nobody lived in it. Some people that know that home said its a gut job when you look closely but the pictures on line made it look really nice so I hope these fuckers buy that home and then have tons of repair issues. I know, I am bitter.
  2. We gave them the engineer report and the lifetime warranty info but they are idiots in my opinion since apparently they really loved my house. Oh well.
  3. This is more on the real estate side since I put my house on the market Friday. Had an offer at list by Sunday but they backed out because 6 years ago we had 17 piers put in the front of our house for some foundation repair. My neighborhood is on a peninsula in Dallas on a lake and from what I have been told settling and foundation issues in north Texas is totally common and even more so near the lake. My realtor tried to explain to their realtor that the houses in this neighborhood either had some foundation issues or are going to have foundation issues but the buyers said any home that has this is a non starter. Should I be worried that most people view it this way? Everyone I know looks at piers as a positive since the issue was fixed.
  4. Let me just make sure I truly understand your stance. Do you feel these mass shootings that this country has all the time is a problem or not? (Simple yes or no question, right?). If you do feel it is a problem what do you feel the solution is? Is your attitude just let this happen over and over again and there is nothing we as a civilization can do or do you have ideas on how we can try and curb some of these atrocities that are occurring in this country? I get that in your mind, taking certain guns away isn’t a solution so what do you recommend?
  5. Let me preface this by saying that I am not a gun owner nor a hunter. I totally respect people that choose to hunt or buy guns (Just doesn’t interest me) but can someone tell me the purpose for ownership of “assault type weapons” and why this should be allowed? I mean, do people use these to hunt deer or ducks or something? Like I said, not a gun owner so I really don’t understand the need for these type of weapons and before someone says “2nd amendment” allows them, just remember that you can’t go buy a tank or bazooka or rocket launcher or certain weapons that are banned from private use. Not saying banning those weapons would solve the issue but it sure couldn’t hurt and if it saves one life going forward in this country then it is totally worth the ban since selfishly, that one life could be my child’s life.
  6. 32-15 FT advantage for Miami. Think about that. Game was fixed. The refs made sure the canes stayed in it and then for some reason kept favoring them.
  7. While I appreciate everyone’s thoughts in this thread on whether religion is real or not, how the universe started and all the other stuff I think many are missing the key to why the OP started this thread. It has to do with religion being part of the government and certain religious beliefs being forced on others through the government (correct me if I’m wrong OP). So those of you on this thread that are religious (seems to be mostly Christian’s here), I totally respect your beliefs and what makes this country great is everyone gets to believe whatever the fuck religion they want or not believe in religion at all and the government can’t do shit about it. It seems many Christians feel the government should allow them to force their beliefs on others (prayers in public school, Christmas trees in government buildings, I guess the whole abortion thing, etc…) yet I am pretty sure those same Christians would not want the government to force other religion’s beliefs on them. We don’t need the Jews forcing the government to force every man to have circumcisions or certain Muslim beliefs to be forced on the population where women have to cover their whole bodies except their eyes and so on. What this all really boils down to is why the fuck can’t I buy beer and wine before noon on Sunday morning in Texas.
  8. So Scientology and Christianity are cults? Next you are gonna tell me Joseph Smith was just a con man, Jesus really didn’t hang out in America doing peyote with the Native Americans and Mormonism is a cult, huh?
  9. So, while my dog is awesome, it has been a rough 3 weeks for him and my family. He is 8 years old and 3 weeks ago my son found a mass on his front leg. Vet said it was a benign tumor but had to be removed asap or it will grow. He had surgery 2 weeks ago and today went to have the stitches removed and we noticed another mass behind his ear. Vet says he needs more surgery to remove that next week. Starting to really worry on if these things will keep appearing and if we have to keep doing surgeries to remove them or what to do. This part of dog ownership is not so awesome.
  10. I think you are forgetting the part of the Bible, I believe it is in Deuteronomy, that specifically states that religion should be a big part of the government of the United States of America. Oh, and just so you all know where I stand. I am 100% for a Theocracy in this country as long as it involves the religion that celebrates Festivus because I have got a lot of grievances to air with you people.
  11. This post deserved more love and those of you that didn’t give it a pos rep may very well find yourselves roasted in the depths of a giant slor, I can tell you!
  12. The “stager” is the husband of the realtor that owns this agency that is selling my house. I feel like she “double dips” the customer, me, to get the sale and then make a side business for her husband to stage houses which she also makes money on.
