  1. It is amazing how Strong (a defensive coach) had the D pretty good but left the O up to Shawn Watson which cratered the program. Herman was an offensive coach and let the D fall apart under Orlando and now Sark is following the same script with a good offense and terrible defense. You would think it wouldn't be that hard to get a good coach on the other side of the ball that you are not as good at. That being said, I still think the talent we have on defense is pretty horrible both last year and this year so it may not matter who the D coordinator is until we get better talent and depth so when we get an injury we aren't playing true freshmen or walk ons.
  2. "Don't care, INFLATION!!!!" is all the right wing would scream no matter how good the other economic numbers are and the people would nod along with the right wing. You really can't win an argument or persuade ignorant people with facts and the truth. You have people running around screaming there is a horrible crime wave when the stats don't really show that and about 99% of the people that vote Republican are probably not affected by much of the crime happening (in urban areas) since they live in the burbs or the out in the country yet they are frightened by the thought of being shot to death by a gang member.
  3. "Well now he is an expert on the TE routes and knows exactly where to throw the ball ya stupid sip. Jimbo is a QB whisperer don't ya know. Kinda like that Chinaman teaching Daniel Larusso how to do karate. Outside the box thinking right there." - All Aggies
  4. You can't change the fact that a majority of the people in this country are idiots. You can call them good people, hard working, whatever but their dumb as a fucking rock. You are absolutely right about the narrative and scaring the people that the R's do so well. So now crime is coming to get me. Weren't the caravans coming to get me or was it the MS-13 gang members coming to get me to make me vote for the R's last cycle.
  5. Isn't all this the perfect scenario for Jimbo to use as an excuse for a loss (missing their QB and many other players) or if they win its because he did such a great job of coaching the backups up to beat the former National Champion Florida Gators!
  6. Mine missed it to. Set to tape tomorrow.
  7. Schwarber ripped a ball to first base and Mancini caught it with his teeth.
  8. I just added these CPX jumbo golf pride grips (see link below) to the new irons I am having built. Not sure if they are good or not but they felt good when I held them in the store earlier this week. CPX™ - Golf Pride ®
  9. After all these years of being a mediocre at best golfer (15 handicap right now) I finally got fitted for clubs with the hopes of getting that handicap down to single digits. Hopefully the way I hit in the fitting translates to the course but the woods and irons I ended up getting were a huge improvement over my current sticks based on the computer stats. Looking forward to practicing with the new ones and getting better at this game. CSB-was also cool that Sheffler was working out there while I was doing my irons fitting. The guy fitting me was working on Scotty's new irons that morning as he said he was switching from blades to some other Taylor Made iron I guess.
  10. So Muhammad might bail on UT because of our win/loss this season but he is considering A&M who sits at 3-5? Makes total sense.
  11. Does it? It’s not like any of them went on to be great elsewhere. We just hired shit coaches from McWilliams, Mackovic, Strong, and Herman that did nothing after UT fired them that I know of. Mack Brown was a good not great coach who amassed talent like anybody in the country which lead to our only championship in 40 years. If Mack could have hired real coordinators during his time at UT we would have been able to get a few more possibly on top of that.
  12. I agree with everything in this post with regards to the offense and I am in no hurry to fire Sark as I think he was left with a shitty roster and is starting to rebuild it after all these years. I see really exceptional recruiting on the offensive line in the last 2 years which is great. Ewers and Manning are as good a get at the QB slots than anyone could have hoped for. Cook at WR and Baxter at RB is also really good so it looks like we are bringing in top tier talent on the offensive side of the ball. My biggest concern is the other side of the ball. We are recruiting good players but not the top tier 5 star players on defense and we will need them in order to get where we all want this program to be. As frustrated as I have been with the offense struggling in the second halves of games, in my view if we had a good defense that didn’t give up all the leads we wouldn’t be so upset with Sark’s play calling. It’s not like the offense is turning the ball over on their own 5 yard line over and over in the 4th quarter leading to the blown leads. The defense just plain sucks and we can blame PK or the players or both but that shit needs to get fixed or we will continue to lose games we shouldn’t know matter how good the offense becomes under Sark.
  13. I think Stewart leaving is the key to really fucking them up. The dude is really good and can be like a Mike Evans and just go up and get the ball on even bad passes and make any QB look better than they really are. He transfers and that offense will look like shit again next year. With him staying, there is a chance that even with Jimbo's shitty play calling they get decent production out of their O and if their D improves with all those 5 stars then they may get back to their normal 8-4 type of seasons.
  14. I sure hope Evan Stewart is first in line to GTFO of College Station. Him and a few of those stud D line would be great. Add in some kids from the current class de committing like Hicks and Hill and I for one will be in a very good mood for quite a while.
  15. Maybe Jimbo needs to start getting advice on how to treat his players from one of his assistant coaches like Durkin.
  16. If Weigman has a legitimate chance at playing pro baseball he and his family are idiots to let him play football. Being a rich baseball player is a much better life than getting a brain injury or just the overall toll on your body that football gives you. That hit he took was pretty brutal and no way did he not sustain a concussion.
  17. I got to admit that the “worlds finest chocolate” line was fantastic.
  18. Maybe it’s not weed or candy but “pouring candy into a teammates hand” is prison talk for giving another dude a handy. Then again at A&M that probably isn’t frowned upon and you get made team captain for doing that in the locker room.
  19. I really enjoy these “territory” shows so far and getting to hear all these old stories but part of me would prefer a real documentary about each territory going into the history of each area through the years and stuff like that.
  20. Just voted and the one positive of living in a predominantly Republican suburb of Dallas is they sure make it easy to vote. No lines, took about 10 minutes and I was done. Didn’t see any Beto signs out front of the polling station but lots of Abbott signs and Vote Republican to keep Texas strong signs or some shit like that. I wish my vote actually counted as my congressional rep is running against a Libertarian and sadly Abbot, Paxton et all will be re-elected because they have a R next to their name on the ballot.
  21. Just wanted to check in on all the posters on Surly to make sure you are all OK. I have been listening to the highlights from the senate debates last night and it sounds like crime is really rampant across the United States and most of us my not live to even see Election Day. I will say the Republicans are sooooo good at messaging fear it’s quite impressive. Here in N Dallas suburbs there are probably hundreds of thousands of soccer moms who will vote for Republicans in order to stop all of this rampant criminal activity going on yet none of them have been near a crime in person themselves unless you count the white collar crimes their husbands are guilty of for embezzling money to help pay for their McMansions.
  22. I think if Republicans take over they just may do that.
  23. A&M has taken this years roller coaster up a notch. I can’t even imagine what they have in store for us next but I’m looking forward to it.
  24. Since I grew up in FL this is quite appealing to me. Guessing we get some stories about Mike and Eddie Graham, Gordon Solie and Dusty Rhodes.