  13. I have a question for all the realtors out there. I am about to put my home on the market and have already moved so it is empty except for a few odd pieces of furniture. My realtor is suggesting I stage the home and that staging will get me a sale much quicker and will add 10-15K to the sales price. Conveniently, her husband is in the “staging home business” and he quoted me $3500 to do the downstairs and $5500 to do the whole home. So, is “staging” worth the price? I definitely am not doing the whole home but wondering if I do the $3500 that would do the living room, kitchen, dining room and master bed room. Thoughts?
  14. Just want to send a shout out to Wulaw for helping me close on a new house yesterday. He locked me a few weeks ago at a rate that was way less than what others were offering me. The whole process was done in 2 weeks and everything went smoothly. Thanks again Wulaw.
  15. Died, no, but we had no power for the last 4 hours in my neighborhood which sucked. Not just no power but no cell service/internet/texting available right when the tornado sirens were going off up here in DFW which for the first time in the 15 years I have been in this house I felt totally disconnected from the world when I really wanted to get some weather news. I guess I need to invest in some emergency radio thingy for the next time this happens.
  16. I am guessing most on here aren't familiar with this, but I grew up eating Shrimp and Lobster Sauce, Boston Style. I was taught this dish came in NY style which was a white sauce and Boston style which is a dark sauce. Really simple dish but quite delicious. The key to making it like they do in Boston is using Molasses in the sauce. I will put a link to the recipe I use from an old restaurant in Boston called Kowloon's. I don't add the egg and I use a black bean garlic sauce that I buy at the grocery store Asian section. Once the sauce is done just add the shrimp and cook a few minutes until done. You can also add cooked lobster pieces to this sauce instead of shrimp. Throw some sliced green onions on top when serving. This is a really popular dish in Boston Chinese restaurants and the best way I can describe it is it's like a ground pork chili consistency but with shrimp in it also (it doesn't taste like chili though). Serve it over roast pork fried rice and add some chow mein noodles on top and it's fantastic. Kowloon's Lobster Sauce (From Kowloon's of New England Ma) Recipe - Food.com
  17. Blues Brothers 2 and Caddyshack 2. .......Wait, what is the title of this thread?
  18. I posted the above in November on this thread. The source is my nephew who is a FSU alum and he was at the FSU-Miami game in a box with the big wigs for FSU and their Alumni Sports leadership (like the Longhorn Foundation executives I guess) and they flat told him all of this about the ACC and the infighting going on of where FSU should go. Maybe what he was told is starting to happen.
  19. Well, the couch story gets worse. We are moving in a few weeks and the couches I own are too big for the living room in the new house (they are the wrong color also) so now I have to get new couches anyways. Been looking at every furniture store the last few weeks, and everything is crazy expensive. Even the cheap stores are charging a lot for a couch that will probably fall apart in a few years. I went to Havertys, and they wanted $6K for a sofa and love seat. I then went online, and all the reviews of that particular couch say it looks like shit after a few months and the fabric starts to get beads in it like an old sweater. One of the reviews said they complained to Havertys, and they were told to just buy one of those sweater shaver things and use it on the couch. Fuck if I'm paying $6K for couches and then have to shave them on a weekly basis.
  20. Sad to hear, but he is a great man who lived a great long life. When he was running for President in 1975/1976 and I was only 5 or 6 years old my parents took me to a small rally at the Diplomat hotel in FL and I shook his hand while he was leaving. No idea why but I still remember that moment all these years later, but I can still picture him coming up to me and me reaching out my hand. RIP
  21. I would think the diplomatic problems would stem from their kidnapping of an earthling in order to harvest his human horn. The upper one.
  22. Just curious but are you a Chiefs or tech fan? As I said in previous posts it's not that there was a hold there it's that I feel the call was terrible within the context of how the game was called. The fact you bring up Lane Johnson jumping every play and no calls shows the refs swallowed their whistles the entire game for both teams until that one defensive holding call. Unless you believe that both teams defenses played perfect pass coverage the entire game and didn't hand fight/hold/touch the receivers until that one play when it was so egregious it just had to be called.
  23. All the cowboys and chiefs/tech fans think it was a great call. Almost everyone that doesn't have a dog in the fight feels it should have been a no call. Your point about calling something in a vacuum makes no sense because it seems for the entire game they chose not to make those calls. Same goes for both offensive lines and holding. They let them play in the Super Bowl for some reason and don't make a lot of calls. They did the same last night but then on the most crucial play they chose to do something different than they have all night.
